The “I am that guy” scene defines Amos’s character perfectly. Prax was one of the few people Amos looked at as a friend. And Amos protects the people he cares about. In that scene, he was protecting Prax from the guilt he knew he would feel over killing someone. Even when they deserve it. “I’m all for killing whoever needs killing”.
In my opinion it doesn’t define the whole character or he would be one dimensional. Don’t get me wrong if that were the case he would still be my personal favorite on the show. I’d say it defines his sense of justice and his facility of violence when he feels it’s necessary. His character arc is very interesting and believable & he’s more in touch with his sense of humanity but his other side is never far away.
Wes Chatham was a troubled youth so he inserts some of that into the Amos character and on to of it, he was in the military as a young man. The casting department really hit it out of the ball park!
I like the choice they made that Amos wasn't some Jason Bourne/John Wick type martial arts expert, just a tougher brawler than most willing to eat your punch to deliver his own.
@@CrankwankBobbie kicking Amos ass in PR is such a badass scene that I’m sad we’ll (probably) never see in live action. “If I ever need to lose a fight, I’ll come to you.”
They could have gone and get some brute actor but they managed to get the one guy that really understood why Amos is who he is. Casting department is the real MVP of this show.
The thumbnail scene isn't in here, which is a shame, because it's probably the most "Amos" scene in the whole show. That terrifying, blood-filled smile, and the look of regret and horror on Murtry's face when he realizes Amos isn't angry--he's happy.
Its not in this clip, which is criminal, but his final talk with Murtry at the end of S4 is his scariest for me. His scene with Miller showed barely contained rage, but the look on his face after Murtry cheap shot punched him mid sentence was pure animalistic *elation* at the coming beatdown.
I think Wes Chatham really, really enjoyed this role. Hope he's willing to reprise Amos Burton if they green light another series based on books 7 through 9.
Amos is one of the more and less complex characters on the entire show. You always know what you're going to get and where you stand with him, but how you get from point A to point B can be one hell of a journey (especially if Naomi isn't there to reel him in early on).
@@MarshalLtd I commented on how much I loved the show-and how jarring it was that within 5 minutes, Amos went from "I am that guy" to "What the FUCK is that" while pouring cereal for a bunch of little kids. Also, Steven Strait thinks he probably drinks more coffee IRL than even Holden does-I think he said he blamed 2020 on that.
Hell yeah I used his line in the intro during a barfight once, Cause I was pissed so I let my nicer pal leave and I told the Asshole " I am that guy " fight was over quick I left with a bruise no one said how he left they were surprised I fought at all, but hey the guy made fun of him and he had a rough week losing his mom to cancer so I stepped in for him and I was on season 4 of the Expanse, still rewatch that series
I freaking Love Amos! hes, Honest, straight forward no bs, doesn't take anything personal just rolls off his shoulder and funny as hell. Only reason I watched the whole series, Amos and Camila. Wouldnt mind meeting Camila!
Okay, honestly... Where is the scene where Amos thanks before punch the shit out of Murtry? It seems to disappear from the entiry internet, kinda creepy. My hope was this clip becouse the thumbnail...
You might not even be able to see the clip here: ua-cam.com/video/VTtAmDAmWKk/v-deo.html Probably why that happens is UA-cam gave me a "blocked" red eye when I just uploaded the video. I had to opt to remove the scene from this compilation too. The algorithm is likely preventing anyone from uploading the scene. It's "blocked in all territories"-"No one can view this video due to one or more of the Content ID claims below." due to having content by Copyright owners "Amazon Content Services LLC, NBC Universal". The warning states it's blocked worldwide. I don't know why it's just that clip and nothing else o.o
i understand about youtube blocking etc and that you had to remove the clip... but ffs change the vid thumbnail, should be fairly obvious right ? i just go pissed that i was click baited, which was not your intention, but it IS what happened. youtube shitty bots and copy right claims and being forced to remove clip is not your fault, not updating vid thumbnail IS your fault.
Wondering the same myself. This one has been edited to cut that out too. Weird that there seems to be something like a copyright issue for one particular point.
The thing I liked about the fight with Miller was that it showed how much weaker Belters are as a result of growing up in places that have, at most, just a little above lunar gravity. Other scenes showed Miller was at least a competent hand to hand fighter, but he can't hurt Amos _at all_ with even his best punch, and Amos can fling him around like a rag doll. The Belter shakedown gang toward the end of the video also don't have much chance either against a tough, skilled fighter like Amos, despite their numbers.
Amos (after showing Avasarala how the magnetic boots work): "Now you just walk around like you're in pumps." Avasarala: "How do YOU know what it's like to walk in pumps?" Amos (totally deadpan expression): "I didn't always work in space." The expressions on Avasarala's and Bobbi's faces: Priceless. Also... Amos: "Chrissie'll know what to do with it." Bobbi: "The Old Lady really loves it when you call her that." Amos: "At least I say it to her face." The writing on this show was fantastic.
He just keeps getting better and better. Of all the "personal" story arcs, I like Amos's best. Enjoy the remainder of your binge watch. You're in for a good time.
The fight in the showers reminds me of every fight I had in prison. Positioning yourself near terrain , using that terrain as a weapon, and in doing so limiting their available avenues of attack. So very accurate and my heart started beating hard just watching it. Well done!
They actually choreographed the entire fight scene, only to cut it up and give it to us in flashbacks which I think is a pretty unique method of doing it
So that is actually a thing? I thought it was just me. When I was a kid I used to call it "environmental fighting". 😆 I explained it to my friends but they didn't really understand what I meant.
At the moment Nov 19 2021 I am at S3 Ep12 and every additional Ep since S1 E10 has gotten more and more convoluted and harder to believe. IMHO I think the writers are getting lost in the plot and can't find their way back to a straight forward line.

I like when Amos meets Bobbie. He calls himself a talented Amateur, and her a Professional.

He actually sat down with psychologists and questioned them on how someone like Amos would behave having lived the childhood/life Amos had led.

Favorite scene in the show! Murtry knew he messed up
Prax was such a great character, and with Amos as his best friend it was just perfect.
I love that they showed how a sociopath can actually be a hero in a story.
That suplex kills me every time.
Kills Tiny, too.
Amos, Avasarala and Drummer were the best parts of the show man.
Prax and Ashford were welcome additions.
I'd say Dawes as well, if the actor didn't bail on the show for HBO Chernobucks.
and Miller pretty much the whole cast really
He’s actually at his scariest right after Naomi stops him from killing Miller.

I think Wes Chatham really, really enjoyed this role. Hope he's willing to reprise Amos Burton if they green light another series based on books 7 through 9.
With a 30 year time jump? Unlikely.
I have already watched the Expanse twice, and watching highlights like this just makes me want to watch it again.
I once saw a commenter on youtube who's screenname was "Iamthatguy" lol. Had to give him props
I didn’t always like Amos … and then I started reading the books. I would love to have a guy like him as my friend. ❤❤❤
He’s so much better in the books!!
How about now? I'm free right now.

Amos is the best part of the show
Madame Cristian Avasarala, Deputy Chairwoman of the United Nations...

What did you say to him?

Amos Burton, Camina Drummer, SG Avasorala, and Marcos Ineros. You could make a whole series on just them. Oh, wait, they kinda did.
And then there's Bobbi. In Power Armour. Hoorah! ! 👽
Don't forget Ashford, the scenes with him and Drummer were some of the best in the show, plus he had the most badass death.
Wes Chatham and Shoreh Agdashloo absolutely made this show. It might have been good without them, but it wouldn't have been great.
Absolutly my favorite character ever....

Amos is awesome.

I never quote characters unless their Legendary and hes up there with Fucking Bugs bunny
Show and Books are the pinnacle of character creation, I tell you.

Edit dislike this whole video as it's thumbnail bait the one scene most people wanted u had as a thumbnail douchbag
What an amazingly good series this was. Script writing was superb and whoever did the casting was a genius.
Only Amos would aim through an optic at like 6 inches....mainly to let the doc know just how screwed he really was.
Amos is Space Dexter
he is the best man
Not at all. He doesn’t need to murder.
Best analogy I can think of, loved Dexter, but Amos is way more interesting - and also, way more badass.

3:22 jeez look at his eyes
Yea could definitely hear some waves.
I gotta say. It was a little scary seeing someone pick Amos up by the neck---and taking his punches like they were nothing.
I love the scenes, but hate how you have a screenshot from Amos's best scene yet don't include it. WTF, man!
Don't Amos tease!

That's the best one, I saw that yesterday, Amos Rules.
