it sounds like the 60s. Somehow, they took this amazing track and improved on it. live. I love the singer - his voice is perfect for this and his vibe is so weird. The whole band seem like they are talented musicians. I'll be listening to this one for years.
They've managed to recreate in real time on instruments pretty much note for note, beat for beat what Norman Cook put together using a whole bunch of samples and beats. Amazing.
The samples being from real players is great but that's not the point. Norman Cook combined the sounds together in the studio, like pieces of Lego - these guys are recreating them *simultaneously*, by playing live together in the studio. That's what is so amazing.
@@jteetj9490 A good player of an instrument is someone who has put in however much work they themselves had to put in in order to play at whatever standard you choose to hold it to. A good artist is someone who creates. They arent the same
As a born and bred Brightonian it takes a LOT to impress me with a Fatboy Slim cover, and boy did this deliver. One of my favourite like a versions!!!!
You've come a long long way together over the years... The Belligerents are one of my favourite Aussie bands; found you guys on Unearthed about 5 years ago and followed you since - you just get better and better! Top cover, well done guys and to Triple J for giving bands like this the platform to be discovered :)
I have always wanted to hear fatboy slim covered with live instruments! I am 36 and this album was a big part of my youth. I now prefer live instruments and this bridges it all together :) thank you !
I like to listen to the live clips from radio shows on YouToob. Whether it's Like A Version, KEXP, or even NPR's Tiny Desk, hearing good bands perform live in a studio setting is my favorite. So how have I not found this before 2021??? I hate it when UA-cam's algorithm hides a song from me for almost a decade.
That was totally awesome! A bit of a nostalgia kick (I was living in Brighton, UK, where Norman Cooke lives, around the time this came out) and the discovery of a fantastic new (to me) band! I really hope they include this in their live sets! That would be amazing!
Never heard of these guys but they absolutely killed that cover.
and making a great party in doing so :)
Same. Better than the original for me.
Right? Love the cover and the band name. Perfect!
this show is a reality check, world is full of talent, sometimes people just need a chance to show themselves, this is fantastic
exactly what I was thinking. People can be this talented and yet remain unknown to 98% of the world
That scream is art. Perfect timing on the entrance scream. Soliddd
made me actually tear up
This is the happiest bass player in the world. So much room in the mix for what he is doing. Dream come true.
The arrangement on this is fucking fantastic. Sounds so crisp.

Just killer version.. More Cowbell!
@@gigwrx1098 MOAR!!!
IT'S BETTER! \m/

You realize that those samples are from real players right?
@@angelusnielson7135 no he doesnt.. sadly no

Elya Yellin it really isn't...being creative is. Anyone can play an instrument with enough practice. Creating a good song is a whole other thing.

So happy they kept that bass line in tact. Nailed it.
Jacob Hunt somehow you have the only comment talking about the bass line. I think it's the best thing about this.
I couldn't recall the bassline from the original. It's mixed really well in this.
It's amazing
Intact or "in tact"? It seems you don't keep proper spelling in-tact ;)
@@estuchedepeluche2212 plot twist: he really worked in a double meaning LOL (but seriously: I don’t really think that was the case !)
this was way better than I thought it could be. There's something fun in a live band recreating an engineered song.
I was not expecting it to be that good... those guys killed it, freaking awesome!!
That drummer was the star of this performance... wow, brilliant...
No
you mean the bassist?
My teenage years is screaming with complete joy!!!!!!
See that thing? Where a band goes into some other dimension beyond playing where the music PLAYS THEM? That shit right there!
As a born and bred Brightonian it takes a LOT to impress me with a Fatboy Slim cover, and boy did this deliver. One of my favourite like a versions!!!!
Respect for Brighton Big Beat scene, lotta great stuff came out of that. :)
Lead singer. Charles boyles from Brooklyn 99. Same person, different hair

Ok i'm sorry this is one of the best Like A Version's of all time i will never be over this! I actually cannot think of something wrong with it!
I agree!!
One of my favorite songs from Like A Version. Such an uplifting happy song
Arguably the best version of this song -- including the original! That's just my opinion!
totally agree
You must have shit in your ears!
Definitely. It sounds like something Super Tramp would have sung. This is better than the Rita Ora version.
What an absolutely smashing blouse
im here, six years later....... such a wonderfull and energetic cover, so sad it is not in Spotify.....
Bass line is tight!!! Love it
Fongpay - yeah this is a lot more difficult for the bass and drums than it might seem, as a live performance. Kudos to these guys. Very tight.
That bass line is like sex to the ears.
8 years later and still one of my favourite Like a Version!!
These guys f*n nailedit. Legit one of my fav "like a version"'s . And, for the record, the shirt was on point
Oh wow! I'm mesmerized, I'm energized, I'm blown away and forever grateful, you made my evening! Sydney, Australia!
What an awesome cover. It's not the original but they made it in to something so amazing on its own
Playing the original sample first was a great touch and a nice tribute to Camille Yarbrough!
God I love this song. And this version takes me to a whole different level….
Huh it was awsome.
This needs to be added back to Spotify and apple music
The lead looks like he's a character from Mighty Boosh.
I know right!
He's king of the mods
I'm Old Greg!
G Sam you ever drank Baileys out of a shoe?

It was just the right amount of cowbell! The scream was great. This was fantastic. As a 90s kid raised on this song on repeat, I approve 👍👍
I think it needs more cow bell.
the bass sounds very good!!!!
I love love love the musician's performance. 💙🎶🗣️🎤🎶💙
I've got "please allow me to introduce myself" running in my head with this one. Awesome!!
...I'm a man of wealth & taste😋
Excellent, this band could reproduce this right in front of your face. Like the cowbell too.
What a great cover!!! Kudos
Soul resonance
Played this fucker about 30 times in the last 2 days, absolute fire 🔥🔥
absolute fire, one of my favorite covers, along with ponds cover of ray of light.
same man
I bet everyone at the Triple J studio was dancing! They should have blasted this all over Ultimo, Haymarket etc etc
Love this so much. Makes me so very optimistic about life when I see and hear these musicians making their music.
In an alternate universe, this is the original and Fatboy Slim's was a popular remix
I have always wanted to hear fatboy slim covered with live instruments! I am 36 and this album was a big part of my youth. I now prefer live instruments and this bridges it all together :) thank you !
Mindblowing cover goosebumps me all over.
This version was badass!!! Love the original from the sample and the Fatboy Slim original.
Epic classic. God I miss late 90s Fatboy Slim!!!!
Goddam. Once again, props to the sound engineer! All the bands always sound superb. The drums in this are beaut!!
Every time I hear this I wish I had been there playing and dancing with the band

Just took the number 1 spot in my personal hottest 100 Like a Version playlist and I hadn't heard it until a week ago.
I loved the drummer in season 1 of Game of Thrones

Ibuprofen.

Mesmerizing. Have listened to other "vids" of theirs. Lots talent in need of a good producer.
Just awesome! You have to acknowledge that! Keep going guys, you're great!
Giddy up! Outstanding performance.
got dope real fast
Indeed!
Oh wow. Love the energy they bring to this. Solid.
release this on spotify!
the singer seems to get his style from Robert Plant
One of my favorite songs from Like A Version. Such an uplifting happy song
I can only imagine Norman will have his own remix of this before long.
Such an awesome 60s groove!
awesome ❤️❤️❤️ fom Philippines.
wow brilliant cover
That boy has got what we in the south call " the gospel" in him, meaning he's got soul and a voice from above!😊
Awesome cover! Perfectly captures the fun spirit of the song and turned it into a jam session!
Initially thought the pitch was a bit high, but man I got into that. Unbelievable rendition
that was awesome
I feel like that shirt choice needed shaky cam and hard zooming in and out
Bass sounds perfect! Drums are good too.
Great cover, I'm glad they didn't change the bassline, it's so ploughin' good!
la mejor cancion de todos los tiempos
That was brilliant! I loved it!
Qué buena versión jooooder ❤❤
That scream gave me chills
Bravo! Top notch performance by all.
This was a real great version of Praise You.
Just loved it!!
This might be the best Like a Version cover ever.

Great energy, great cover. Fucking KILLER SAMPLE, I must find it.
Camille Yarborough - Take Yo Praise.
A brilliant song, brilliantly done.
Amen and Amen 🙏 🙌 👏 ❤️ ♥️
Wow what a great version
Wow, one of the best covers (acoustic of electronica no less) that I have ever heard.
This is the best cover of a song I never thought I'd hear a cover of, incredible.
That was totally awesome!
A bit of a nostalgia kick (I was living in Brighton, UK, where Norman Cooke lives, around the time this came out) and the discovery of a fantastic new (to me) band!

love both the original and this version so much.. this one makes me feel like im flying
Same with few songs from Moby, like porcelain, many think its a guy but this woman had a amazing voice. RIP Diane Charlemagne
Wow, im not much into this type of music. But damn this was like a journey through music.
What an awesome band. Well done fellas.
I love these guys after hearing this. Going to check out more of there stuff
Nice to have a clip where I don't have to skip through the two minutes of JJJ "banter."
