    Cape Coast Castle and Elmina Castle in Ghana-Africa, stand as poignant reminders of the brutality of the transatlantic slave trade. These castles were central to the trade network, where Africans were held captive under horrific conditions before being shipped across the Atlantic Ocean as slaves. They were shipped especially to the Americas and Europe for their strength to feed and build the insatiable greed of their captors.
    Visiting these castles today, one is struck by the haunting atmosphere and the visceral reminders of the suffering endured within their walls. The dungeons where enslaved Africans were confined are dark, cramped spaces that convey a sense of despair and anguish. Many died in these dungeons due rebelling, disease, starvation, and despair before even making the journey across the ocean.
    The brutality extended beyond the dungeons. The entire process of capturing, transporting, and exploiting Africans as slaves was marked by dehumanization, and a profound disregard for human life and dignity. Families were torn apart, cultures were disrupted, and millions of lives were irrevocably altered.
    The Ghanaian castles of Elmina and Cape Coast serve as important historical sites, not just for Ghana but for the world, reminding us of the atrocities committed during the transatlantic slave trade. They stand as symbols of resilience and strength in the face of unimaginable cruelty, and they underscore the importance of remembering and learning from the darkest chapters of human history. As we return to our Ancestral home, Africa, we pay tribute the fallen heroes and homage to the few who survived so that we may live.

    Its important for us to document our history and the Castles/Dungeons are reminder to the atrocities committed against Africans. My ancestors who made it to the Americas and those who perished I salute you. Thank you for my existence. I really believe everyone from the diaspora if they can should visit those dungeons.

    Visiting & learning about the atrocities committed during the over 400 years of Trans- Atlantic slave trade has given me a better perspective of who I am and how arrived in the Americas. The divide and conquer tactics should not be working today. Lets be a tree with roots.

    Sad to listen!
    I am sure the castle must have been built by Africans. The Portuguese just supervised the processes.

      Its sad it happened and a lot of their descendants justify this atrocity or distance themselves. Yes is Africans blood and sweat built both castle/dungeons.

    Beautiful scenery of Coastline. Terrible atrocity committed.😭 HARD to watch, I don't know IF I could visit Elmira Castle, it would make me very emotional.
    EVIL, no conscience, hypocritical, Brutes prayed while brutalizing dehumanizing & enslaving Human beings. Which God did they worship? Is the Castle Haunted? Just wondering.

      @Wangaraprosperita Місяць тому +2

      Don't think is haunted but there is a feeling of death & despair. Its important that you experience it because there are still evil wicket people in today's world. We talk about other atrocities like the holocaust which was first practiced in German Namibia. We gotta make documentaries and movies.

      @@Wangaraprosperita Yes, I understand the stories should be told by us. Watching it on video made me emotional, so I know that IF I were physical there, I'd be even more emotional. May the Ancestors rest in peace🙏🕊️Forced to live in absolute misery, they really suffered 😭 Only the strong survived.
