- No snow so far this year so put together 3 of my best Ontario Southalnd Railway Snow Plow videos. Hope you enjoy them Can't please everyone, can't believe there are over 700 dislikes. :-)

It's so cool to watch snow fly from the train plows. In Minnesota USA we have lots of snow but I'm never around to see the trains plow it

I love these snowplow videos the chaos in blowing snow knocking the shit out of barriers folks up north lucky i love the snow i live in Wichita falls texas people here panic with threat of snow to me its refreshing to me a winters blast tonight i honor u snowfolks wish i there plowing something 2 inches here and people panic i don't i just drive on i love working doing something snow on.
Always a thrill to see the plows in action.

I've watched this video many times, but I always enjoy it! The country where you live is beautiful in Winter, but I don't know how you deal with the cold! Keep in mind that I'm writing from the perspective of a desert rat! It was 103 F in Phoenix today [39 C]!
Chris Ackerley lived in Wisconsin for thirty years. Every year I bargained with myself over what was better, deep snow or bitter arctic cold or both at the same time. Then I found myself moving to Phoenix Arizona. Ahhhhh this is heaven.
Took me many years to embrace winter. Dress for it and it is just another season to m ake you appreciate the summer that much more.
@@railpast That's what I say. As long as you dress right, it's fun to be out in it. I'm turning 60 in Dec. and I certainly feel the cold more than ever these days, but I still enjoy it (or make the best of it). Plus I like to ride and restore vintage snowmobiles, so I am out in it no matter what. Always have been since the 70's. But when the temp gauge drops down around zero or below (F) I stay close to home...and my radiators!! I'm on the top of NY state so I know the same weather they're talking about on this Railroad.

Now thats "cool", love the F-unit in original CN paint #6508, and that "smokin' ALCO/ MLW unit!" It must have been downright cold, from the looks of the diesel exhaust on the 2nd video.

2015 was a light winter down here too. Very much like this past winter, very few storms this year and lots of melt. I think it was 2009 or 2010 there were places nearby that got 8m snowfall because of the lakes.
At 4:00 the guys in the cab were really rocking back and forth. Rough ride!!
Beats any ride at Canada's Wonderland I am told. :-)

Used to get some great shots on Granby Sub (ex M & SC) but alas no more trains, rails gone, bike trail now. Right of way followed provincial road most of the way; made for great photos.Keep up the great videos, we enjoy.

Yes fun to do but can be stressful as always slow drivers and others things seem to get in the way and the plow does not wait for you. :-)

OSR 175 Looks like a former Chessie System loco. The blue cat on the nose didn't get covered very well by the coat of yellow.

ALL trains should have V scoops to deflect the snow. The grinder scoops slow the train down. They need a flame-thrower on the train to burn off snow stuck on the V scoop.

Or just put them on a dedicated train and save the money. There’s no need for every train to have a plow like this, since only one train needs to clear the tracks for the rest.

They really like to lay on the horn in Canada
People don't expect to see a snowplow as they run at times people are not expecting a train. Also visibility for the crews is limited and some crossing only have crossbucks amd no lights or gates.
It will not be too long before you can do that if you live in Southern Ontario.
If they did you could not read it for all the flying snow. :-)
In the UK the whole network shuts down in very light breeze and a leaf on the line at Aberdeen, it becomes a national emergency, thats if they are not on strike first.
Love the guys laugh at 10.28 trains bring out the kid in all of us.

Have to some crossing only have cross bucks and none have gates. Nobody expects a white cloud of snow to actually be moving. :-)

4:40 Failed to go beyond the grade crossing approach track circuit. So the mee-mool lights *(o)T(o)* did not operate until thengine shunted the "island" circuit. (Short section of railspanning over the pavement.) The crew should have known better. Had they hit anyone. railroad would have been in BIG trouble.

Most have wings on the side they can open up and act like flangers.
Set camera on tripod, then operate with remote control while sitting in car.

That line of track is kinda funny. There's periods of very low activity, and very high. People get complacent, it doesn't help there are very few crossings with gates or even lights along it. Or that there are many places where the track doesn't run at 90 to the road but sometimes 75 and there's farm or industry buildings blocking line of sight for drivers.
Like all the time...one guy will attempt to close as the train hoots

Like why/how could you possibly dislike these Snow Plow Videos that are keeping the tracks safe for Passenger VIA Rail & Passenger Am-Track Trains as well as CN/CP Freight Trains & American dude as well with Sante-Fe etc keeping food,feed,oil,fertilizer & so so so many other things to keep Canada/America going.

Because in the first 7 minutes of a 14 minute video, we see a snowplow plowing twice. More time is spent watching the plow go home backwards.
