oh man black worms with a chartreuse tail used to be our juice back in the 90's.. eventually replaced by black with a neon pink tail but both worked well!
I got one of those cheap Zebco spincast reels that just flat out didn't work out of the package (maybe $15) but other than that, I've had good luck with them. My first starter combo was an Ugly Stik and with a little care, it's still kicking! So many memories and such a good combo.
I bought an ugly stik "dock rod" or something. Small pole for I'm assuming kids lol. This is perfect for what I like doing, many decent bass on it. Size isn't everything but quality is.

I think it's safe to say that the Walmarts in Florida probably have the best fishing section. I went to Walmart in Connecticut today to get some stuff for a friend who is just getting into fishing. I picked out that same exact Abu Garcia Ike dude combo. Even though the companies make lower quality just for walmart, that combo is pretty solid. For example, if you buy any Mitchell stuff at Walmart it's made in china, not France

I live in New Jersey but was in Indiana for training for my job. Went to the local Walmart to get some tackle and they were absolutely loaded with gear. The Walmart’s I go to normally only have about half of what they had.
I think from the 80's is 75% gimmick stuff to get more and more and don't get cheeper. Clearance sale I'm on it. Got a Lew's LZR pro baitcaster combo medium heavy fast 7 foot for $17 so happy with it. I like the white black and red nice looking rod - pole 🎣 pay less and play more 👍🏼
Yo so my brother and I went to Port St. Lucie for a private charter out of the random, he ended up buying a 6000 Penn setup and next day hooked a sailfish on the reel in. Like he paid 60$ to hook a sail. And it wasn’t a small one. Absolutely not shot of him landing it, but later on that day I caught my first cobia, 50” and 40 lbs on the dot. Was a crazy day but love the vids. Come to st Aug soon!
By the way love the vids, didn’t know how to feel at first cause I been watching for a min.. but your growth/learning is amazing. Love seeing the enthusiasm of how blessed you feel catching really anything. Makes me actually wanna start my UA-cam channel
I have the same rod and i use it for bass' pike and catfishing stock reel sucks and the butt of the blank is starting to crack i have had the pole for around 9-10 months
