- In this Fishing Challenge I take you guys with me to Walmart with a budget of $100! Rod/Reel, Lures, etc had to be purchased all within the $100 budget. How high are the prices in 2022? Does Walmart have quality gear? We then take our new gear out to test it in the waters and see if we can catch some fish!

Yeah, I’ve found that the Walmart selection has been lacking lately. Hopefully, they’ll stock better now that summer is over.
I feel like not enough people shop for fishing stuff in Walmart it’s literally so underrated 🔥
It's kind of a catch 22 here in Delaware. Nobody goes there because they never have anything worth it, and they never have anything worth going for because nobody goes there. Once they stock the shelves with some better stuff, they will definitely get more customers.
@@tonythetiger3017 here in North Carolina (at least where I live) have isles full of fishing stuff so that’s pretty much only where I go to buy fishing stuff
@@jooshoutdoors8501 It's terrible up here. I went to one of the Walmarts and they didn't even have the freshwater lures on the shelves. They were in boxes on the bottom of the shelf that you had to rifle through to hopefully find what you wanted.
Maybe b/c half the stuff he showed was broken?
Walmarts In Utah are generally pretty solid. We don’t have salt water gear here though of course.

The Walmarts near me have ONE baitcaster combo, it's a $100 Daiwa combo. That would be the entire budget for this video lol
One thing they need for the fishing section is more employee presence. That would deter people from disassembling the reels. And preferably an employee who actually knows about fishing. I once had an employee ask ME questions about fishing so they could get to know that section better lol

Hello I just started fishing again after like 40 years since we moved to lower Delaware I love watching these Walmart challenges. That's all we have down here Cabala's is to pricey and Dicks doesn't have much.

Apple cider donuts from Milburn Orchards in Elkton is my favorite thing about fall.
The Abu Garcia vengeance baitcaster combo pre-spooled with line and 2 lures included was going for $75. I picked one up last week for $40! Can't go wrong with that. Thanks for the video!

I have that yellow telescopic Pack-It rod (not the reel though) and I use it for snapper and cocktail bluefish. It's an awesome ultralight salltwater setup with a 1000-size KastKing Valiant Eagle spinning reel, and 8-lb braided line.

That ten dollar Ozark trails reel and rod combo has lasted me a year, till have it and still use it. Only upgrade I made was the reel, only upgraded because I didn't trust it but honestly it landed me my pb smallmouth in a heavy current river on white rooster tail.

Walmart outdoor departments are stocked by the department manager. So how good of a fishing section your local Walmart has depends on if the department manager is a fisherman or not. If they are not then you will just get the basic corporate selection which sucks. If the department manager is a avid fisherman then you'll get a absolutely fire fishing section at cheap prices.

Walmart has their Ozark trail baitcast combo for about 35 to 40 which works really well. Hard to find though, but it's solid except the line that comes with it is pretty crappy and tends to go between the spool and the housing.
I work at Walmart and you’re much better off NOT buying rods/reels there. Other customers break them, steal parts off of them, clueless associates don’t add on all the parts, or they come in broken. Do yourself a favor and go to another store and spend a few dollars more.

Had an idea pop in my head. Surviival challenge. What I have in my home. 3 day thing though. Or a 1 min quick grab n go. Idk. Something I just thought of
I fish saltwater but they have a decent selection in San Diego closer to the water, I buy my Berkeley's big game high visibility line at Walmart 7 bucks for 695 yds of quality mono. Never have issues and can spool 2 reels with it. Not bad imo. I also buy krocodile spoons, kastmasters, Berkeley's sandworms and swimbaits. A while back i got an Shakespeare alpha rod from them that they no longer carry and i love that rod, 12' mh. But the current selection of rods are limited. Since fishing the surf frequently i must say the best budget reel for saltwater is the Ozark saltwater resistant 6000. It has 13 internal seals and i have a few of them let me tell you... They are gold. I dunk them 3 to 4 times a week and as long as you clean them thoroughly they are legit.
I bought a Shakespeare agility baitcast reel and a Shakespeare G 2 rod to put it on and really enjoy using it.

I got my first rod in Walmart we got some lures and some bait and i was not used to any of it at all and my first fish was a bluegill. I still remember when ever they bite i thought thy were on

Walmart is my go-to fishing supply vendor. With $100, I can get months of supplies for catfishing, panfishing, etc.
I would have chosen ozark trail rod that is the main brand i fish with and the otx pro baitcaster is amazing
Odd we are in a Fall heatwave here right now. getting as high as the upper 90's but it still has that Fall feel to the air. not muggy Summer heat by more of a dry Fall heat.

I was at a Walmart maybe 10 minutes from my house for some catfish stuff and there was a 35 dollar ozark trail baitcaster combo that didn’t reel terrible
I caught a 10 lb 6 oz Bass on a zebco 33 and zebco rod
I would have bought some p-line braid to spool onto that reel, the line is junk and twisted.
On the small rod you saw, if you caught a 10 pounder you’d probably land it because that rod caught a 40 pound carp

The fish have no idea what your holding , if there out there and biteing you will catch em. I been fishing 58 years and only ever buy cheap fishing gear and usually catch more fish that anyone aeound me....... Like I said the fish have know idea what your fishing gear costs.

What up 1st State. I'm coming live and direct from Wilmington. I think it would be dope if you do a best out of 3 challenge... Hear me out. Take a day spend 2 hours at a lake/pond, creek/river, and the ocean. See which produces the most and or biggest fish.
Do you still have that huge motor home? If you love apple cider you should come up to mass. We have crazy amounts of apple fields where you can pick apples and they sell apple cider AND my favorite fresh apple cider donuts!

The series is someone just starting out. If you have nothing then can't just wait around for a deal.

Wacky rigs man they are so simple and so effective it’s funny how A lot of us always spend money on all these fancy lures but when fishing gets tough we go back to a simple cheap wacky rig and we start catching fish lol
