Just made this recipe sans allspice. It's outstanding! I used 1/3 cup each of almonds, cashews and pecans instead of almond meal and boiled sweet potatoes in water with whole cloves and a cinnamon stick in addition to recipe, used whole vanilla bean instead of extract - tastes delicious. Thank you!
+Off The Grid Health Thank you so much! I am going to try that method of cooking the potatoes in clove, cinn. water. Great way to add more flavor! Glad you enjoyed it!
how much did u end up spending on all the ingredients?
I like your videos! Very healthy desserts! Sometimes there's just a bit too much information. But you are one of the best plant based cooking show on youtube! You make being a vegan easy and enjoyable. Thanks!
Franz
Thank you so much Franz 🤗
Never too much info. She is clear, precise, and so passionate about her food. Wonderful.
@@donnatecce1884 too much information dragged out for me in a recipe video. Now a class, that's understandable. Too each his own.
Sweet potato pie is much better than pumpkin... 👍🏻‼️and nutmeg is a key ingredient😁
Jill, you were just as adorable then as you are now and you always make the best videos. Thank you so much for giving us so many wonderful options for something yummy to eat but in a healthy way. And I bet that pie was delicious. God bless!!
Jill, this tastes great. I made it for Thanksgiving and it was great. I omitted the pie crust and simply baked it. Thank you.
+twopekes Thank you! Great idea to make it without the crust.
I love your channel. I'm switching to Nutritarian. This is helping me out immensely . Thank you. I hope you keep making more videos. I will pass your channel around. Thx!
You the best thank You so much 😊 I eat a lot sweet potatoes 🍠 Can wait to try 💕I wish I could have a piece of your pie right now My mouth is watering 👐
I think I would keep the Cashews whip cream separate, and add a dollop on each piece...
Everything you make I LOVE, Can Not Wait to make this. Thank you X
Thank you for the kind words. I'm so happy you like the recipes!
You should check out The Blendtec. I have been learning more about it and it looks like a great blender too.
Crust can be made w almond or oatmeal, I just love it! Now, is there a savory pie crust recipe?
Thanks for sharing, I like your all video, all food the best, healthy, no sugar no oil no salt, no animal product, of course. Thank you and God bless you.
I can't wait to try this!!!! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! See you tomorrow 🤗
I love your recipes and your videos. I'm wondering if it is possible to substitute raisins for the dates in this recipe (and some of your others where you use dates)? Or does it change the recipe a lot?
That would work
It is just a basic Vitamix. Pretty much the only one you can get here in NZ.
Another one! Is there any substitution for the unsweetened coconut in the crust? My nearest Sprouts is an hour away. 🙁
Thx Jill!
Brenda 🌼
Almond flour
@The Whole Food Plant Based Cooking Show thank you!!! 😊
That looks great and I can't wait to make it. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
+twopekes thanks for watching the show! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
Orange/red is your color 🤗 you look good...
I thought those were red blood cells over your stove lol 😂 anywhos I love this recipe very much
Fast forward to today's date, and you might think it is a virus.
I'm making this Tuesday. Office Christmas party.
+champagne5552000 Great! I hope everyone enjoys it!
This looks fabulous! I love how the recipe calls for dates rather than the traditional brown sugar. Couple questions: what type of coconut milk did you use here? Cartoned, canned lite, or canned full fat? Also do you think corn starch would work instead of arrowroot? I'd imagine so but I'm not sure. Can't wait to make it!
I used regular canned coconut milk. Wait till you taste your finished pie. It will be fabulous! Enjoy!
Have you made it yet? If so how was it?
Hi !! one question: is your almond meal just almonds simply blended into a flour, or the pulp that remains after making almond milk? It probably can be both in this case, I'm curious which one you use...... Thank you!
Kirali
It is ground up almonds.🤗
Are you using Medjool dates? Do you chop the dates before adding them to the measuring cup? Because it would affect how much will fit in the cup. Also, are the soaked cashews still wet/damp when you add them to the blender? Thanks
Generic
Yes, they are medjool dates that are not chopped. The cashews are still wet from draining 🤗
This looks delicious! How many sweet potatoes did you use?
4 ( about 3 1/2 cups )
Doesn’t this contain to my sugar from dates? How many grams of sugar? But it looks delicious and would like to make this pie. But I consume to much sugar.
Lovely recipe! Thanks a lot for sharing!
I've seen that blender in a vegan video before.
Is that some sort of common high end vitamix model?
Maybe I should get one of those
*I want to make this for my grandmother, but she is diabetic and I was wondering if there was any substitutes for coconut milk?*
You can use any type of plant milk👍🤗
The Whole Food Plant Based Cooking Show Thanks so much!
Any substitute for the coconut in the crust? This is incase, I have a hard time getting finding it.
Davison Thomas
You could just use a half cup more of nuts🤗
Could you use aquafaba and maple syrup for the cream part so it is a fluffier cream?
Mary Boo
Yes
I can eat coconut. What can I use instead?
You could use oat flour ( blend some rolled oats in blender ) That is for the crust. For the filling, any other plant milk will work instead of coconut milk.
Hi, I'm new to your channel and I love it. Where to you get your dates from, and can you get them with Pitts? Thank you!
Mona Leggett
I just buy them from the grocery store. They usually have bulk dates in the produce section. They have both pitted and non-pitted.🤗
Is there something else I could use other than the almond meal? My Uncle is allergic to Almonds.
You can use any nut you like. Macadamias or pecans would be delicious
+The Nutritarian Cooking Show Thanks very much. Would other nuts work okay for the Lava Cake as well?
Yes, it works just as well with other nuts in that recipe too. Hope you enjoy both!
+The Nutritarian Cooking Show Thank you so much! I hope to make them soon. Already made your cabbage soup, very very good!
OATMEAL!!!
I'm sorry, I meant without Pitts? Thanks!
How can I get the recipe?

It's really not sugar free, it's no sugar added. All those dates have lots of natural sugar.
Note that the title is "refined sugar free".
Dates are low glycemic!
All plant foods have all macronutrients, including carbohydrates, which do include sugar, starch, and fiber. Dates are very high in sugar, but when consumed as a whole food, the sugar does not cause the huge spike in blood sugar that would be caused by table sugar. The protein, fiber, and other phytonutrients help modulate the response. I ate lots of dates and my HbA1C is perfectly normal.
