The Puerto Rican Day Parade (also known as the National Puerto Rican Day Parade) takes place annually in the United States, along Fifth Avenue in the Manhattan borough of New York City,
New York. The parade is held on the second Sunday in June, in honour of the nearly four million inhabitants of Puerto Rico and all people of Puerto Rican birth or heritage residing in the mainland United States.
“I remember very clearly staying in The Sherry Netherlands Hotel in New York with my daughters, Marjorie and Elyn. They were little girls and they were drawing and playing in the hotel suite.
The window was open and right down in front of the window was the Puerto Rican Day Parade, which was just fantastic music going by. At some point during the parade, Marjorie poked her head out and said, “What beautiful noise, Daddy!” It immediately struck me. I had never heard that combination of words before and immediately decided that there was potential there for a song.
I told her that and we are going to write it tonight when Grandma and Grandpa come by. And we did. We wrote it all together. It was a lot of fun.
I brought 'Beautiful Noise' back to Los Angeles and played it for Robbie Robertson. He loved it. That sealed the deal as far as him producing the Beautiful Noise album. We began working together from that point and never looked back.” - ND

_"I Am... I Said" has to be my absolute favourite Neil Diamond song. Heard this song on the radio a couple of times back in 1971, and I was hooked. I listened intently for the name of the singer and the song, and then headed out to my nearest music store. On arrival at the store, I discovered that this, to me then, unknown singer, had two albums (LPs). One was 'Sweet Caroline' and the other was 'Stones'. I then did something that I had never done before... I purchased not one, but both albums, my purchase being made solely on having heard only one song from this singer. This song so moved me..._
_"... I got an emptiness deep inside and I've tried but it won't let me go..."_
_The pain, the tortured cries. This was even more evident in 'I Am... I Said (Reprise)'. Neil's voice, his sincerity and pain, tugged at my heartstrings; he touched my soul. I felt his loss, his pain, for I too, was experiencing those emotions (The story's the same one). I was hooked... a fan for life._
