    Just made this recipe sans allspice. It's outstanding! I used 1/3 cup each of almonds, cashews and pecans instead of almond meal and boiled sweet potatoes in water with whole cloves and a cinnamon stick in addition to recipe, used whole vanilla bean instead of extract - tastes delicious. Thank you!

      +Off The Grid Health Thank you so much! I am going to try that method of cooking the potatoes in clove, cinn. water. Great way to add more flavor! Glad you enjoyed it!

    I love your recipes and your videos. I'm wondering if it is possible to substitute raisins for the dates in this recipe (and some of your others where you use dates)? Or does it change the recipe a lot?

    It is just a basic Vitamix. Pretty much the only one you can get here in NZ.

    This looks fabulous! I love how the recipe calls for dates rather than the traditional brown sugar. Couple questions: what type of coconut milk did you use here? Cartoned, canned lite, or canned full fat? Also do you think corn starch would work instead of arrowroot? I'd imagine so but I'm not sure. Can't wait to make it!

    Hi !! one question: is your almond meal just almonds simply blended into a flour, or the pulp that remains after making almond milk? It probably can be both in this case, I'm curious which one you use...... Thank you!

    Are you using Medjool dates? Do you chop the dates before adding them to the measuring cup? Because it would affect how much will fit in the cup. Also, are the soaked cashews still wet/damp when you add them to the blender? Thanks

    • @wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow
      @wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow  7 років тому +1

      Generic
      Yes, they are medjool dates that are not chopped. The cashews are still wet from draining 🤗

      You could use oat flour ( blend some rolled oats in blender ) That is for the crust. For the filling, any other plant milk will work instead of coconut milk.

      I just buy them from the grocery store. They usually have bulk dates in the produce section. They have both pitted and non-pitted.🤗

    It's really not sugar free, it's no sugar added. All those dates have lots of natural sugar.

      All plant foods have all macronutrients, including carbohydrates, which do include sugar, starch, and fiber. Dates are very high in sugar, but when consumed as a whole food, the sugar does not cause the huge spike in blood sugar that would be caused by table sugar. The protein, fiber, and other phytonutrients help modulate the response. I ate lots of dates and my HbA1C is perfectly normal.
