I found this recipe on Pintrest and we love it. We eat Plant based SOS free and this is perfect dessert option. My husband, who doesn’t care much for desserts, loves it and asks me to make it weekly.
It’s great to see other people making healthier choices and options with food and baking. It’s so satisfying eating something that you know the contents and can recognize all the ingredients…..love WFPB
Jean W Awesome! Hope you like it too! I found it tasted best fresh out of the oven. My husband thought it was a bit too much topping, so next time I’ll prob add even more fruit! Enjoy 🤗
I have some tired looking apples and rolled oats though no steel-cut oats so I will be making this as the rest are pantry staples for me (though I will need to check the vanilla essence levels) I will make it this afternoon and have it for an afternoon tea treat today and use it as dessert for our evening meal too. Thank you also for introducing me to Shane and Simple which looks like it has some good recipes.
Awesome! This recipe is perfect for tired looking apples! 😄🍎🍏 And rolled oats will work great here .. no worries! I think it would even be fine without vanilla if you end up not having any.. maybe just a pinch extra cinnamon instead! So glad you are loving Shane & Simple too. He has great recipes. 😄 Enjoy the crumble!
@@LetsEatPlants Steel cut oats were beyond shops here in Bielefeld, Germany. I have oat groats - whole ones and I could have pulsed them but went with two cups of rolled oats. I got vanilla extract and then was a little heavy handed with it. We had it for afternoon tea with cashew cream blitzing equal amounts of cashew and water and a dash of maple syrup. It was delicious! So we are having a second slice with our evening meal.
@@johncrwarner Sounds lovely! Glad you were able to get some vanilla. 😄 Cashew cream drizzle sounds like a perfect compliment. So glad you enjoyed it! 🤗🌱🌱
Some people think I weird because I will no longer consume processed sugar. I do use Greek honey which is from wild plants and rare blooms :) Looks great and thought you did a great presentation. I take bits and pieces from dif people and put things together. Let’s Crumble into the long dark winter. 👋👋👋❤️
I recently made zucchini bread, and it called for 3 tablespoons of ground flax seed , like in your recipe, And it ended up tasting like dish soap so much so after a bit I ended up throwing it away and I hate to do that so I’m glad that yours didn’t end up tasting like that.
Either! I like to buy it already ground, just because it's easier! You can also buy whole flax and grind them yourself in a coffee grinder as needed. 😀 Either way you buy it... keep it in the fridge to keep it fresh longer!
Nice! I felt it might need that. 😅 I haven’t found a good vegan vanilla ice cream yet... but I was also thinking you could do banana nice cream to keep it WFPB!
I run a restaurant and usr Earth Balence olive oil spread. It really helps bake the crumble. I realize that you are trying to go oil free so I'm not sure. Myb more apples and less oats?? Myb more of the steel-cut oats and less of the regular? That is only a guess. Maybe more cinnamon and syrup?? I will try and make this myself next week, I'll prob make some with and without the butter spread. Maybe an option for people wouldn't be the worst thing??
@@monamelte8466 Yep! The goal was for an oil free/ vegan butter free version. I have made a few with vegan butter and they've always turned out well. But I do know many of my viewers like to have an oil free option. I'm definitely open to tweaks on it! Let us know what you find out next week. Excited to hear your thoughts! 😀

Oh that’s wonderful! Shane (of Shane & Simple) really makes some great recipes.... especially for us WFPB eaters! So glad you are enjoying it too. 😊🌱

I made a slight variation on this and it was delicious. Thank you!
So glad to hear that! 🤗🤗
I've been looking for a wfpb apple crumble and this looks like it just might be the answer. I'll be trying this for sure!

This looks scrumptious!!
It turned out pretty well! I love it for a healthy dessert option. 😊😊
Definitely going to try this! Just not sure if i should start with apples, pears or blueberries. So versatile! 👍🏻
Yes! Even a combo of fruits would be lovely!! 🍏🍎 I need to make this again soon as there so many summer fruits available right now. 😄

Oh no! I hate when that happens. Had the flax seed maybe gone bad? It can go rancid like nuts.
Thanks for sharing
You’re welcome! Enjoy. 🤗

Do I buy ground flax or I have to buy flax and then grind it? Not much of a cook here sorry for the q ☺️

@@LetsEatPlants Buying it whole and grinding it at home is super easy and helps it retain its nutritional value. 😊
If you don’t have apple source
You can use other fruit! Would be great with blackberries or peaches! 😋😋

Any suggestions? 🤩
