  • The Switch is in an odd phase right now where we have an incredible recent release with Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, but also tons of rumors about new hardware on the horizon. If you haven't grabbed a system yet, are you better off waiting at this point?

      It would be crazy if it wasn’t, all they truly need is a Switch 2, literally with that name, no weird “new” or “U”. • @Synathidy
      @Synathidy Рік тому +7

      @@JLudd Wrong. Nintendo's surest route to failure with their next hardware release is to release another kind of Switch and call it "Switch 2." That will minimize sales of whatever it is, guaranteed. The Switch brand is stale now, like the Wii brand was stale just before Nintendo launched the Wii U. Nintendo never succeeds at making anything "powerful." Their success is always from doing new and innovative things no one sees coming that totally shift the gaming sphere and turn all conventions and expectations upside down. I currently still use the launch edition Switch, with a 512GB micro SD card. Until recently, I didn't think that the OLED was something I needed to upgrade to, until I learned of the internal storage for the OLED being 64 GB vs the 32 GB internal storage of the model I own. Learned of this when I went to open a game the other day and it told me I needed to make space for a save file. Ended up deleting a few demos, but now I'm wondering is it time to get the OLED or do I go the cheaper route and go to a 1TB micro SD card? The only time I play my Switch not on a dock is for maybe 45-ish minutes on my break at work. Most of my game time is in dock mode.
    As for what Nintendo does next, I am crossing my fingers that I can take my Switch library to it, including physical games. Obviously this might be unlikely to happen, but my Switch library is the largest game library I have ever owned. My fingers are crossed that they go for more of a smartphone-like upgrade system. Where the next device is just more powerful than the current, but can play most everything the current gen has, plus more demanding titles.

    I need some advice please . I have a special edition red box switch that I use almost exclusively in docked mode, A) I find it too big to take with me and I don’t want it to get scratched or damaged, B) most decent Cary cases or shells I simply can’t carry round because they’re adding even more weight and bulk. Is it worth buying a switch lite to take around whilst keeping my existing one in docked? The oled is out of my budget and is still larger than I’m able to can carry with me…any help would be appreciated!

    Some context for the OLED Price point. $350 right now is equivalent to $280 in March 2017 when the original Switch released (accounting for inflation). Probably one of the best times to get a switch rn tbh. I got the first OLED model and have been absolutely loving it. that will NEVER happen.
      no matter how you look at it, Nintendo will not make a sub-part form of emulation for their old hardware - many DS games require actual physical input (for example GBA slot accessories) - Nintendo can't "emulate" those. and many 3DS games make use of the cameras - Nintendo can't emulate that either. and Nintendo are "perfectionists". if they can't develop an emulator with 100% game compatibility for their older hardware they just simply don't do that. this is why Nintendo never made an emulator for Wii and WiiU games.
      they rely on hardware that is not possible to emulate (WiiU's tablet controller, Wii'''s IR control functionality etc.) and even games which were ported from Wii and had their motion controls adjusted to work with the Switch's Joy-Cons don't play as well as they used to on the OG Wii itself with the Wiimote and Nuncuck.

Like I'm so glad I wasn't remotely interested in the Switch when it first came out. Now I own an OLED and I love it. I freaking love my switch! Actually, I have three...😅 It took me a while to get a switch when they first came out because they were impossible to find anywhere and sold out so fast. But eventually I got one with Grey joy-cons and A pro-controller. When the OLED first came out, I didn't think I would need one because I almost always played in Docked mode... But then disaster struck and my living situation was changed and I didn't have a TV for a while. So, I got the OLED for the bigger, better screen and gave my old switch to my boyfriend. Then recently the Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Switch came out. I am a massive Zelda fan. I was already upset that I couldn't get the collector's edition because it sold out everywhere within two minutes of being announced. So, I was not missing out on the Switch and Pro-controller. Ironically you can still find the Zelda Switch in several stores, but it is very very hard to find the pro-controller. I hope they don't come out with a new system for a few years at least because otherwise I don't think I can afford it. 😅Or maybe it will be a flop like the Wii-U. Nobody wanted that system!
    There are only two games that I even care about right now. Tears of the Kingdom, and Silksong. And unfortunately, Silksong has been delayed so much the fans might start eating each other if we don't get some news soon!

    I upgraded to an OLED from an OG Switch (pre-Red box) and for someone like me who plays portably 95% of the time, it was 100% worth it. The screen really is that good and the increased battery life hasn't gone unnoticed while playing TotK. It really just *feels* like a premium device, even if the internal hardware is ancient by today's standards.
    My take is, if you're a portable gamer who wants the best experience and *might* want to use it docked once in awhile, the OLED is worth it. If you're only ever gonna play in docked mode and never take it out, just get an old cheap used Switch. I like the Lite but there's not many scenarios where I can honestly say I think it's the best option for someone.

    Idk know if something like this would work but I think they could make a doc that upgrades the specs so there would be games that work like that
