Film 101: What's a Key Grip?

Maybe you've never really had a grip on what exactly a "key grip" does. That's where this lesson in Film 101 comes in.
First of all, you've got to understand that a grip is someone who's in charge of camera equipment. They're responsible for setting up dollies, cranes, mounts - you name it - and it's also their job to move all those high-tech tools around as needed.
That makes the "key grip" their boss, and on top of supervising their crew, they get to choose the gear a particular shoot will require.

the key grips dont focus on the camera, that's the first and second AC's job

Camera support is one of the primary responsibilities of a grip. Anything your camera attaches to, whether it be a dolly or camera crane or any other piece of equipment, is setup , operated and maintained by the grip department. I believe this is what the video was saying here. The only other clarification I would make is that the grip department is responsible for lighting control rather than lighting itself on most projects. But G&E lines do get real blurry on smaller shoots.
