      @@AudiC7Owners it’s not the cwa-100 actually, it’s the circulation in the divorce tank. I have too much air in my system and no way to bleed it.

      @@AudiC7Owners because the PLM divorce tank doesn’t come with the bleed knob that you can run a line too from the HX! Might have to buy the Mercracing one and spend money :/

    Really appreciate your content here on Audi C7 Owners, and definitely looking forward to your update video on lowering the IATs, do you have a video on replacing the the engine mounts on the front end of the supercharged engine? They have other similar on UA-cam but I figure yours would qualify the best as you have the bestest vids and instructions out there on our cars 🙌🏼

      Unfortunately I do not. The passenger side was easy, but you have to lower the subframe for the drivers side mount which I didn't know when I tried. It is a PITA. If I ever do it again I'll cut a video

    Great job, Cameron! I have DIY divorced mine in a similar way some time ago. However, I don't share your interpretation of the benefits from deleting the OEM small secondary HX. I believe every other HX brings benefits in cooling. However it's worth testing... lol. I find it interesting how you rerouted the flow from the HX straight to the SC. Might do that as well, or at least test. Think twice before going dual pulley and chose carefully and wisely the size. That's my advice. I am running 203 mm lower pulley and all I get is heat...

      There is a reason they deleted the secondary hx on the B8.5 S4/S5 cars.other people have done the testing & found it is not needed if you have an upgraded heat exchanger.
      I'm going to go for the 207mm crank pulley (oem SC pulley) and see how it goes.
      I'll likely go water/meth as well which will keep iat's down.

      I haven't done the w/m yet, but I know other people that have & it definitely keeps the iat's down.

    Nice to find a channel that considers us guys who daily and want/need these cars to last. I’d like a few extra hrspr but not make my neighbors hate me when I start it up every morning. I have an S4 3.0super that I want to do this to, but my wife’s daily is a 2018 q7 that we also tow our camper with. I think this would benefit the tow vehicle by keeping my temps down while towing??

      You would probably be better off with the cwa-100 vs divorcing it. And this will only effect your iat's... These mods will have no effect on your edgine coolant temperature.

    You need the velocity AP ports, and dual cwa 100-3s in series also remove that auxiliary Hx next to the stock aux pump location.

      If you watched the entire video you would see that I I did remove the axillary hx from the supercharger loop. It's still on the car, but I isolated it.
      And I have zero issues with iat's. No need for dual pumps.

    I've been contemplating divorcing my supercharger on my Q5 3.0T .... I'm a little worried about the whole pressure increase thing and causing my intercooler Cores to blow. There really isn't a lot of information yet on Audizine regarding this. Do you have any word on this? Some people are saying their cars are completely fine, and some are saying that the reservoir should be vented so that pressure can escape when the coolant pump shuts off.

    Saw a video by suites up to the 9s saying running the coolant into then out of a reservoir it will create foaming won’t that reservoir do that

    So has anyone pointed out the contradiction in “if you want the coldest system run straight water - but dont run straight water if you expect below freezing temperatures” fallacy? Coolant - antifreeze has glycol in it. Glycol is an anti-freezing chemical which allows water based liquids to maintain their fluid state well below the threshold for change of state into a solid. Industrial chillers run chilled water loop systems below 32 degrees Fahrenheit all the time. Use anti freeze and you’ll be able to run as cold of a system as you want without fear of “freezing your lines” and without the real risk of running a system without any lubricant in the lines and risking rust deposits like you would in an all water system. Add in an Interchiller and you’re good to go.

      1) 90% of people don't want to spend money on an interchiller system
      2) there is no contradiction. Distilled water in the supercharger coolant Loop provides the best cooling benefits, but if you live in an area that sees very cold temps during winter then you need to add antifreeze for that season to prevent the loop from freezing & damaging things. Otherwise, run 100% distilled water to keep your iat's as low as possible.
      Divorcing without running distilled water is useless

    Very informative, thanks! I think im gonna go ahead and order the HX...but that Jose guy...i want you to ask him why we have coolant flowing upward through the HX. And why is the same think happening in the SC bricks? Is there a reason for this besides to let gravity work against our pump, which negatively weighs on the higher flow rate we are trying to achieve?
    Well we know who's not a physicist! 😅

      That's how it is on the oem setup. I've ran the lines both ways and it doesn't make any difference in iat's.

    Hi your videos are a great help I fitted a forge motorsport heat exchanger with divorced expansion tank at the weekend and driven the car 2 days since then. Had a bit of trouble bleeding and snapped a screw but got replacements fitted. Today I checked coolant again and the stock tank level hasn’t changed but the divorced tank had gone down again around 2-3 inches. No sign of any leaks. Am I overly paranoid about dreaded pcv or is this normal to slowly go down as any air pockets left behind slowly come out? Thanks

      Your divorced reservoir only feeds water to your heat exchanger & supercharger. None of it goes into the engine/pcv.
      Keep bleeding everything until you have no more air in the stem.

    My professional opinion, as a person who owns this vehicle as well as 2 turbo cars and an 07 LSJ Cobalt (supercharged) is that…. for about $25 and an hour of your time, you can “divorce” the two systems and the difference between what I have in mind and this kit likely couldn’t be proven to be different even on a dyno or by monitoring IAT’s. If the factory system has 2 H/E’s….. primary before the pump and secondary after the pump before the blower…. all you gotta do is delete the section of pipe between “16” and “16” in the diagram, or where the primary cooling systems connects to the secondary. My guess here is the reason the two systems are connected is for ease of service, because fluid dynamics would suggest that the two systems essentially operate independently, due to the fact flow is being directed in both systems and flow would be impeded by attempting to intersect the flow generated by the primary coolant pump and secondary electronic pump, I would also say the secondary pump has a slightly higher flow rate, this would also help the “loops” essentially stay separate. The intermix pipe…. Or 16 pipe as we’ll call it, is very long. Imagine a hallways between two subway rail lines. It’s going to take a LOT to force a train down that hallway, the faster the flow the less likely it happens. Only way I could prove my theory is with a clear pipe and ball and grids and I don’t have time for that lol, but yea we will just be capping off the line at the T on ours, and sending it. I bet IAT’s drop slightly, but imo the reasoning is more for running close to straight water in the secondary system, THAT is the legit reason.

      You wrote out a very long thing just to repeat what we all know. Divorcing the loop is useless running normal coolant. It's only beneficial running distilled water. Then it is a major improvement in iats

    Have you changed anything since this video? I just ordered a divorce kit with the air purge tank and a external 1 gallon coolant take from Private Label mfg. Just want to make sure there isn't anymore tricks... this texas heat is whooping me.

    Wouldnt it be more beneficial to run 2 autobleed lines off of the brick bleeder ports since thats the highest point in the system, ecen with the new reservoir?

    I have a c7.5 a6 CREC 3.0t and my IATs are horrid even after installing an S6 HX from MercRacing and bleeding the system.

    Cam, if you use Jose's divorced reservoir on a B8 S4, and run a full divorced loop, can you still run the VelocityAP ports? Do you use the CWA100 pump for a divorced setup?

      You can definitely still use them.
      I used a cwa100 for a while, but I've since upgraded to a cwa150

      Yes, you can run straight distilled water in the sc loop for lower iat's.

    Please Help!!! I have a 2013 Audi A7 I hit a opossum last night going about 65 MPH busted my front bumper and it ripped the 3 pin connector out of my coolant pump. I purchased a new 3 pin connector each pin is numbered 1 2 3 but the wires are solid black. I have 3 wires dangling from the harness that goes to the pump the colors are solid RED, solid VIOLET, and RED with a WHITE stripe. Does anyone know what color goes to each specific pin number????? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Yes, you can delete that side intercooler & run an aftermarket heat exchanger but you honestly won't notice a difference. I'd leave it alone until you divorce the system.

    Working on divorcing my C7.5 at this current time. Ordered the reservoir from Merc last week and a CWA today as I just finally mounted the HX, which I've had for months, and I am thinking about the coolant flow. I totally understand what you did however I have a question. I want to know if there was a particular reason why you chose to have the CWA pump the coolant into the HX rather than have it pump directly into the SC itself?

      Because I want the coldest fluid going into the sc possible. If I did it the other way around it would be warm fluid going into the sc which would increase my iat's

      @@AudiC7Owners I completely and totally agree, maybe I worded my question incorrectly. I am thinking about pulling from the upper outlet of the HX, the already cooled fluid, and placing that on the tee between the reservoir and the pump and then pushing from the pump straight into the SC. I suppose that I wanted to see if there was some reason why you chose to push into the HX that would potentially cause an issue if I were to switch the order up so to speak and went directly from the pump into the SC.

      Gotcha. Technically, the system is still routed the exact same way as the oem system. I just removed the unnecessary things & streamlined it.
      The line going out of the HX to the sc is giving the coldest fluid possible. If I did it any other way it would be delayed going into the sc & warmer. This is just the most efficient way to run it.
      Having said that, if you do it another way, I'd love to see your logs to compare to mine & see if they're is a big difference.

      Well it's been a while, and I apologize but there have been a lot of changes that have taken place lately, however I am finally in a place that things are sorted and have been for a few months now. I just don't drive it that often though as it's not my daily. In any event I will be going on some spirited drives in about 2 weeks and will do some logging during that time to see what if any differences there are in the routing. For clarity's sake however, I am now running a cwa-150 that I wired into a relay running off the battery and signaled by the ecu since that pump is 15 amp rather than the stock 10 but I did change up the coolant flow as discussed earlier, from the SC into the Merc HX then into the pump and back to the SC. Additionally I am running a JHM intake tube, RS7 airbox, IE CREC E85 tune with the IE aggressive ZF8 tune, JHM race pipes, catted, baffled DP, and AWE touring exhaust. This will be 3 days of running it decently in the N. GA mountains so it should yield some decent data.

    So if I understand correctly, the secondary intercooler, i.e. the smaller OEM one , is now non functional? Was there no way to use this as a secondary engine intercooler?

      I'm sure you could, but there is no need to. The oem radiator is more than enough for the engine.

      @@AudiC7Owners uh, doesn't that only serve the intercooler loop and leaving it in can only help reduce the temps? none of the engine's coolant goes through that heat exchanger. it's free sc chilling loop realestate no? try doing some pulls and check it before and after, probably drop a few more degrees especially at high speed on the big end of a 1/4 mile run.
      also interesting to see how you can kinda see how at higher sc speeds the heat really picks up, in your case above 7krpm, held 160 for a while but in reality that looks like your gauge stalled/was lagging and in reality the iats continued up during that time vs spiking from 160-170 almost instantly, that was during the pull, not after letting off, at least from what the vid shows

      So the engine coolant loop runs through the oem radiator after being divorced. It's isolated from everything else.
      The supercharger coolant loop is running through your aftermarket heat exchanger (presumably), and if you delete the restrictive hardlines & run new coolant lines like I did in the video, there is no need to keep the secondary hx in the sc coolant loop. It doesn't make any difference in iat's or recovery. In fact it slows recovery by forcing coolant to go through it. B8.5 cars don't even have it.

      You could, but it would likely yield no really benefit. The oem radiator is more then enough for the engine.

      It means the air leaving your s/c going into your engine will be cooler.

    We are currently trying to determine what leaking hose to a heat exchanger needs to be replaced. It’s on a C7.5. I’d attach a pic and video here but don’t think I can. The only hose diagrams I can find for this car is for the radiator not heat exchanger. Let me know how to send to you.

      Yep. Been great so far. My iat's are never more than 20 degrees Celsius above ambient (usually 12-15 over) when cruising. Now that Temps are chilling off here I stay below 75c on quarter mile pulls, & recovery is super fast. I'm extremely happy with this setup

      @@AudiC7Owners did you put in the upgrade for the pump at the same time? I just did this yesterday, with the upgraded pump using the old B8 S5 (I have a S5) power steering fluid reservoir. Drive home was good, it was 17c out and on the highway cruising IAT was at 25c... I will get more driving in this weekend after 11h work day lil too burnt to take her out tonight. Im dual pulley set up before the divorce I was peaking around 72f at the end of a 1/4 mile on days it was 30c 40c with humidity leaving the line IAT at 45c (line ups)
      I hope to keep it under that at least a little bit lol

    I don’t think the P3 gauge is accurate at all at reading the ACTUAL iat numbers.

      I've compared it with logs & it's pretty accurate... Might read slightly higher. I'll do a video comparing iat read out & log numbers soon.

      Absolutely. The recovery times on my iat's are extremely fast now
