Josh Rosen is Jay Cutler without ANY of the arm talent...there is a reason he fell to the Cards, why no team moved up for him, why he didn't start day 1 as a rookie, why the Cards were fine moving on from him right away, why he couldn't win the job in Miami, why he lost the job to Fitz AGAIN, why Fitz has better stats with the same horrible team, why the Dolphins, who will trade ANYONE for draft capital didn't receive a single phone call about Rosen before the deadline...he's doesn't have the arm talent if Cutler but he sure as hell has the same leadership, likability from teammates, and entitlement of Cutler
He actually played decently in that game. He's showing tat once he gains experience he can become a better QB the quicker decision making will come faster.
I remember watching thos game cheering on Dallas and she how much Heart Rosen was giving to try and get the Dolphins any hope. He was screwed with both teams he got.
This kid stands no chance. When he flops it honestly won't be fair to call him a bust, young QB's need to be taught and brought up right. He's had not one but two awful teams around him and this Miami team is probably going to be the worst team ever assembled.
5:38 Just want to point out that your first example of the O-line fucking up is actually an example of Rosen running out of his pocket for no reason and getting hit as a result. Nothing the O-line can do to save him there. That's 100% on Rosen.
6:11 But this was on Rosen. Yes, there are 7 defenders not rushing, but 4 of them are out of position and you have a nice "Mike Martz" setup, which Rosen missed cause he is not reading the defense. Kurt Warner was feasting on that trips formation vs. this defense.
I saw him in person agaisnt GB last year. I kept telling the people around me this kid can really throw the ball. I got laughed at and told he was terrible. His performance got overshadowed by the whole Mike McCarthy firing saga, but go back and look at the tape. He had a really good game and has an above average arm for an NFL QB.
Thank you for making this video. I know actual Dolphins fans already know alot of this but when your team is tanking its kinda hard for the league to pay any attention to you. Plus, with the Dolphins, even if we were winning the NFL media still wouldn't even bat an eye thanks to past endeavors but I hope this opens some eyes for NFL fans of other teams that dont really get any information outside of what the NFL feeds to them.

Could you make a video about Denver's 0-3 team and examime Vangios scheme and looking at why the defense can not get a turnover! Thank you so much!
If Josh Rosen eats up all this "poor Josh Rosen" crap and doesnt make the most of this opportunity he'll again find himself fighting off the number one pick next year. And he'll officially enter journeyman status. He almost got his receiver killed because of his poor read and late throw. He needs to get his recievers in the right play calls based on his reads. You accuse the coaching staff of doing a poor job coaching yet you only cite ONE example, a play that Rosen should've read the coverage and adjusted the call at the line of scrimmage. It is the NE system that is predicated on the QB making proper reads and calls at the line. Rosen admittedly had to learn the basics of reading a defense this year--i.e. identifying the Mike LB. Rosen has a ways to go and a lot to prove.
You really do your research and everything you say is well thought out. This is way better than watching ESPN. I love the game like you do and appreciate you taking your time to break down players game film
You feel bad for Rosen? I'll never feel bad forthis dude. So coaches were bad? Then why did they start winning again with Fitz? And beat the Pats in NE?
My prediction 1. Miami draft Tua 2. They sign a lot of 'good' free agents whilst avoiding the blue chippers. 3. Rosen is the starter for half a season and plays well. 4. Rosen gets traded to a team who may be competitive but QB needy after a retirement. Steelers, Chargers, Saints?
Maybe it’s because I didn’t get to see the whole play, but how do you let your QB get hit like that at 7:38 and no teammate got mad? Defend him? He got straight up punked by defense #58. He was already on his way out of bounds. Defense looked like they wanted to send a message.
A year later I got a feeling the SOS host doesn't feel this way any longer. Rosen is a terrible leader and teammate. Nobody vouches for this guy. Coaches or players
Hey man Im making a request. I am a huge Sooner fan, I was wondering if you could talk about Lincoln Rileys offense and his play calling? If you have time I would appreciate it. Thank you.
Thanks for reviewing Dolphins games means alot to us dolphins fans during this season especially. Hope you will be able to do this full time. Best of luck to you. :)
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on what has been happening in Denver this year. Why the Offense and Defense are ot generating especially the defense. Great content by the way
-one of the more frustrating things has been the underappreciation of Josh R. Admittedly, I wasn't thrilled about Miami trading a second round pick for him at that time, but when I saw him play during the preseason and now in regular season... I'm more than impressed. And the aggravating irony: the Dolphins have been looking for a QB for a couple of decades lol, and the year they chose to evidently "tank," is the year they found a QB with promise to legitimately build around... Add to that, giving up Minkah and LT (players that don't come around that often) who understandably wanted "out" on the guise of following through with "the Dolphins mgmt plan" actually undermined its purpose: the idea was to be a superbowl competitive team, and no more half * mediocre results... But to "go all out" doesn't mean put blinders on --especially where you practically stumbled onto something that would help you realize that goal sooner... The Dolphins went 'principled' inflexible approach and it bit them square in their midwest cultured ass. "Frustrating" doesn't begin...
Huge Dolphin fan here since 1984. This season is so rough to watch. Hope we win at least one game (maybe the Redskins game)and way better days are coming soon. Good video ty.
At the 10ish minute mark where you are talking about a "lazy play by the WR" it is actually Rosen who screws up there by throwing the curl instead of the out route. Grant (the guy with no one on him) is running a zig route which is he wide open because the safety is sitting on the curl that Rosen threw. Parker is running a higher slant to draw the cornerback and saftey to him leaving Grant wide open. Rosen had the right player he just didn't recognize the right route.
It looks like the first player to the left of Miami's kicker jumped before the ball was kicked, which makes the offsides foul correct. "Before the kicker approaches the ball and until the ball is kicked, all kicking team players other than the kicker must be lined up and remain in their established positions no more than one yard behind their restraining line" The "remain in their established positions" is the part that was not followed here.
I know it's rare, but the kicker is the person who was offsides during the kick. When you paused it, you see his foot offsides before the ball is kicked
Zack, you are one hundred percent correct. If I'm Brian Flores, there will be two things I would focus on to prepare Rosen as the Franchise QB. You point it out perfectly, leadership and decision making. The Dolphins' draft picks and cap space, they can put a good tram around him.
Are you guys even serious? Look at the interceptions he throws. He doesn’t get unlucky and it’s a bad tip. When he throws picks, it’s straight to the defender he has a terrible time looking defenses off. If his first option isn’t open, he’s trash. Otherwise you’re right, the phins other coaches and players aren’t doing anything to help him either.
That second example of a mistake he made looked more like the WR just dropping the ball, he threw it just about as fast as he could have and while the receiver was still open but the WR just didn't catch it.
Hey Zac, would love to hear your opinion on Marcus Mariota. As a Titans fan, it’s getting ridiculous how inconsistent he is, but I do wonder how much of it is the O-line being terrible. Personally I just don’t think he has what it takes to be a consistently good Qb in the NFL
Yeah, while I do think the Giants to take Jones that high. I did think he could turn out being the best QB in the draft, 10 years from now. Of course, I wasn't enamored with that crop of QBs as a whole, so that may just mean he is a backup and everyone else is out of the league by then.
Two points you missed though, brother: On the first play when talking about the O-line, LT Davis was injured by the FB that play and that injury generated the pressure. Davis was done for the day after that and rookie LG Dieter took over at LT. Then a short time later RG Isidora was done for the season. The Ol was makeshift from the 2nd Qtr on.
SOS doesn’t recognize injuries I like him film breakdown but offensive line is important. Last year every offensive linemen was injured even back ups. The center was the only one starting
@@speakingfacts3931 Misleading then. You can't call a coach a poor coach for keeping in extra blocker when 2 starting OLmen on a poor line go down. If he didn't Rosen would have been killed and that would have been terrible coaching. I agree on the 3rd and 3 that was an accurate statement. This is the problem when you cover a ton of stuff... there's always going to be a lack of nuance... and nuance is key to accurate info. This isn't about last year or last week, it's about evaluating that game in question. Miami ran and passed pretty well until the injuries on the OL in this game... it went down after that and especially after the half. There is a reason for that. Simply adding that would make for more accurate reporting, less flashy, but more accurate.
Michael Curtis exactly you’re right. I was shocked for him to say that chad oshea was bad. First off, I thought O’Shea did great through 2 quarters when the oline was good and that’s what I like to see. Second off, the cardinals playcalling was MUCH WORSE last year with McCoy and leftwich. But he’s not wrong, there are PLENTY of better situations for Rosen. And until he wins games with a team that is so bad they’re “tanking”, people will call him a bust because his stats don’t match all the other qbs, but then again I’ve read Rosen likes to be the underdog anyway
@@speakingfacts3931 I agreed that O'Shea made mistakes. But this is his 1st year as OC... that is natural. If by the mid year 2 he hasn't grown... okay.
Good analysis of Josh Rosen and the game and game plan. I have to admit I was not a Rosen fan simply because of the loses. But going back and watching him in college and some of the Dolphins highlights I like what I see compared to Herbert and Love who many people want us to draft in the first round and even with the #5 pick. He has a strong arm and he gets rid of the ball very quickly. He is accurate as his passes are usually on target or in the vicinity of the receiver. I think we should bypass a quarterback in the first round..fill other needs with our first 3 picks and give Rosen another chance to beat out Fitz. If he doesn't beat out Fitz and show great improvement then we look for a quarterback in next years draft or even draft one in the 2nd or 3rd round this year.
Bills Fan...On draft night in 2018 I knew that Buffalo was going to draft one of the joshes at number 7, after trading up. I was more interested in Allen but I knew it could go either way. I kind of feel bad for Rosen. I hope the Dolphins build a decent team around him next year.... if he stays in Miami. This division needs to be more competitive.
I agree as a phins fan and watching the whole game play by play rosen played rly well. He made some rly nice throws but his stats and performance was overshadowed. 5 drops a missed FG and a goalline fumble yet ppl blame him for the 6 pts scored. Also on the onside kick the rule is ur foot cant be past the 34 yd line b4 the kick. Even if u move ur foot not even a yd its offsides
"He's not a bad quarterback. It's just that everyone around him sucks." That lone statement nullified your whole argument. 1. Everyone around him does NOT suck. Preston Williams is a beast, Drake is good. 2. Rosen IS a bad qb. 3. The question is, is he playing badly because he is in a bad situation or is he a bad qb in any situation. That has yet to be determined.
Sorry, everyone around him besides 2 skill position players suck, so the statement still stands. There's no QB you could put on this team that would do a lot better than Rosen is atm
@@MultiKool13 : Many of the "mobile" qbs would do a lot better because they have better accuracy and can avoid a rush. Wilson, Rodgers, Lamar, Watson, Allen, Murray, Baker would all do better than Rosen. And don't tell me I'm reaching because Watson has an OL that is as bad or worse than Rosen's (see his broken ribs) and one reliable (albeit super duper) receiver. Wilson has had horrible OLs for practically the entirety of his NFL career. Rosen was pretty much the test case for if the NFL would continue drafting classic stay in the pocket qbs. The answer has been a resounding no. I want to remind everybody that Rosen was a top ten draft pick. By definition his job is to go to a crappy team and make it better. Has he been dealt a raw hand? Yes. But that's why he got 20 something million. It's his job to play raw hands!!! Rosen must adapt his game or get picked up by NE. Those are his only two choices if he wants to have a career in the NFL.
I've been saying it all along that the Dolphons aren't tanking for Tua. They are gonna potentially trade down and get even more picks, build their O-line, get receivers, and then give Rosen another season as the starter. If he doesn't do well, then they will draft a QB in 2021.
Hey Zac, Do you think the Miami Dolphins should take Tua in the next draft or keep Josh Rosen and wait for his development? Who has a higher ceiling as a NFL Franchise QB? Love your QB film analysis!
I am a Cardinals Fan, and I feel bad with how we treated Josh Rosen. I really hope he does well in Miami - but I think he might have the same problem in Miami as he had in AZ - a crappy team around him.
On the first play his first read is fine he is told to look at the guy in the flat he is taken, he moves to the open seam which was the plan based on the defense allignment, but having the draw on the other side of the feild so to fake the draw he has to look the other side means he cannot read until he finishes the fake, imo that is a bad play call and rosen is trying to fit it into a window that closed a second before. If you look the coverage could be cover 1 man with the outside corner in bail and the inside corner getting inside leverage to force the WR to stem the route to the deep safety, or like it is it is cover 3 where the inside corner covers the sideline ball and the outside in bail goes to the deep zone, he cant look at them because of the fake and the near side corner is still in man until the WR goes over the middle to where the line backers are then bails to help if there are 2 deep post routes splitting the high safety, therefore he cant read the defence off the near side corner so it is wasting his time with the fake is a bad idea, this means that to read the play the fake draw needs to be the other side so rosen can get it in ontime. This would have been the case even if they were in man coverage. Shit call unlucky that Allen Hurns got injured over that.
This is why Trent Dilfer once stated more QB’s are destroyed than are made in the NFL. Once this happens, young QB’s will lose confidence, start making bad plays, and find themselves out of the NFL despite having equal talent to other successful QB prospects. Coaching counts, just ask Marcus Mariota.
As a Dolphins fan I actually loved this video. Josh Rosen definitely looked great in the game with all things considered. Rosen's improvement of taking what the defense gives him is due to the coaching I believe. In training camp, Rosen said he was improving in IDing the Mike LB and the defensive fronts. Most laughed at that believing it made Rosen looked worse. On the contrary I believe it is a statement on past coaching staffs and the turn in Rosen's development on the mental side. This game overall showed it and you nailed it. I think this coaching staff cam be good since Miami hasn't properly developed anyone in ages. The playcalling, along with Rosen, can improve over time. But I did like some of the choices compared to Gase's bubble screen on 3rd and long offense. If Rosen can continue upwards throughout the season and elevate a less talented team, then maybe Rosen can convince the FO to use the draft picks and capital on him vs Tua. It will be interesting moving forward
"In training camp, Rosen said he was improving in IDing the Mike LB and the defensive fronts." We have to remember, these good college QB's are not playing against defenses who field 11 consensus All America players. Most don't even make a pro practice squad. College teams, because of scholastics, are limited to developing defensive schemes do to time and talent. Reaching the NFL level, this is their full time job and we're talking about the best and smartest players in the nation. When Rosen made that statement, he was right. It's a whole different animal at this level of play. My post is pretty simplistic, but I think you know what I'm getting at.

OMG It's 3rd Down!!! Max Protect and 9 routes!!! ...... That's what you sound like Chad O'Shea
It's a refreshing change to 3rd and 9, and let's run a screen.
Just stumbled onto your channel through UA-cam recommendations and I really dig it! Keep up the good work!
This kid stands no chance. When he flops it honestly won't be fair to call him a bust, young QB's need to be taught and brought up right. He's had not one but two awful teams around him and this Miami team is probably going to be the worst team ever assembled.
Well that didn’t age well... “Terrible Coaches”
The dolphins kept Tannehill down and now it was Rosen's turn lol
Thank you for making this video. I know actual Dolphins fans already know alot of this but when your team is tanking its kinda hard for the league to pay any attention to you. Plus, with the Dolphins, even if we were winning the NFL media still wouldn't even bat an eye thanks to past endeavors but I hope this opens some eyes for NFL fans of other teams that dont really get any information outside of what the NFL feeds to them.
As a dolphins fan my team around him does suck 😭😭😭😭
But Fitz won 5 games with this horrible team. Rosen will be a decent backup one day. Just doesn't have "it" factor.
Zac... great program. I'm a fairly new subscriber and enjoy your thoughts and insights. Thank you for sharing about your brother. I loved what you said... don't suffer in silence... that's so true. Like you also stated, let your family and friends know that you love them! Keep up the great work and btw, congratulations on 100k subscribers!
April:
Josh Rosen " yes I'm finally out of Arizona, screw Kingsbury I'll show him
September:Josh Rosen🤦♂️
Nice Video, my own opinion, however, is to look more at the camera rather than looking away. I also think a background that represents your podcast is something you should look into. Great video
I really enjoy your talking style! It's really impressive you can talk by yourself in one cut and really just nail home all of your points! Great video!
The dolphins better not waste those 2020 draft picks, for Josh Rosen
You really do your research and everything you say is well thought out. This is way better than watching ESPN. I love the game like you do and appreciate you taking your time to break down players game film
We did get robbed I was so pissed. Thank you! I think dolphins will keep Rosen contrary to what the dolphin sport writers say.
You feel bad for Rosen? I'll never feel bad forthis dude. So coaches were bad? Then why did they start winning again with Fitz? And beat the Pats in NE?
When blood said “but his team “ this team is absolutely terrible 😂💀💀 I died
My prediction
1. Miami draft Tua
2. They sign a lot of 'good' free agents whilst avoiding the blue chippers.
3. Rosen is the starter for half a season and plays well.
4. Rosen gets traded to a team who may be competitive but QB needy after a retirement. Steelers, Chargers, Saints?
Or bears lol
Maybe it’s because I didn’t get to see the whole play, but how do you let your QB get hit like that at 7:38 and no teammate got mad? Defend him? He got straight up punked by defense #58. He was already on his way out of bounds. Defense looked like they wanted to send a message.
6 months later we have an all star defense and a decent offense explain how we were bad when we were rebuilding REBUILDING.
You should analyse him every week, the boy will need the morale boost and the constructive criticism! Otherwise the dolphins will just waste him away!
Nobody:
Dolphins: Tank for Tua
Also Dolphins: Gets 2 quarterbacks in the offseason
Tua will be garbage in the NFL...all lefties are
@@etiennescarbinski7890 Uhh, Ken Stabler, Boomer Esiason for a few years? But, yeah, it does screw with conventional blocking schemes a bit.
Oh, how did I forget Steve Young.
@@etiennescarbinski7890 steve young???
Dolphins better draft oline and receivers this offseason, they should build around Rosen, if they don't they are the most stupidest franchise ever
Idk somehow Fitzmagic made it work kinda in the end there
A year later I got a feeling the SOS host doesn't feel this way any longer. Rosen is a terrible leader and teammate. Nobody vouches for this guy. Coaches or players
I'm a Miami fan.
2022 is our year. Thank you.
2 months later "HE AIN'T GALVANIZING"
glad you mentioned the offside kick totally bunk call, have a lot of hope for rosen and the future of dolphin football, great vid!
And this is the sound of no one caring
Hey man Im making a request. I am a huge Sooner fan, I was wondering if you could talk about Lincoln Rileys offense and his play calling? If you have time I would appreciate it. Thank you.
Thanks for reviewing Dolphins games means alot to us dolphins fans during this season especially. Hope you will be able to do this full time. Best of luck to you. :)
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on what has been happening in Denver this year. Why the Offense and Defense are ot generating especially the defense. Great content by the way
Love the video and I strive to do something like this in the future. Keep up the great work!
"Before the kicker approaches the ball and until the ball is kicked, all kicking team players other than the kicker must be lined up and remain in their established positions no more than one yard behind their restraining line"
The "remain in their established positions" is the part that was not followed here.
I know it's rare, but the kicker is the person who was offsides during the kick. When you paused it, you see his foot offsides before the ball is kicked
This guy is like a good version of Colin Cowheard
Josh Rosen on the Dolphins reminds me of Daniel Jones playing wit Duke lol
Yeah, while I do think the Giants to take Jones that high. I did think he could turn out being the best QB in the draft, 10 years from now.
Of course, I wasn't enamored with that crop of QBs as a whole, so that may just mean he is a backup and everyone else is out of the league by then.
Hey Zach, any chance you'd do a Jameis Winston film review?
He's terrible, makes awful decsions and hasn't been good since college, Bucs need to trade him if they want to get better.
@@rudi_tabootie just curious as to what Zach think haha. We've got different opinions but thats ok.
If by the mid year 2 he hasn't grown... okay.
Michael Curtis I agree I was honestly impressed with his playcalling
It's just that everyone around him sucks."
That lone statement nullified your whole argument.
Rosen must adapt his
game or get picked up by NE. Those are his only two choices if he wants to have a career in the NFL.
A sports analyst who openly speaks on my dolphins getting the shit end of a bad call, I’ve never subbed so fast.
I've been saying it all along that the Dolphons aren't tanking for Tua. They are gonna potentially trade down and get even more picks, build their O-line, get receivers, and then give Rosen another season as the starter. If he doesn't do well, then they will draft a QB in 2021.
You are a better analyst than 99% of these talking heads on major networks. Good work. You get just how bad this offensive line is
You consistently get more viewers than Rich Eisen's show haha keep up the good work dude.
Hey Zac,
Do you think the Miami Dolphins should take Tua in the next draft or keep Josh Rosen and wait for his development?
Who has a higher ceiling as a NFL Franchise QB?
Love your QB film analysis!
I am a Cardinals Fan, and I feel bad with how we treated Josh Rosen. I really hope he does well in Miami - but I think he might have the same problem in Miami as he had in AZ - a crappy team around him.
Wow maybe if you look at Trubisky like that
On the first play his first read is fine he is told to look at the guy in the flat he is taken, he moves to the open seam which was the plan based on the defense allignment, but having the draw on the other side of the feild so to fake the draw he has to look the other side means he cannot read until he finishes the fake, imo that is a bad play call and rosen is trying to fit it into a window that closed a second before.
Good videos man, i like hearing about american football in this way, you should do an episode on rugby so we can hear your thoughts, peace
5:38. Gotta step up in the pocket
"In training camp, Rosen said he was improving in IDing the Mike LB and the defensive fronts."
We have to remember, these good college QB's are not playing against defenses who field 11 consensus All America players.
