I would love to see a video about the physicality challenged, disabled and dapper? I am dying to find things to help keep me dapper despite peripheral neuropathy, a cane and a service dog.
Great video! I'm 6'5" and 180lbs. Needless to say, finding clothes that fit is a challenge. I'm on perpetual scavenger hunt to find anything that even comes close. I couldn't agree more that a good relationship with a tailor is essential, as I need to have most of my clothes altered to fit. Made-to-measure is good for dress shirts and business-casual shirts, but casual shirts and sweaters are a different story. Sure, bespoke would be great, but... I used to make the mistake of wearing clothes that were too big in order to look bigger, but with experience I've found that it's better to embrace my thinness and wear properly fitting clothes. Good job Preston. This type of video is more in line with style fundamentals of modern American culture. I like the GG channel, but this type of content is more in alignment with modern mainstream style. I like Raphael's style, but his tastes are more on the fringe of what most men actually wear. Videos about things like fit and glasses are more of what I'm looking for in style videos, without the typical douchery of some of the other men's style channels. I'm finally subscribing in hope of more content like this.
Could you please do a video on jacket linings? The materials (cotton, viscose, polyester, acetate, and more), patterns, half lined, full lined, unlined, and the functionality of each. This is a subject about which there is little information available online, yet whenever I'm buying a jacket I get confused over deciding on the type of lining. Also great video as always!
I'm sure these tips are very helpful for a skinny teenager like me. Possibly the one best thing a skinny guy can do is work out regularly since it increases size, strength and overall health
Preston, your getting better. Nailed it again! Love the green and brown outfit. That tie is an amazing green color combination and be a way better website picture then current (the stripes and blue are distracting). As a 6'-2, 170 pounds (on a diet to get from 33 waist to 32 again), with four inch drop inverted triangle body, enjoyed the presentation. Would say also having coats with waist suppression also can be a benefit as widens the shoulders. I now have coats from strait cut to very suppressed so can choose based on the affect and the environment/situation. Would have not been here if Rafael hadn't helped to reawaken my love of sartorial clothing and more important the most information on the topic.
What a flawless presentation! My tip to Slim Man or any Man (or a Lady) is to fully embrace your natural features. Other people see you the way you perceive yourself. A fictional character on the American sitcom Frasier Dr. Niles Crane could be a great style role model to an elegant slim man. Classic non-stretch/100% cotton slim straight mid-rise medium wash DENIM with with natural-looking fading in thigh and back and very subtle whiskering on a front pocket area could be a great pant alternative to the casual look presented in the video.
As someone who's been directly compared to Dr. Niles Crane on occasion (and in video comments!), I can vouch for this. Thanks for your comments! - Preston
I am 5'8" and 145 lbs and finding well fitting clothes off the rack has been a nightmare. Most shirts and suit jackets that fit my height do not fit my shoulders, and when I find something to fit my shoulders it is generally too baggy. And sleeves are always a few inches too long. This year I finally went made to measure out of sheer frustration. I agree a lot of guys will not afford this but for me it has been a relief and well invested money.
my husband is your height but he struggles to stay above 120 pounds because he's also a drummer. American style jackets are t be worst for him since they're baggy at the waist if they fit at the shoulders. we've given up finding a full suit that fits because the pants just swim on him.
Another well done video. Thank you for sharing such great information. My two favorite moments of subtle comic relief: 1) Any opportunity to show a picture of a pirate shirt 2) The phrase ‘a well-puffed pocket square’. Love that! Dandies the world over gasped with excitement. Keep it coming!
Great video! I like very much the casual style, while the components of the outfit are classic and timeless. I like my suits, but I also like my sweaters, especially on the cold, wet, Oregon days! Being a man of modest height, and a relatively slim build, I will take some of this video with caution, as I do not wish to look overly built horizontally for my height. Notwithstanding, another great video!
Sardar Ji ki haal chal, Rapheal he will be back in few other videos and for some topics that he couldn't make bcoz of lack of time are now made by Preston :)
This video is exatly what I need because i have a very skinny figure! Also very nice video by Preston! Would you consider making a video about classic men's pyjamas and robes? Have a nice weekend and greetings from Germany!
I like the style you guys are encouraging, it's wholesome. But I increasingly feel that the class and structure of society is being eroded away, I both admirer the course you are taking, but feel a twinge of regret that the age of class may have passed. I hope it is not true...
Looking good dude! Takes guts to put yourself out there like this and I think you do it well! Keep up the great work and don’t let the negativity you see get you down; great job 👍🏻
Some companies offer a "slim" cut for sweaters. At 6'4 170lb I definitely want to show some weight but I don't like having too much excess fabric. Bonobos in particular has the widest size availability.
dude, with all due respect, your dressing and hairstyle makes you much older than you actually are. i think you have a lot of room for improvement. cheers!
@@gentlemansgazette I respect that you are so humble and not defensive. You can look at Brian sacawa from hespokestyle for inspiration. I think he dresses very sharply! Cheers Preston!
I think both Preston and Raphael are intentionally going for their desired look. They want to look dapper and of the golden ages of men’s fashion which to some appears dated. I think it looks timeless and classic. I dress far more modern, but this Chanel isn’t for trendy wear, it’s for the timeless styles of the 20th century. These make you look older, but that’s their choice and not a defect of their style.
Thank you for this interesting and helpful video! Could you please do some guides on how to wear and pair purple as well as how to combine different patterns?
Nice, but would like to see content on what to wear when you are NOT a skinny or lean man. This would be interesting to see i.e. how to make a heavy man look good too.
I fit in pants with a 30 waist and 34-36 inseam and wear jackets with broader shoulders. I live in Japan and it is very hard to find sleeves that fit me in local stores. Great video, but it looked like the trousers in the example needed a little taper.
Great content as always! However, what about slim AND small men? Are some tips like wearing horizontal patterns and cuffed hems still valid or should a little more balance be taken into consideration?
Yes, I'd say that you should always try to highlight the aspects of your build that you find most appealing. If you want to look taller and don't mind looking leaner as a result, try to play up that verticality. Thanks for commenting! - Preston
It sounds too simple to be true, but yeah, get clothing that fits you right and you've already done 50% of the work with an outfit looking good, everything else like pattern choice or colour won't work unless it actually fits you.
Do also a video for the opposite . Cause you buy clothing for your current body type and not for when you're gonna lose the weight , so me that I'm in a diet but I have a long way yet I have to search for guidance
10:53 The only thing I don't really dig about this video is the way those pants look on you. That extra fabric would be more appropiate for someone like Raphael (although it's not as severe as the examples you've shown at the beginning ). Otherwise, I'm truly grateful for your advice!
Am I the only one that thinks that pant actually doesn't make him look good? Don't get me wrong, I like the content of this channel. But sometimes I really have a hard time to understand some of the choices esthetic wise. But it is nice to see a new face and narration for the channel!
At the moment, I use Groom & Clean; it's a water-based hair gel, so it washes out much more easily than an oil-based product like Brylcreem. You can find it at most drugstores. I also use a bit of Consort Hairspray for Men (I prefer the non-aerosol bottle). Thanks for your interest! - Preston
They are indeed. A bit more tapering to his whole outfit would be better for him. It drowns him and makes him look skinny! He spoke really well and give good advice yet he needs to listen to his own advice.
I think it was intentional. It showed that Preston is indeed a slim guy. Other parts of the video didn't really show that, as his face is not so narrow as of a typical thin man.
I agree. Preston's clothing -- and especially his jacket are several sizes larger than required. It's not that difficult to look elegant and masculine, even with a very slender build, especially with clothes that are slim fitting, but not tight. Clothing targeted for the Asian markets will typically have very well designed, elegant clothing that will look great on the skinniest guys. There's no need to "bulk up" -- other than through proper physical exercise -- and making oneself look "larger" usually has the effect of the ill-fitting "potato sack" effect.
Dear Preston, This is the first time that I hear that skinny ties do not go with a tall and slender frame build. If this is not correct what is the target body type for skinny ties? Thank you!
you talk about having clothes that fit right, yet the clothes you are wearing hangs off your shoulders, look boxy and your pant legs flap around as you are moving. i cannot fathom how that is proper/slim fitting wrt the body structure..... all the points mentioned are solid, just that the examples shown (which is you wearing not so proper fitting clothes) are not that consistent with what you say.
Being a slim guy myself, I avoid wearing dress pants or khakis. Their fabric is too thin and you can't get away from your skinny legs easily. The suit pants you wear in the video is too roomy and don't flatter your skinny legs. My advice it to wear slim jeans (even skinny at one size larger) or corduroy pants, along with ankle boots of any kind (chukkas, chelseas, brogues, combat boots etc). The tip to avoid big-structured shoes for slim guys which many stylists give doesn't work for me. You can rock an over the ankle casual boot with the pants tucked slightly in and draw the attention of your skinny legs to your shoes.
Your belt is a bit too long and that makes you look too thin for your belt. Usually you can adjust it. Your sweater is a good choice but I think it is a bit too long, making you look thinner. Try folding the bottom end under and see how it looks like.
Preston is great. Good choice for a second face for the show. I'm not a slim man, but I watched this because I enjoy watching Preston.
I totally agree. I like his articulation as well!
Really..he’s super annoying
I disagree. He looks off in a way. Not natural at all.
Well, you can't satisfy everybody. I like the presentation styles of both gentlemen.
Preston definitely did a good job with this video, and although it was a rather long video, he moved it along nicely. It didn't feel long. Good job.

“Thickness of the Knit” is my favorite Jethro Tull album.
Great work Preston! Can’t wait to see more of you :)
Your eyes are aligned with your glasses frame 90% of the time in this video. It really does make the person you're talking to focus on your eyes.
A tip I have and I use to look best and good as a slim man is to "Go monochromatic" . This will permit to the eyes to go up and down uninterrupted.
Well done Preston, good spacing between sentences and delivered slower. I like it. It must be a British thing!
Jo Eltham he doesn't have a british accent though
