Hi guys.This is the result of the 5 videos i ve uploaded some time ago under the name of ´´ Modeling a supercar in sketchup ´´ .

I recorded the end of the tutorial but unfortunately it gave me an avi header error and i can t make it work.So here is the finished supercar. Enjoy!

I've been using sketchup for years, just to model simple designs. I'd always assumed that the creation of curved objects was limited to rudimentary use of the follow me tool.
I had no idea that all these powerful plugins were available.
Thanks for sharing, you've really opened my eyes to new possibilities.

with the gsup pro and the access to the net you can barely do anything you imagine.This is the proof of it.Nice work !

For the last month I have been trying to copy you and your techniques in creating a car. I've almost finished and it looks pretty nice. I'm only in middle school but, I still enjoy computer design. I'll send some pictures to you if I can of my attempt at a car like yours. It won't be perfect but, I'm hoping it will still be cool:)
I've got a couple of jobs for automotive stuff but not something very serious and not after this tutorial . Anyway I am a Sketchup freelancer and I am modeling almost everything that is possible inside it !
I love that car!!! It's awesome =) That car would be in a game, like The Sims 3 or something. I rate 9 of 10

Awesome Job man, tell me when it hits the showrooms! lol, I think the tail lights look like BMW Z4 inspired, but you could had made this design so much better if you dedicated a couple of more minutes on the lights allaround, and more detailed, but everything else, but the lights, is Perfect! keep up the Great Job!
@jabilorenzo It's a program called Proshow Gold by Photodex .But of course there are many other programs that could create slideshows ..

@SimpleTwig Sketchup can handle organic modeling(depends on the level of accuracy you want) but can't handle too many polygons(that depends of your computer too).
Overall i'm happy with it !
Regarding the last screen record,nope there is no chance to make it work although i managed to save just few minutes from the end of it,but they are useless because there is nothing important,just coloring and stuff.

Indeed it's a high price but it is all worthy ! There are some programs which have a free version as well, but you can imagine that they will never come as close as these paid ones. Recently I got a free version of Maxwell and it seems to be ok(but there is lot to work with before you achieve a good result), there is Podium ,Indigo ,Twilight,Lumion and so on , some are cheaper some are not. It's all about what do you need it for ! You need for business put your money down and buy it !
@Mrcafe313 U can make it right without SDS but now i ve made it a principal tool for my designs .. i think trough it ! U get better renders with less polys as far as u make the edges rounder!

@123hardcoretyp There should be some specific forums for Vray for Sketchup , search for them and learn how to use hdri's and backplates . Take care !
@TheKamikazeKrab Being a car designer doesn't mean u need to know certain software like sketchup ,, u can draw by hand or make digital renderings or make clay models or anything else.. Specially if u can go to a design school then your chances are a lot better than mine. Cheers!

@avikalparikh09 Actually I modeled it in about 10 hours ,,it is just that I started it and I didn't finished,then after some time i walked over the model and decided to finish it.

@JakeGilliganTV It is a rendering program,mine is Hypershot ,but there are a lot others that can do the same.Here I used some HDRI images and also some image for backgrounds ,I only had to match the position of the car with the background. Cheers!
@123hardcoretyp It's all about what rendering program you are using ! I use Hypershot and there is easy to add background and hdri environments !
great tutorial and final project. i've been looking at sketchup to see if it was capable of complex forms and this vid proves it is. thanks. so you can't view your last avi at all? no way to convert it to frames and then remerge it in moviemaker or something?
Great looking concept. just one thing 'I' would change are the headlights are a little to thin. i like the concept of them but maybe thicken them up a tad. :) other then that amazing job

@freestyle931188 i have sued vray like 4 5 years ago,,i didn t learn too much of it ,,depends what you want from your surface and how smooth u want it. you should try to see the vray forum ..

I looked at the dates that these videos were uploaded and saw that they were uploaded over a year apart! That makes me wonder how many hours of work this took you and how long it took you overall (how many days/months/years did you make this over?)

Is the SDS tool needed for such a smooth rendering if I dont want to fine tune my sketchup model?
I'm trying Kerkythea as my first rendering program and I can see most of the polys on my car.

Te sfatuiesc sa-ti faci cont pe Sketchucation forum si acolo o sa ai ce invata berechet . Tine cont ca lucrez in sketchup de peste 6 ani..e de asteptat ca nivelul de cunoastere al programului sa fie crescut. Cel mai important este workflow-ul altfel degeaba stii daca lucrezi incet. Multa bafta!

@ely862meg Well if i were a game designer i would purchase this, unfortuantly the most i can do is make a model compatible with San Andreas or Midtown madness. Do you think you could post all the sketchucation addons you used. i still cant master the art of cars on sketchup.

It is such a pity that there are thieves out there who have no regard for other people`s work specially if it is a talent that they don`t have. It seems to me that EVERYWHERE there are people who`s only talent is to sit in wait to steal the talented work of others. As a person who can really appreciate ART (Talent of Creation) in all fields where people work I hate thieves as they also make ME poorer to not see such art as that produced here.

@iAeroStar4Hire Hi, thanks for you thoughts ,but this car does't have the audi language so they won't be interested in it(and they have tons of hired designers). Second this is not a 1million car ,the design is not that good as you think,I can tell myself(mostly because it was made just to show how I build cars in sketchup). Cheers!

which program you used for the final rendering? 3DS, VRay . . . ?
Fucking cool. I like it. Shame you don't have the last part of your tutorial though. I've just started learning 3Ds Max, but will be getting SketchUp Pro next week. Looks very intuitive to use!
