  • Gallstones Signs & Symptoms, Why They Occur | Cholecystitis, Choledocholithiasis, Cholangitis
    Having gallstones within the gallbladder is known as the condition of cholelithiasis. When stones are large and move into different parts of the biliary tree (after leaving the gallbladder), they can cause several different medical conditions (ex. acute cholecystitis, choledocholithiasis, cholangitis), each of which has different signs and symptoms. In this lesson, we discuss the anatomy and purpose of the gallbladder, along with the signs and symptoms of each of these medical conditions.

    Normal day, no symptoms. Then BAMMM right upper pain, ( pain level 9) for hours. Got admitted they wanted to give me norco n send me home. Paint level 9. They admitted me and removed my gall bladder. It was scarred in and full of stones. I’m laying here in recovery. Thankful.
    Very informative video.
    They said it was years and years of how I have eaten and now I have lived a vegan lifestyle for the last year. A stone got stuck in my duct and the gall was very inflamed. It was 3 hours for my surgery. They said it was one of their worst 😜.
    Thankful to god and for the knowledge and experience the surgeons had🙌

      Prior I was/ am a vegan ( junk food ) burgers, impossible meat, potatoes, fruits, veggies , breads . I think I ate good relatively healthy. So I have no idea why this happened. At my heaviest I was 220 at 5’11. lol.. why I have read is fast weight loss contributes to this. Although not a lot of it is discussed online/Google or Dr’s evaluation. After my gallbladder surgery at age 30, I was presented with a bag of 32 stones the surgeon removed. They were a dark reddish brown color and very smooth. I had suffered from nausea and back pain. My pain was not in the upper right quadrant of my back; it was close to my waistline. This was about 50 years ago, so I wasn't a benificiary of the less invasive surgery. I got the lovely scar to prove what I went through. I was told that my gallstones were caused by birth control pills. P.S. I forgot to include the fact that my doctor didn't know what was causing my pain when I went to see him while in great pain. All he said was for me to "take my ulcer and go to the hospital." I didn't have an ulcer, and it's good that the hospital doctor decided to do surgery.

There's so many conflicting opinions on gallbladders(some try to keep them no matter what) I personally find it very calming seeing people at an advanced age saying they got theirs done decades ago and have been ok. Please teach doctors to ALWAYS do an ultrasound for abdominal pain!!!!
      During the two years just prior to a stone nearly killing me, I had abdominal pains, mostly generalized, requiring 3 ER trips, with one of those trips after some hot and heavy romantic time. X-RAYS SHOWED NOTHING!!! My stones were not calcified. Had the ever done an ultrasound, I would not be diabetic, pancreas enzyme deficient, allergic to 99% or more of foods available, and so much more!!!
      One stone, it felt like a tiny pinch that would not go away. Twenty-four hours later I was being prepped for emergency surgery, an thus began my 21+ years of hell on earth.

    • @ateachableheart2649
      @ateachableheart2649 3 роки тому +15

      I have to share this. Be VERYCAREFUL about taking ANY enzymes. THIS is what got me in trouble with my GB. I have been able to repeat the outcome. I've been taking enzymes for years, digestive enzymes and pancreatic enzymes thinking I needed help. I now believe THIS was the MAJOR cause of my GB problems. When I discovered the connection I stopped taking them and my symptoms diminished and I improved. However the damage is done. To be sure this was part of my problem, I started taking them again and BAM symptoms came back. I have since stopped completely but my GB has past the point of no return. I'm now facing surgery to have it removed.
      Should we really be taking any supplement that ends up being a replacement for what our body naturally makes during the process of eating?? After all of this, I don't think so.
      If you take digestive enzymes, your body gets confused because another part of the body is responsible for sending the signals to produce them. If that's shut off because the recipient part of the body get's the enzymes, then the part responsible for sending the signal and creating them SHUTS DOWN.
      Apparently the Entero Endocrine cells that line the Small Bowel are responsible for sending signals to the GB to release bile for digestion. If they sense any digestive enzymes they shut down their message center and so the GB does not get told to release bile. It essentially STOPS working because it's not being told to do so.
      On most bottles of enzyme supps it directs the person to take at the BEGINNING or BEFORE meals. THIS IS KILLER to the EE cells and the GB.
      Lack of Entero Endocrine cells leads to diarrhea, SIBO, allergic reactions to foods, bloating and a host of other things.
      I'm a military vet with GWS and one of the bigger symptoms is digestive disorders. THIS is why I began taking the enzymes. I just didn't know damage had already been done to the EE cells in my SB.
      So for anyone out there, please proceed with extreme caution when taking anything that the body should naturally produce by itself and always get medical care from your doctor regarding any health concerns you might have.

One night it hit while I was driving I was trying to get to ER and almost wrecked. They didn’t know what it was for a very long time. Until one day I had and upper endoscopy and an ultrasound. I have had gallbladder disease for just about 10 years now, I have been very anxious to get the surgery so I try to not eat any of the foods that trigger on an attack (anything oily,greasy or fatty/high in fats), I have done A LOT of research and I needed to know how to get the pain attack to stop as quickly as I could so I wouldn't have to go through the pain for so long and the gallstone attack pain I feel is worse then giving birth believe it or not. Someone's review I had read many years ago is what helped me immensely (1 cup/ 250ml of pure apple juice (not by concentrate) I usually get the Sunrype brand and Apple cider vinegar Raw unfiltered organic by BRAGG about 2 table spoons worth and mix them together in the glass and drink it down quickly then I take 2 extra strength advil and 1 extra strength tylonal. By doing this my pain usually goes away within 5-10mins just recently my pain attacks have been getting worse the last 2 times and I have had to add in my husband filling up a pot with Hot water from the tap and some wash cloths to use on the effected area to help as a hot compress to help bring down the pain while im laying down and this has helped a lot and then if the area is still feeling achy I will use a heating pad. Hope this info might be able to help someone 🙏🏻

    • @TheNormExperience
      @TheNormExperience 3 роки тому +4

      @@foxysil52 it was actually the easiest surgery and recoveries I’ve ever had. I did have a little pancreatitis from the stone forcing bile back and irritating the pancreas, but I was home the next day, and of all my surgeries it was probably the most straightforward; they did the surgery and the problem just stopped from one day to the next.
      You have to keep in mind I was a teenager, previously healthy who lost a certain amount of weight to quickly and started throwing a gallstone every week to 2 weeks, that went undiagnosed for over 6 months, so I was miserable! I was in and out of my local ER for half the year until FINALLY the stones showed up on the 4th ultrasound I’d had. They did try an endoscopy to remove the stone first but it had already passed and my gallbladder showed more stones just waiting to release so the only way to fix the issue completely was removing the gallbladder entirely through a laparoscopic surgery.
      I was home after they got the mild pancreatitis and low grade fever gone within maybe 12 hours, slept and stayed in bed a couple days, back at school by the next week (probably would have been sooner without the due diligence to be 100% sure the pancreatitis was handled). And all I had was 4 tiny scars to show for it! 2 of which I can’t even find anymore honesty, because I was so young my skin healed damn near perfectly.
      The only difference I noticed in the year after was a couple things I could eat before I no longer could without them going straight through my system, literally like eggs I can no longer eat. Dunno why that does it to me, but my aunt had something similar with pizza. I had another friend who could never again eat ice cream when she got hers out. Just specific foods person to person seemed to cause a reaction you could weight if you wanted to deal with or not, but it was in no way unlivable. I literally went from being sick for half a year out of nowhere, to being a normal healthy teenager again. In this one instance the surgery worked EXACTLY as it was supposed to and completely fixed the problem.
      Even as I had a plethora of other health issues in the years since, like an exploratory laparoscopic abdominal surgery; they checked the area where my gallbladder had been to find not even scar tissue left over. So in my instance the removal surgery was a life saver.
      Many times in my life since where doctors have asked me for a pain scale and then asked my worst pain ever, it’s still to this day, passing a gallstone all those years ago. I would just be doubled over, trying not to vomit from the pain, praying for the moment it would stop as soon as it had started. It was terrifying not knowing what was wrong, not just for me but my parents, and not being able to do anything, and frustrating for my doctors and the ER not finding an answer. So the day the ER doctor, who ended up being the surgeon who removed it also, came in and said, “Good news, we know what it is! It’s gallstones!” We all cheered in the ER lol. And it was the easiest surgery I’ve had to this day. I have never once regretted it.
      I’m sure not everyone feels that way, because everything is different, but in my instance, it gave me my life back as a normal teenager (at least for another 2 years until everything REALLY went to hell with my health lol.)

Years!!! I just had no idea the symptoms were leading up to this. I've tried hanging on to it, trying to remove possible contributors to my problem and doin other things to help possibly get my GB working again. I had no stones visible in CT or Hidascan, . Any sludge that I might have had I know I got it out last year, I remember what came out.
    I have no pain , just some times uncomfortable pressure in places, but I have frequent bouts of nausea and the jaundice has gotten worse. This Friday I go in for pre Op consult and I imagine next week will be the surgery. Not happy to lose my GB, not happy at all.

      When stones start getting stuck, it's either ride it out in debilitating pain in the ER, then change lifestyle- eat non-fat, vegetables, etc for the rest of your life (which isn't a bad idea). However, if you want to enjoy pizza or an occasional fatty meal, beware. I wasn't going to do the flush out of fear another stone would lodge. Jaundice, severe pain, fever, chills, vomiting, on the floor in the fetal position. I was sad to lose my gallbladder. I'm grateful I haven't had an attack since it was removed.

    I never had any symptoms! My doctors just told me it was full of stones. No pain.. nothing. I wish I had tried to dissolve them first! They only gave me a very low dose of pain relievers after, but for 5 days, I could hardly get out of bed because it felt like I had shards of glass in my entire stomach. Anyone have any thoughts?
    Only after I had my gallbladder removed, I was at a dinner party and had a piece of fat in my mouth. I swallowed it so I wouldn’t be rude, but the next day, wow! Pain in my right back shoulder like crazy. My chiropractor told me it was typical if referred pain from the gallbladder.

    Hey guys i can’t find anything online related to my problem but seen a few comments on this video and thought some people may have had similar experiences to me & might be able to shed some light. Im 30 & have had digestion problems for the past 8 years. Iv noticed in the past 2-3 years iv had upper right to mid abdomen pain. Not sure if its gallbladder related. Mostly comes on stronger after a high carb / protein meal, tight cramp sort of feeling almost like a mini stitch, most times to relieve this i have to press down in that area and hold the tension to rid any tight feeling. Also iv noticed when im seated and i breathe in and out theres sometimes a pop sound (Just 1 pop) on the inhale not sure if this is related but almost seems like trapped air / gas etc. Iv had a few checkups with no luck so far, i think my next step is an ultra sound. Anyone have similar issues to this ?
