The fast-talking Axel Foley makes his long awaited return in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. While certainly having it's faults, I found this to be a fun and enjoyably nostalgic return for the character and franchise.

You have no idea how relieved I was as soon as I saw the thumbnail for this.
The bar for this movie was "be better than Coming 2 America" and I'm glad this sailed over that bar
Oh it did a triple backflip over the bar. Coming 2 America was awful.
Haven't seen that one. But I am content with getting a better movie than Beverly Hills Cop 3.
Yessir. He couldnt do Axel without being old Eddie. Just wouldnt work.
Weird we got Bad Boys 4 and BHC 4 in the same year, let alone 2024 lol
Nobody is talking about the Happy Gilmore crossover
I putting this out there in the universe “a Beverly Hills cop and bad boys crossover “.
Plus a Rush Hour Crossover
Plus Nothing to Lose (even though Martin Lawrence is in Bad Boys) and Men In Black (even Though Will Smith is in Bad Boys) and Big Mamma House Keeping (even though Martin Lawrence is in Nothing To Lose and Bad Boys) and lastly The Garfield movies with Bill Murray if you dont Make a crossover movie then We must hope they all show up in Deadpool & Wolwerine…..
Yeah they should do a crossover.
Jurassic Park & Fast & Furious have to get involved to somehow.
@@zacharyashmore1830 that is hilarious ty I needed that
I hope rush hour 4 does also a solid comeback, because i love the series even the 3rd film.
Wait, what? There's a Rush hour 4??? What planet have I been living on, when does that come out?
@billyrattlesticks6949 its still being in development no date has been confirmed yet.
@@transformersfan3509 Ahhh ok, cheers pal :)
I'm worried about that, especially with how old Jackie Chan has become
@maldon3659 Yeah, but who knows what could happen.
I love when you tell stories about you and your dad. It sounds like he did the best he could and seems to have raised a great person.
Thank you
No opening skit, that doesn’t happen often
I know it doesn’t
Great to see Axel Foley back 😊, I'd love to see a Bad Boys and Lethal Weapon Crossover with Beverly Hills Cop, the ultimate cop buddy movie event 😂
I hate most legacy sequels, but this was pretty good and far better than the 3rd movie. It's a nice send off for these characters. I know he's like 85 but I wish we got a Ronny Cox cameo. I would still give it like a 7/10
The other good legacy sequel was "Top Gun: Maverick"
A month ago, I binge watched the Beverly Hills Cop Movies for the first time in anticipation for this movie. Just finished watching Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024) an hour ago and I had a blast with this movie and I'm giving it an 8/10.
Same
Honestly thats the tome they should add to the rest of the movies from nowo n. Its just the tone setter for Beverly hills cop from now on. The music and themes. Esp The song Shakedown.
Christopher MacDonald was playing golf in this movie, as Netflix is working on Happy Gilmore 2. They might connect the two franchises with just a small line in HG2
The director specifically put Chris in that role because he was Shooter McGavin and he thought it would be a funny cameo.
Really??? Awesome! That means Hubie Halloween is in continuity here too!
Huge fan of the "Beverly Hills Cop" movies & grew-up watching them. But I must say I'm pleasantly surprised when I heard about this movie, I had no idea it was being made !
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. A very solid 7.5/10. A great return to form considering it was a netflix project. I'm so glad this wasn't a dumpster fire. Many franchises have awful entries and this isn't one. 😁
I’m glad to hear you like it. I’m sure I will too. Funny fact the amusement park in part 3 is the Six Flags I frequented as a kid.
They actually shot the theme park scenes at Great America. They also shot a little at Universal Studios.
@@orlandoruizjr3834 yep Great America. That’s the one.
I rate JGL. Dude is super likeable, charismatic, and Third Rock From the Sun is a classic.
Third Rock From the Sun was original and fun. Something Hollywood females are incapable of creating. Hollywood is Anti American junk.
I want an Eddie Murphy & Adam Sandler team up on Netflix. I feel like there could be some real comedy magic there.
Yes yes yes that would be amazing
Happy forth of July, have a great day
The third one is definitely inferior to the first two but it was still a fun movie and I’ve always enjoyed it
3 wasn't tht bad, didn't realize it was that many dislike
@@rascal7855 oh yeah even Eddie Murphy talks bad about it
But is still very good movie but agreed
Just about to dive into your review, but the thumbnail alone made me so relieved. I’ve been looking forward to this for so long.
Im glad to hear this is pretty decent. Wish this would've came out around Dolemite Is My Name. Eddie Murphy was great in that and that could've had him on a roll.
The 3rd one was on cable all of the time in the late 90's
Allllll the time.
It was lol
Get that ranking of all 4 out asap lol 😂
I can't believe he didn't do the Axl Foley laugh. That was a big part of the character.
I just watched it today. It felt so much like the 80’s and mid 90’s classics. Same feel, I didn’t feel like it was a different movie just called Beverly Hills cop. Luv how they added the old nostalgia music to it, and I stay entertained throughout the 2 hours.
Officially excited to watch this on the weekend. Thank you! I also liked Beverly Hills Cop 3 more than most. Quite a few big laughs. And I didn't even know Levitt was in this - he's always great.
i am so excited to see this tomorrow!!
Don’t know what you think Cody but I’m getting a feeling now that audiences are beginning to show more hunger for some of these old school type blockbusters - you know these Jerry Bruckheimer produced films or films of that ilk that are throwbacks to simpler times of the 80s and 90s, like Top Gun Maverick and Bad Boys and now this. I think a portion of the audience seems to be getting tired of the way modern blockbusters are produced.
the closing scene damn near had me tear up with happy tears...
Imo this is the most 80s action movie in quite awhile.
i wish they had brought ronny cox back as well
Hey maybe in the 5th one
Big sigh of relief I can’t Waite to watch this movie. These are the kinda movies I miss just a good cop action movie
I was on the fence about this one, but I found that I agree with 98% of your take on stuff so I’ll give this movie a shot. Also, that’s an awesome shirt you have there. Very underrated album in my opinion. 🤘🏻
This is one of my most anticipated movies of this year. First two are some of my all time favorites. Excited about most of what you said, but it’s a huge bummer that Reinhold and Ashton aren’t co-leads
Great review
Axel talking about the Winnipeg Black Guys and pretending to be the Red Wings last minute call up goalie was comedy gold.
Thanks for this review!
Such an awesome movie. Just woke up to it on netflix. Brought back so many memories from those days but yea nice review and stay safe chief
Oh damn it doesn’t totally suck..?
Fuck yes.
Part 3 was also my favorite as a kid and after years of not seeing any of these movies, I saw parts of 3 from tv a while back and was still having a great time with it. It's so nostalgic for me now. That annoyingly catchy wonderworld song still plays in my head from time to time. 😁 Glad to hear this new one might be better than I feared!
I been waiting for this review! Can’t wait to watch it tmrow!
The third one was also my favorite and its so glad to have that validated lol.
I'm really excited to sit down and watch this. This, to me, was one of his shining moments in his career. This character.
Been waiting for this
WHHOOO BOY I'VE BEEN SITTING ON THIS FOR TWO WEEKS CODY.
😊 I SEEN IT EARLY BRAH. ARENT YOU GLAD THAT THE TRIUMPHANT 3 IS BACK‽‽‽
I also don’t mind the third one. One of my favorite scenes in the whole series of films is when he props up the body and points with it, and says, “He went up those stairs”
needs that Bev Hills ranking !!
need that Eddie Murphy ranking 🤔
All we need now is rush hour 4
🥴🤮
This was a fantastic watch! 👏 👏 👏 👏 Well done.
My ranking 1,2,3. I’ll update when I see 4
Thank goodness this was better than part 3, my personal ranking for me is BHC 2, BHC, BHC 4 and 3.
This review is good and im looking forward to the movie
but the trick or treat shirt is the greatest part of it🤘
Just finished watching this. It was actually quite good! It definitely was a hell of a lot better than Cop 3. There were a lot of call backs to the other films and it was nice to be able to recognize them. Not bad at all!
Love the first 3 movies. Used to watch them non stop. Good review
I also loved Part 3 as a kid and still to this day, possibly because of nostalgia, still rank them 1>3>2 ... Probably watching 4 tonight or tomorrow
The thumbnail is a good sign
Your review was 100% spot on.
This movie was good. Way better then part 3 😁 lol
If they had taken out a few of the car conversations with the daughter and matched the music with what's happening on screen it would have been really good I think. It still beats 2 and three for me definitely.
@CodyLeachYT as far as villains go which do u think was better after watching BHC:AF 🤔 Ellis DeWald or Kevin Bacon's character ( Im assuming he is the villain & no I havent seen Beverly Hills Cop Axel Foley)
Interesting. Okay. I'll watch it.
I just now got a notification for this.....youtube trippin
Cody has the best t-shirt game on youtube. Always fire 🤘💯
Hey Cody That's A Sick Shirt Your Wearing. I Love That Movie. Where Did You Buy It?
Thank god, I was worried about this movie being bad
Saw it last night! I loved it!!!
I agree with almost all of this review. I also love Beverly Hills Cop 3 and grew up with it. I thought the comedy was there in this movie. The action was fun. The soundtrack was biblical. I couldn’t have cared less about the relationship with Axel Foley and his daughter. It totally bogged down parts of the movie. I don’t even think she was needed other than to be the excuse for him to go back to Beverly Hills. All of those extra scenes should’ve just been with Eddie and JGL.
I just finished watching it and I thought it was way better than I thought it would be.
Yes i was very upset John Ashton wasnt in 3.
But this made up for it 👍🏽
I can hear Axel’s chuckle in my head now…. 😂
I think me and you are the only ones that don't hate part 3 lol. I can still enjoy 3 for the Eddie factor. The story for this was cliche and Kevin Bacon was the obvious villian but it was fun. This is the best of the sequels for me but I might need to re watch part 2 again to see for sure. This flick was great fun and all the old actors had there charm again. Only other problem I had was I missed Billy's character he was underused and that was a mistake. I assume the reason why was because they probably felt they needed some young blood to see the movie more. But if they do a 5th I suspect the next one will be the old gang at center stage again like before. This movie almost felt like a testing ground to get the series going again for more sequels to me.
They should've team up Axel & joseph Gordon levitt since the beginning of the movie. They got great chemistry. And Rosewood should've join the team sooner
Just finished it and i really enjoyed it. Was a good sequel. Really nice seeing Eddie back as Axel and thought he and JGL had fun chemistry.
That ozzy ultimate sin shirts kills
Serge was in the 3rd one too
It's good 2 see the old gang back 2gether.
I wonder if he'll be sticking a banana in the tailpipe again. 😉😂🤣 But seriously, does sound interesting, and I'm sure I'll check it out. However, now I know why the bundle of the first 3 movies is currently on sale, which I plan on taking advantage of when I get paid tomorrow. Did enjoy your review. Thank you, Cody.
I mean we’ve all put our bananas in a tailpipe at least once.
“Axel F is the Top Gun Maverick of Beverly Hills Cop movies”
Weird shirt, it’s a mix of Sammi Curr of Trick Or Treat with Ozzy from the Ultimate Sin album
I watched it last night and agree with most of your thoughts. It was a bit too nostalgia heavy for me. Had this come out around the time of The Force Awakens, it probably would have landed better for me but in 2024, I'm kind of over shameless nostalgia bait. I love the soundtrack for those first two movies, but that first 15 minutes was just shamelessly calling back to the opening of the first two movies and it felt kind of cheap to me.
I liked the storyline between Axel and his daughter and most of his scenes with Joseph Gordon Levitt were good. "94...not your finest moment" 😂. I also really liked Kevin Bacon as the villian.
I've never hated the third movie but it's clearly the weakest in the franchise. I liked this one a little more than that but it's still nowhere near as good as the first two.
Still, I was expecting this to be a lot worse so I can't really call it a disappointment. I enjoyed it enough and will probably watch it again.
Like someone said a bad boys and beverley hills cop crossover would be awesome Beverley Hills Bad Boys anyone ???
The 3rd one was also my favorite as a kid.
For me also
I agree with the daughter thing. Dialogue throughout was a bit wonky from everyone, and I thought maybe they talked a bit much. As for the music, I kind of wished that they would spread out the big three, one for each act, Shakedown during the box truck would have killed.
Otherwise, I really liked the film and thought there were enough scenes that really had that BHC feeling. And Eddie was fantastic dropping into this role, and even some modern commentary but with Axels sensibilities was hilarious.
Yea the 5th film is being written Eddie said. But i also sent and idea to Jerry Bruckhiemer for the 5th
My idea had Taggart ,Rosewood and Axel working together again.
To find out whos this new big bad villians son that just got out of prison. Targeting them and their familys. And kidnapped Janes mother. Which brings Axel back to LA to reunite 1 last time with Taggart and Rosewood to being this New big bad down. And get Janes mother back.
What do yall think of that premise?
The villian is supposed to be the dark tone of the movie like Max was in bev cop 2.
Which makes Eddie the lighter tone to the movie just like bev cop 2.
Can't wait to watch. I love Eddie.
I so agree with you on axels daughter,,there was no chemistry between them, and her acting was so wooden that it could be called bad acting?,,,she was humourless, miserable and boring,,,she didn't want to be like her dad,but I'm sure they could of eventually made her completely vibrant
I watched i give it a 7/10. This one was to wrote the wrong from tne throd film 1994.
1 and 2 are and will go down as iconic. 1,2 and 4 are my obvious one's
I remember noticing Chris Rock in 3, hes got like 1 line
I think it was 3, maybe it was 2
It was 2
@@sameerwafa2943 thanks, its been 20 years since ive seen it 😅
What about Damon Wayans has the banana guy in the first one?
Now we need a rush hour 4
Ok loved the movie but QUESTION? Do you think the the helicopter scene with the Rotor being shot out and then crashing was dig at John Landis? First thing i though of when it i seen it.
The daughter is easily the worst part of the movie. Not only is she estranged from her father, but she's estranged from her boyfriend as well. So there's 2 identical plot points that eat up WAY to much screen time. A tighter script could've eliminated her completely. Axel goes back to Beverly Hills because Billy disappears after uncovering evidence of corrupt cops. There's your plot. No need for the daughter or her subplot of proving some gang banger innocent. Instead have more scenes of Murphy irritating Kevin Bacon, as is the nature of his character to do that. But with the daughter, the movie is at least 20 minutes too long, but feels like more because she derails it every time she's on screen. It's an ok movie. Not nearly as good as the first 2 but not nearly as bad as 3.
Watched it and loved it smiled the whole way through, but I have to ask whoever is the Eddie Murphy signature laugh!???
What I want to know js , will Netflix release it on DVD ?!
I saw beverly hills cop 3 the most and its my favorite. I probably saw it on hbo in the 90s like 30 times as a kid lol
Man was I scared about this movie, I thought it would be terrible, now I’m excited.
That wet blanket character was also in the classic Uncle Buck (1989). He was the fun loving uncle and his eldest niece contiually poo poo'ed on everything he said and did throughout all of their exchanges until the end of the 3rd act when he finally won her over and she became nicer to him and her family in general. We've seen that bad attitude character before in comedies. It's not a new trope. It's been around for decades.
The difference is the battle of wills between Buck and Tia is the entire point of the movie. It’s also where the best comedy in the movie derives from. No comedy comes from Axel and his daughter’s tension.
I like that shirt.
Hi Cody, are you going to review Longlegs?
Just wanted to hear that Eddie Murphy was back to his roots and being Eddie Murphy. Thanks Cody!
Negative: Not shown in theaters?
