Hey get well soon. For tonsils you can have ginger tea☘️ it does give some relief.
    Great video as always. 🌼

I love what you said about how you never know how much you can miss your home until you leave it! I am from California and lived in the UK for a year. I never thought I'd get homesickness (no language barrier, similar culture) but that intense homesickness happened anyway! Thank you for sharing your experiences! Love watching your channel 💖

Thank you! It's so strange isn't it? I never thought I'd get home sick because I love it here so, so much, but it's such an innate thing. Even in a similar culture which isn't your home. And thank you! 💛

Hi Christy! Ive been watching your videos for awhile but I think this is the first time I'm leaving a comment XD
Ive been living in Taiwan for almost three years now and hearing someone else rationalize and put their thoughts together on homesickness and culture shock is really great. Its something that is very har to put into words so I appreciate the way (you always do) you put them into something simple and elegant.
Back in my hometown in Canada,I think i used to hate a lot of the things about being from a small town ... and now I find those are the things I miss and crave the most. There are also times like you mentioned that the things or places I love the most in Taiwan have really angered me in some way, haha.
Hope you get better soon and regardless of how sad and difficult it may be to leave Japan, place your memories in your heart. :) Thank you for your lovely videos!

My parents and I moved to Europe from Australia 10 months ago and as time went by I thought I’d adapt here but I’m feeling worse and I’m so homesick that now I’m suffering from severe depression. I could go back to Australia now but my parents have an apartment here on sale that they bought last year (it’s a new apartment by the way) and we’re waiting for it to sell so we can go back to Australia. It’s so frustrating as it’s been up for sale for 5 months now and my dad has lowered the price significantly. I could go back but I want to go back with my parents as my mum is very homesick too and I’ll feel bad if I left her like this. Every day is a struggle for me. There’s no place like home.

I'm sorry you have been sick again. Perhaps it's the humidity. Different germs to those that your body is accustomed too.
Homesickness is something I suspect we all think we wouldn't get until we try it. I wonder if you would have suffered less of it if you could have lived in a bigger place, with space and walls that aren't paper thin. I think trying to whisper all the time and not being able to put music on and not being able to sing or talk normally at home would indeed drive me nuts, which would bring on the homesickness.
I've never lived abroad. But the UK is tearing itself apart now over Brexit. It's very alarming, thoroughly unpleasant, and I've been wondering if we could just sell up and move. Difficult with 2 not very well parents in their 80's. But my husband and I have talked about it. We could swap this dismal, cloudy, grey place full of zealots for somewhere warm and bright. But I suspect I would miss the green. England does green very well and has some very pretty countryside, part of which I'm privileged to be living in. I live I a village of around 70 people and my house existed at the time Queen Elizabeth the first was on the throne and visited the local Manor House. I'm not sure I would cope.
You are doing very well. You should be proud of yourself for what you are doing. Working, living and studying in a culture as different as Japan is a major achievement.
PS. Don't forget to save up and fill your bags with wonderful Japanese art supplies when you pack up to go home :-)

Had the tonsillitis thing too. No fun. Long time ago now. Don't think the Dr. I went to see spoke English. Different culture: French Quebec in Canada. I'm English so all in all it was different. Hope you keep your tonsils. Still got mine.

Im sorry you've been getting sick so often, have you gone to see a doctor? Maybe you need to get you tonsils removed? There's a point where there's no reason to keep them since they hurt more than they take care of you. That saved me, so I think it'd be a good idea to get them check :) hopefully it's not your case, though :o.. And it's so sad you're leaving Japan, I thought for sure you were going to stay a lot longer, I hope you enjoy lots and lots the time you have left. Greeting from Venezuela :> ~
