    Wow! Thank you so much for this tip. Saved my day as the treadmill at the gym here doesn’t have BT. Now today’s run will be so much more fun 😊

    Virtual run is a cool feature from Garmin to start running on Zwift but it’s so inaccurate especially on intervals that I decided to get a Zwift pod. It’s relatively affordable and way more accurate that the virtual run

    You may want to look into the Runn equipment to make your treadmill a Smart Treadmill. Speed and cadence will get sent to Zwift via the Runn box and its accurate. I was not happy with the foot pod data on a treadmill. Cheers!

    Just one point. It is enough just to open virtual run on the Garmin watch and start running. Once you start running on the treadmill your avatar will start too. No need to start on the watch.

    Garmin needs to be able to pick up the treadmill as a sensor. Then it would be perfect.
    I use the horizon 7.0 at as speed sensor, the hrm pro+ for heartrate and cadence. My forerunner745 starts my garmin coach workout as a virtual run, which displays on zwift. I then save the workout on my watch and discard the zwift run. There are differences between the garmin recorded event and zwift data. Zwift is relying on the treadmill for speed, which I believe is superior to the garmin recorded movement translated to speed. Without the GPS, the garmin can read wildly different from the treadmill speed.
    Garmin should be able to add the treadmill as a speed sensor in lieu of gps, and then I would be in heaven.

      Hopefully they release that as a feature at some point as I know with the Coros watches you can set the speed that the treadmill is running at.

    Do you use a chest based HR monitor or just the watch? If so could you use this for cadance? I have the Garmin HRM Pro-Plus which records cadence.

    • @ChrisColwillYT
      @ChrisColwillYT  Рік тому

      Yes I do Adam, but it's the Polar H10 so doesn't have the features that your HRM Pro does.

    • @mahtoosacks
      @mahtoosacks Рік тому

      Hrm pro plus is so nice. I use it as my cadence and heart on zwift.
      You can start the workout with the watch as a cadence sensor to do garmin workouts. Once in zwift, you can re-pair the hrm pro+ as cadence and heart. That way, if you have to use your arms for something, your cadence doesn't drop out, and the workout continues.
      My problem is accuracy. I've run plenty enough that garmin should know my movement, but it shows different than what zwift does. Garmin shows my pace as 9:37 instead of 8:34, and even though im running a steady speed, it shows that pace changing. I feel like im running consistently with the same form outside, so i don't know what to do about it.

    • @ChrisColwillYT
      @ChrisColwillYT  Рік тому

      @@mahtoosacks I think you have no choice but to get a footpod if you're worried about the accuracy. I've recently been using the Stryd footpod and it's miles better than using the watch.

    • @No_History222
      @No_History222 Рік тому

      @@ChrisColwillYT Interesting. I'm fine with my watch outside as the GPS helps pace but I've always been a bit unsure of the accuracy of pace using a treadmill. I think I'm running quicker than the watch suggests.

      @@ChrisColwillYTHi. Can I ask if you pair the foot pod to your watch (so you can also measure power on outdoor runs) and then access power and cadence on zwift through the watch, or do you pair the foot pod directly to Zwift?

  • @dmitry.gashko
    @dmitry.gashko 8 місяців тому

    Didn’t try at all yet, but what if you were the watch on your leg? Should it be more accurate and work basically as running sensor?

    • @XLJansen
      @XLJansen 2 місяці тому

      No. These pods are with accelerometers, no GPS.

    • @XLJansen

      And the wrist based speed sensors on some watches are not that good and of course not suitable for the ankle.

    hi there, for this virtual run (garmin forerunner), do i connect to Companion app or Zwift on the phone?

    • @ChrisColwillYT
      @ChrisColwillYT  Рік тому

      You just need to connect it up to whatever you are running Zwift on. Once you have the Virtual Run mode on your watch should pop up as the device to control speed and cadence.

      @@ChrisColwillYT I'm finding that TSS app is the easiest, cheapest and most reliable way to get the treadmill speed fed to other apps like Zwift.
