Also remember cultivating corn with a John Deere B at 15 years old hour after hour till I was the color of bronze in the hot sun 1965. I can still smell the dust.
Ya make me cry. I spent summers on uncle's dairy farm as a teen. He used a different green tractor but my blood is John deere green. Thanks for the memories and the ride along.
Grandpa used wd allis to pick corn with a one row wood brothers picker. I remember as a young kid riding in the wagon when he was picking. When planting I tied a wagon behind the planter and rode behind all day lol.
We had a 620 also. Never forget cultivating with it on those hot summer days no cab no umbrella no radio just you with your own thoughts 8 row front mounted culivator that was heavy for the fron end. Lot of sun burns and sweat
Catching up on your videos. I LOVE that tractor!! It sounds awesome!! I can remember my older cousin would pass by the dairy barn on one when I was younger. Good memories. Great video!
Matt Repp grandpa bought this one new in '57. I don't know how many hours it has on it but they used it for everything. Used to put a mounted picker on it, plow, cultivate, mow, plant.... You name it.
Ag Wild work on a farm and I was about 13 friend of mine had a 6: 20 they sold their cows and all their equipment the one thing he wouldn't sell is at 6: 20 I've been after 4: 30 years great tractor
As he expanded over the years He eventually bought a 620 with single front end, "A" with single front end. 720 Wide and 730 D Wide and 40 for small cultivator
Paul Rush my grandpa bought this 620 new in 1957. I have the original bill of sale, the cancelled check, the delivery checklist and the original brochure. He traded in a 60 and got a B and this 620.
We had a 60 John Deere when I was little that tractor wouldn't going no where without me I would run out the door with half clothes in my hands carrying my shoes son as I heard that starter wind-up and that pop pop pop

I used the 4020 and front mount 4 row cultivator. Corn was fun after it got a little bigger and you could go faster.

You bet. Thanks for watching
Such a beautiful sound. Could listen to that John Deere all day.
Thanks for watching. Used to hear it all the time around here. Several neighbors had two cylinders. Now I think this is the last in the neighborhood.

That sounds like it would be fun. There wasn't much for Allis around here. Mostly the two shades of green and some red.
I miss those days, picking corn on haloween, the smells were awesome, love the old Johhnie popper too!!
yeah in a cab you don't get to smell that stuff! Gas, exhaust, corn, fresh dirt. Just the AC.
I can watch videos like this all day.

Wow an 8 row. That'd be something. We had a 4 row. Used to put a 227 picker on this one too but that was before my time.
@@AgWildNebraska yes it was something. Dad converted it from 6 row wide to 8 - 28" inch lol it worked back in day when invented everything on your own
really like to see the older equipment still in use. good job!
This is the way I farm, too.
Sounds like a John Deere 622 cylinder I love it
You'd be right. Grandpa's 620

What a great video. The John Deere 620 was the most versatile tractor around.

Dad had a 60 JD when I was 10 yrs old. Still hear that every time I see a vid like this
That was back in 1962
Paul Rush we have a 60 too. But it doesn't get used much... It's probably been 5 years since it's run.

Wicked cool
A #1!!! I enjoyed watching this video!!!
did the sound of that tractor take you like in a time warp back to our childhood years?
My first experience picking corn for myself was a 52 John Deere B and a Wood Brothers picker 1970.
First tractor I drove was that 620
One of my uncles had a John Deere A that was way cool until he showed up with a John Deere B, that thing was a beast.
I love seeing that. Wish people still did it that way instead of all this huge equipment.
Me too.
I can still hear that sound when I close my eyes&think back 30 years when we had a 630
Randy Robinson yep we had a 630 too. This 620 was bought new by my grandpa.
I never got into Deere...especially the 2-cylinders. But still awesome! I love old school farming.
Give anything to be on that tractor!
what is the average size of your fields? great video.:)
Umm I'd say 30-40 acres. Lots of creeks to cut things up.
Rather be with my dad picking corn than be at school.
Absolutely
We had a 60 John Deere when I was little that tractor wouldn't going no where without me I would run out the door with half clothes in my hands carrying my shoes son as I heard that starter wind-up and that pop pop pop
Yep I used to stand between dad's feet and drive
Long Rows and Some Dandy Looking Corn
If you look when I'm down close the the end the combine is parked on you'll see a bunch of blank spots. That's where the gophers dug my seed up.
Ag Wild I saw that when you were going through the field
I have trouble with gophers and pheasants digging up the seed. usually I scatter shell corn out so they leave mine alone.
What was the tractor
620
Oh cool
Grandpa bought it new in March of '57
Its still going though
Is that a 620 made in 56 or 57 my dad had a 620 good sounding old tractor
It's a 57. My grandpa bought it in March of 57
Go Johnny poper go !
Nice
