It took me 11 hours to get out of town but I left and it saved our lives. We all understood we would deal with long lines of traffic but after several hours of bumper to bumper traffic, congestion steadily thins out little by little as people go their different paths. Even getting two or three hours away could make a huge difference on the impact. I’ve lived with hurricanes all my life and we ended up on our roof last time. I’ll never stay again.
To be honest, it in large part is BS. People had puhlenty of warning. I get that there are A LOT of variables, so I don't judge, but there is no doubt that a lot of people can do more than they are willing to do. Having grown up in Florida, you get A LOT of misses, and misses that WERE going to hit you. So to evacuate so many times, yeah, it's easy to judge on the outside, but....the traffic isn't going to be as bad come 11pm tonight. On one hand, yeah, it can be hard financially, but loss of life is lose of life. That's the end. There are shelters. There are parking garages. I'm sure there are definitely some people that are just in a BAD spot, so I'm not going to judge, but that's not most.
@@maryw4444 , we are in Riverview. Not in evacuation zone. After the storm it's going to be alot if clean up, again. Probably need to stay home for a day or 2 could be down power lines. Yes, we all have to help each other through this. ❤
I am a Jamaican and experienced Cat. 5, and if your house is not built from concrete blocks and steel and at least 2 levels, you are in danger. I live in Florida in the hurricane area, get the emergency notifications, and all of that. The state declares a tax free holiday every year on hurricane supplies, usually at the start of the season in June. Home Depot and Lowe's don't keep big sheets of plywood around for decoration! This isn't something that just sprang up 30 minutes ago. We've had DAYS to prepare, something I never got when an earthquake hit in Japan. And yeah, when I hear that she's getting wound care, that really makes me wonder. Do you think flood water is somehow "clean" and won't infect your wound? That you can't possibly flood because you're not in a flood plain, especially when the ground is as soggy as it is right now? I can't understand that at all.

@@kaymccormick2279 She is nowhere near the high danger zone! Why are there dozens of comments seeming to believe that the entire state will receive cat 5 winds and storm surge? This is insanity. While it is the worst in a century for Pinellas and Hillsborough, it is fairly ordinary for Citrus, and even northern Pasco is not going to get much worse conditions than it got from Helene. In fact, even our host probably will get less wind from Milton than she did from Helene. Helene came far closer to her than this one will. The state is afraid of being accused of being too lax, so they go whole hog and throw up onto the board mass evacuations from Levy to Lee. That does not mean that all of these places are going to receive cat 4 conditions. Not even remotely close to being true. They did that because, 3 days out, they couldn't pin down where it was going to hit. But as of right now, the only places where there's a significant probability or possibility of Cat 4 winds or surge are southern half of Pasco through Charlotte. And even most of those areas are expected to be cat 2 or less at the absolute maximum. This does not minimize the catastrophe for those who are in line to receive a catastrophe. It simply defines the area more precisely so that the other 4 or 5 million people can make a decision that's tailored to their exact situation.

My love, you have no idea. I’ve been through 5 of these “100 year storms”. It happens regularly here. 😆 It’s safer to simply get to the high ground & ride the storm out. The reason these non-coastal, southern US states are having issues is b/c the infrastructure wasn’t kept up & river dams broke. That’s it. The ONE time we tried to evacuate, we got screwed & stuck in a worse situation. Never again.
I understand that you are staying for your treatment but if the clinic is not operational after the storm, then you can’t get it anyway. There are medical facilities everywhere. Are you going to board up your windows?

@@derito5616 Yes, that's what angers me! These recent storms are NOT natural and appear to be weaponized by HAARP (See Air Force document "Owning the Weather by 2025"). If these storms have been seeded to be super storms, then we should have the technology also to weaken them. The fact that they are doing so much damage shows me that TPTB are at the very least deliberately allowing them to worsen, or at the most, are seeding them to get stronger. No effort is made to calm and stop them.

My mother stayed and had to be rescued off her roof with 12ft of water in her house. 30 days in a shelter after the storm. Mandatory evacuation only means means a certain zone. It DOES NOT mean no one else is allowed to evacuate. You won’t be able to get your treatments because they are evacuating all the medical places. There won’t be any power for 3-4 weeks. Which means no one can treat you where you are.
Wow , your reasoning is spot on ! Almost like you have never lived in Florida. 😎 If it was me I'd be heading to Jacksonville yesterday before the roads got clogged with traffic & gas became scarce. This is very true. The water can contain waste from septic systems and things like fluids from submerged cars. It's also not uncommon to get vibrio from flood waters. We're encouraged to keep update on tetanus shots to keep from getting that if we get injured by storm debris.
We rode out Hurricane Michael 6 years ago. It was projected to be a category 3 hurricane but intensified into a cat 5 storm by the time it made landfall. It hit land 25 miles to the East of us and it totally destroyed our area and we were on the “good” side. The homes on both sides of us had their roofs blown off. Thankfully ours stayed on. It's only going to be a category three when it makes landfall, the jet stream is introducing a lot of wind shear. Also if she's not near anywhere there is going to be a storm surge then really she doesn't have any reason to grab the life jackets. Do as many chores as you can before hand (laundry, vacuuming, dishes etc…) as it will make your downtime without power a little bit easier to deal with… consider getting the dogs special treats like big bones etc to distract them during the storms… your biggest concern being without power for days will be dealing with trash - get cinder blocks etc…. You can build a burn pit to take care of trash and debris…. Take pictures of any damage debris etc… for insurance before you discard it / burn it….
You probably need to board up your windows, if you can. I am in Orlando, and I have a house with older windows from the sixties, and I felt the need to board up this time. Maybe you all can go to a better fortified shelter on the far side of town or the next town over. Best of luck and prayers. ❤🙏🍀🤞
I’m up in lake county, Florida and been here 35 years. This is 100% accurate. Prayers for you guys down on the coast tonight. Only tip I can offer is maybe tape your windows up corner to corner and top to bottom so X over cross. lol. Yall don’t worry. We’ll be fine! We’ll band together and rebuild everything as a family! ❤
Glad you made it out and that you were ok after your last one. Stay safe.
I know the State is opening up more shelters and Counties as well. Our county had to open more because they filled up so fast.

Honey, there are shelters within 15 miles of most places, and FREE transportation. I live in a double wide trailor here in Florida, and the furthest I've traveled for a shelter(pet friendly)was 10 miles!
Its 3pm eastern time--You have about 10 hours to get out of dodge before this storm hits the land relatively near you...The hurricane only moves 20 mph at the highest, , your truck moves at least that even with traffic. . Throw some water and gas cans, and importwnt documents in the truck and take everyone with you at 4pm sharp. Get the hell out of there and head north at least 100 miles... you're in Clearwater which isn't going to take this hit easily... you can sleep in your truck if needed.. you can drive back after a day or two. Or go to a local shelter with everyone everyone.
Nice advice but it's too late. I hope they can get on their roof in time cuz those windows are gonna blow out!
I feel sorry for the dogs! Terrible pet owner.
I think you’re being naïve here. This is a once in a lifetime hurricane.
I have been through a few Hurricanes and I have been through many earthquakes, big and small. I would take an earthquake any day of the week then what is coming at you
There won't be any appointments they will not be open
My thinking as well. They're not crazy

10 miles inland in a home she should be fine. 49 year old south Floridian here lived here all my life. Lived through Andrew and Wilma. Believe me she will be just fine. The evacuations are because of storm surge
Wound care and MERSA appointments? Your appointments will be canceled. What you are doing is putting others in danger!! Prayers are being sent!!
She doesn’t realize that her house is not going to be standing
And a 15ft water surge at the coastline could very well still be high enough to bury her house inland.
She seems to think the wound care nurse will be coming to her
I predict a scam go fund me to pop up afterwards.
FL needs to change law that if you don’t leave on Mandatory evacuation you will be fined and jailed. It’s mandatory, not maybe leave. .

I am curious to understand why your window right behind you is not boarded up? Did you say that you have done everything you can to prepare for this monster coming. I would think that glass Windows would be the first thing to take care of.
I'm not going to judge this lady. What do people do if they have no money to travel and eat? Or children or elderly that can't be moved? What matters is that we stop judging and just pray for all those who have no place to go. I hope everyone is safe, God be with them. Tips: board up your windows, have your medicine & phone on your body. If you have life jackets wear them. Keep the dogs in one room preferably a room with less windows.
Government set up free rides to free shelters via uber app ..not many were pet friendly tho.

I saw someone say make sure to wear comfortable closed toed shoes in case you find yourself walking through water. You never know what is in the water like glass or other debris that can cut up your feet. This is definitely one of the top tips I've heard and I thought I would share.
Yes we have heavy work boots that we have ready.
Glass is the least of our worries about what could be in the water in florida lol i do love the advise however glass and other objects dont scare me nearly as much as the gators and water moccasins... we were out point hunting and came up on 3 moccasins and a gator within a 50ft area a few weeks ago 😊
Reality check: Facing a category 5 hurricane you need a structure that will withstand 7 hours of 150 to 200 miles per hour winds and 3 to 5 days of 5 to 10 feet of flooding. Plus supplies for 10 days of isolation, no roads, no electricity, no communication.
Please upload an after the hurricane video so we know you are all right.
Daily vlogs will still continue so updates will be daily.
I don't understand the reasoning that you had to stay because of your appointments. I can assure you, whoever your appointments are scheduled with have already evacuated. Please try to prepare your home before the storm hits, or better yet go to a storm shelter if there are any in your area. Prayers for you and your family.
If you haven’t lived in Florida or experienced a hurricane firsthand, you can’t judge how people respond or why they do what they do. It’s not about making excuses-it’s the hard truth. Some people simply can’t evacuate, and it’s frustrating that some of you don’t care to understand or acknowledge that. North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida are all different states with different setups. Stop comparing apples to oranges and oranges to pears.
@@kurono122Exactly
@@K29410x Ocala will experience the hurricane a lot differently than say Tampa. The news media hypes it up and only covers the most impacted areas and people think the entire state will be devastated, when in reality it will be mostly the West Coast.
People bitching about her not leaving need to move alone. There’s many reasons why people can’t/wont leave. You act like you’re worried about her life but you’re talking to her like she’s dirt, make that make sense?? Clearly no one has been in a difficult situation such as this.
Prayers to you and everyone affected by these storms.
Thank you🥰
Dear, without judgment; I really doubt you’ll be able to get to all these appointments driving through water and debris blocking your way everywhere.
I got my ass out of there..I was in Bradenton and now I'm inland more...I feel bad for her..I didn't hit traffic because I left yesterday morning..
I would love to know what appointments she's going to with a cat 3 or 4 hurricane coming in a few hours.
I cannot believe people are criticizing you for this decision. I have been in a mandatory hurricane evacuation from Houston. We left at our designated time and it was an absolute NIGHTMARE! Cars running out of gas and being abandoned left, right and center. EVERY gas station empty and no place to stop. The panic of running critically low on gas in the midst of a jam sitting dead still.... Many times the safest place to be is in the safest place you can shelter in place.
We are praying for you all! Our hearts are with you.
Thank you so much!🥰
I remember Houston opened up both sides of the freeway. Why not FL.
@@galethompson5576 they did after the evacuation from a hurricane where people died in their cars from heat, no water. Gridlock. No one could move. Then they made the change
@@ThrivinNDubai Exactly! I tried to make this point in my post. Americans are extremely judgemental!
@@ThrivinNDubai look, she’s posting it and there’s a comment section for what people think about it. Get over it.
All in the line of Milton take a permanent marker and write your name. Social security number and 2 or 3 emergency contacts. Just in case they find you. It will save then the time and effort of having to find out who you are. That wind and water can carry you for miles away. I know people may say you cant put permanent marker on your skin. Yes you can. This is a must.
That is actually a really good idea, ive never thought of that before. I wanna say we don't deal with hurricanes in TN but apparently we do so that's a great idea. Don't think it matters for the amount of tornadoes we get cause usually people know where you're at and what you're doing.
I heard the authorities in Florida told people not leaving to do THAT!!
Yes, if you're not evacuating and live in a mobile home or flood zone. You owe it to your family to do this. There are emergency shelters with food water and meds. Take your pets and be safe. Stop with the excuses.
Im from New Orleans and went through Katrina...trust me when I tell you this lady GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!!!!!
She EXPLAINED WHY she was not evacuating. Why do people not listen .
One comment " you're worried about your appointments when your house will be gone tomorrow " , that is SO MEAN ! She EXPLAINED as well that her health care , wound care requires certain visits . Why is everyone being so nasty , she is try to help . Giving people information on how to "Get information " about local government announcements for those who are new . She is Not asking people to send her help, all she was doing was explaining the " WHY " of their decision. Also apparently local law agrees, MANDATORY EVACUATIONS FIRST .
Others stay of the roads , shelter in place !
They are as prepared and responsible for themselves as they can be !!! God bless you and your family sweetie . ❤

So, you're just going to sit back and wait for rescuers to risk "their" lives instead of getting out of harm's way. Authorities are not saying that you cannot evacuate, they are saying if you stay you will die. There have been several days of warnings. I would have been long gone once Milton swelled to a Cat 5.
Girl, you better get out any way you can. I lived through Katrina. That water from the Gulf can actually go 20 miles inland. You won😅won't be able to go to your appointments, because everything will be closed. You are risking your life and could easily end up dying. At least go to a shelter more inland until it's over, and hopefully, you will have a home to go back to. I am 67 and have been through so many hurricanes. This one is very deadly. Go find shelter.
Do you really think you're going to be able to get to any appointments?
Wow - so sorry you have to deal with negative comments in the middle of an already stressful situation. One thing to remember is as an American you don’t have to explain your lawful choices to anyone.
Here’s my tip: fill your bathtubs / extra storage bins etc with water. You’ll find a need for more water than you think if you’re without power for long.
Great tips thank you!
I’m up in lake county, Florida and been here 35 years. This is 100% accurate. Prayers for you guys down on the coast tonight.
