    Hold up, after you pay the fee, you may have to wait between 2 to 90 days (they say 2 to 7, but it took 90 days for some people) for your tax identity to get verified.
    UPDATE: I initially messed up a few things. So, when everything was fixed from my end, it took just 1 day to get my tax identity verified :D

    • @AuroDev
      @AuroDev  Рік тому +1

      If I remember correctly, you first need to wait for tax questionnaire to be processed and only after that you can pay the fee. I think the 90 days is a crazy outlier if someone had to wait that long. Usually it only takes a few days based on the few times I have talked with other devs about it.

    Very useful, thanks a lot for sharing! I want to make something clear though:
    I don’t have a company at the moment and I don’t want to create one because my game will come out 5 months later (dunno this is a silly thought). So; the way I want to move on is, post the steam page on my name (without company), later when the release date is close(the last month), create the company, change the related information I filled before posting the page, and use tax-legal benefits.
    Could you share your thoughts and suggestions on this?

    Hi Auro, Your videos are great, very inspiring, and you always talk to the right point ( sorry my English will be bad:) ). This is my first time to have a comment on your channel. I'm rarely do a comment on youtube;). So if you have time, or something to tell me about this please help me😕. So this is my question. I'm 20 now. Ever since I was a child I was really interested in playing games. No matter what platform it is, mobile games, pc games even the games on button phones from nokia. When I grew up I didn't have a good plan for my future, but when it close to stop my school education I thought may be I can become a game developer in future. I also had some ideas ( for me those are really good ideas as a gamer, not huge games like gta, somewhat like hyper casual games ) to make games. So can I know what should I do to become a game developer, I have read alot about this. In some websites they say that you need to have a degree for software engineering or something like that to become a professional game developer. In some websites or articles saying that you just need only the skill set, which can be learn by doing some online courses or something like that. So auro you was a professional game developer who worked on a company before you got into indie game development right? So what is your opinion. What should I do. My family is asking me to folllow a degree program related to ICT(they suggest ICT because thats the a field that I think I'm suitable ), maybe it will take about 4 yrs to complete. But for me I don't like everything related to ICT, and I don't want to learn stuff that I will not use in future. I'm just passionated to make games and I don't know anything about how to code or things like that. But I'm planning to do some online courses. I'm really interested in making mobile games. ( Also pc games;) ) So I'm asking doing some online courses and learn stuff and make some games would be enough for me to become a game developer and make living out of it? As a indie game developer or as a employee at a company. What I'm trying to do now is worth? Or Do i need to have a degree or proper education like degree or somewhat like that. And again sorry for my bad English 😕

    • @AuroDev
      @AuroDev  3 роки тому +1

      Hey, thank you for the kind words! The great thing with gamedev is that you don't need to get a degree for it and you don't need to go through any courses if you don't want to. They can help, but you can learn everything you need to know on the internet just fine. I did that. My office job actually wasn't anything gamedev related and I haven't worked any gamedev job before becoming an indie dev. One day I just decided to learn and kept going.
      But the problem with gamedev is that it is in no way guaranteed to make money for you. It can, but there's no certainty. So while I would advice you to go for it and become a professional gamedev because you are passionate about it, I think it's a very good idea to also have a plan B if things don't work out. If you have the energy, you can also practice gamedev while you are studying or working somewhere (I did that for 2 years before I quit my job to become full-time gamedev). That's the safe option and the one I would recommend in most cases.

      @@bosslevel1393 if you're passionate, you already have 80% of what you need to be a game dev 😉 The remaining is just a matter of time spent between learning and practicing all the fields that encapsulate game development.
      You should consider that becoming a game dev is tiring in long development projects and that can lead to depression to some points. You can learn anything that's required to develop your game, and for free, but you can't do much about the energy and time that you will lose during this process. The best approach is to develop a lot of little games to gain confidence and develop your skills. Hopefully, that will also develop your sense of which types of game you prefer to make and what are your strengths and weaknesses.
      If you really want to spent money to learn game development, check out the courses of Thomas Brush and CodeMonkey (both youtuber), they really know their stuffs. After that, you should be mainly capable of doing everything by your own and become successful if you put the energy in it 💪

That said, do you know if a viewer can in anyway get to your personal steam profile if you use that steam profile as your steamworks profile? Ie, lets say someone finds my game page, will they be able to interact with me personally such as see my activity, send me messages, or anything like that?

    Hi Auro,
    Congrats on the nice channel and amazing videos. They are helping me a lot.
    I have two questions about the game name.
    The first is about the last moment when I can still change it. Can I change it after I publish my "coming soon"? Steam isn't 100% explicit on this topic. They say that name can't be changed after the "pre-release" review.
    The second question is about length and information in the name title.
    Do you think it's a good idea to add kind of a "subtitle" in the title.
    Like: "Hotter dogs - Sexy cooking" < so that people looking for "cooking" or "sexy" may find the game?
    (No, that's not my game, it's just an example :D )
    I look forward to reading you tips!

    • @AuroDev
      @AuroDev  2 роки тому

      Thanks, I'm happy to hear that! :) I was under the impression that the game name could be changed even after release (it might require sending a support ticket though), but I am not 100% sure on this. Probably best to write a ticket to Steam and verify if the documentation is not specific. I think the length of the name is subjective, but on average I think I would rather steer for shorter names as long as they aren't super generic sounding. Maybe if you know that many people are searching for "sexy cooking" games it's worth including that as a subtitle :D

      I don't think there is any best way to handle it, but I would try browsing for different artists (for example from Fiverr or DeviantArt) and see if you find someone whose art looks fitting to your needs. To narrow it down, you could search for logo artists & cover artists specifically.

    If you own your company then you still get punished, you don't get to escape from a legal problem. company won't save you.

    • @AuroDev
      @AuroDev  2 роки тому

      This will depend on your country and what kind of a company you have. I'm sure it will also depend on what kind of a legal problem you might find yourself in. But for example the type of company I have is a separate entity altogether legally and financially. If my company would have debts that it couldn't pay, I as the owner would not be liable for those debts.

    • @sanketvaria9734
      @sanketvaria9734 2 роки тому

      @@AuroDev so what do they do if company cannot pay? Put the company into jail? Probable in india the owner has to pay as much as i know. I need more info on this. Not comfortable with idea of hiding behind company.

    • @AuroDev
      @AuroDev  2 роки тому

      @@sanketvaria9734 I'm sure there are differences between countries and I don't know how it would be handled in India. But in my country I believe the default outcome would be that the debtors can seek a bankruptcy for the company if it cannot pay its debts. If it does go into bankruptcy, the remaining company assets will be divided between the debtors up to the amount of debt. No jail time for anyone if it's just debt and no laws have been broken.
      I would also like to add that it's less about hiding behind a company and more about securing yourself in case of some unexpected troubles.

    Downvote: You brush over much of what you have to do. I had to actually look up videos on how to do this all. Essentially you said "make a steam account, make a page, fill page out." You glossed over everything. Additionally, you might want to just memorize the script. I can clearly see you kept the script in the top left as you kept referencing it which was off-putting.
    TLDR: not the best video on how to do this.

      Yeah, that's definitely possible! After you use the app credit, you can already start filling out all the store page details. Once done, Steam will check them and then let you post the page with "coming soon" status. The actual game build can be uploaded much later.
