Yes indeed.. but i don't see they are doing much to help improve the situation and ensure the d.workers have a safe place to go in their off days... A governmental facility where they can exercise, relax, chat and spend a documented one day off per week. This will ensure all domestic workers have one day off, and they can also complain to the authorities in case of abuse. employers will be more carefull when they know authorities are watching and that they see the worker once every week.

While on lockdown for the pandemic over 400K kids in the USA went missing. When it was brought to light, the investigative Reporter who shed the light was de-platformed from all social media.

This just makes me cry, these girls should be living the best years of their lives. Anyone involved in this should be put to work in the same way to learn compassion for their fellow man.

Google and Apple should be ashamed for hosting apps like this. As the the lady said, if they are allowing this apps to be online, they are in one way or another promoting this illegal activity.
@devontodetroit I would agree, if Google and Apple had created totally open platforms, but instead they try to police their users' content (for PR and so the gov't doesn't declare them a utility monopoly) so they are inviting criticism. That shithead Alex Jones got banned, but I'd rather see him on there than this.
Yes, you had also better boycott any stores that sell paper or ink, uniforms manufacturers, and airlines and they are all also in one way or another promoting this illegal activity. Also kitchen knives are by far most common murder weapon, better blame those companies too and all the corner stores that carry them. We should also make bulletin board providers legally accountable for the information that gets displayed on them. Let us attack freedom and competence in accordance with those worst acts that those conditions have enabled.

As disgusting as the government is for not cracking down on those cases, even to the point that when video evidence is presented sellers aren’t prosecuted, i think the worst culprits are Silicon Valley themselves. they can spend billions to perfect advertising algorithms yet slave trade can happen freely on platforms like instagram and google. Absolutely detestable

These countries involved with agencies who recruit individuals to work overseas as “domestic” workers should be investigated and charged with crimes against humanity.
They also pose commercial cleaners, drivers and mechanics. They are even bold enough to purchase advertisement spots on national news papers. They'll find young entrepreneurs too pretend to be intrested in their specializations and lure them with some "connection" with someone in these countries to eventually lure them to going there. Desperation is a very dangerous thing. Its easy to convince a hungry person a rotten fruit is edible.
Heartbreaking. As much as the apps need to be held accountable, the Kuwaiti government needs to be held accountable and so do the “employers” exploiting these workers.
Common the west is protecting Kuwait you cannot criticise or criminalise Kuwait and their government even human rights, UN , NATO.. would do nothing against Kuwait. ... Kuwait won't sell them cheap oil😂😂😂😂😂

organise into group for defense and don't be so fucking shy to violence. you can see across all sizes of institutions - your rules, morals etc. are nothing unless you can enforce it and that means if you can take the life of someone else for breaking those agreements. armies, cops, bodyguards, gangs, a few people with sticks - you gotta do the ape thing. Whatever they don't want us to do is exactly what you should have under your tool belt. But well, many are blind and many more have their spirits broken, we can only walk alone.
No God won't do anything. He has given us the brain to do it ourselves, but unlike others we have failed to use it. It's in our hands to change this nonsense, why not our leaders ban it?
It's the belief in a mystery God has our people going through this. Let's not forget that her own uncle sold her out and wouldn't take her back. Let that sink in.
Everyone who took part in saving that girl are heroes in my eyes. It’s heartwarming, that people are generally appalled by such disgraceful treatment of our fellow human beings, but also extremely sad that it continues to happen. I think it’s true that people selling really don’t imagine themselves evil, it’s born from pure ignorance. Just as trafficking and the business of foreign domestic workers is a product of poverty and desperation.
The Kuwaiti government declined to comment further on Fatou's case and the people filmed selling the maids will face no criminal charges. This, in spite of a very senior member of the Kuwaiti authorities, the Head of the domestic worker's office, stating on camera that they had clearly broken the law. 😟 That tells you everything you need to know about these animals and the lack of value they place on the lives of people they consider to be beneath them.
Saddam Hussein invaded that country for a reason. It's a State in the desert with very few people who are soaked in oil money. They don't have boundaries.
Excuse me, but not all Arab women are like this. I think you should specify that the gulf Arabs are doing this not all Arabs. It’s like if something happened in Venezuela only but you just lump all Latina’s together as if they are from the same country and act the exact same. Arabs are diverse aF.

lack of compassion for other humans. its how xenophobia, tribalism, jingoism and racism work. you have to teach people that someone that isnt like them isnt a full human so it erodes compassion for them. thus allowing them to commit, support and excuse the most abhorrent moral atrocities towards anyone. its the same reason why men can kill their own wives and kids at times. they have been taught that the women and children are less than and that the man is better than. oldest blueprint on the planet. religious groups have waged ethnic cleansing and all out genocide off these very simple ancient divisive tactics. you're welcome lol

I feel the same, but it's not that simple. Buying her is a crime which could land them in prison, inhibit prosecution of the real perps, damage investigation into the wider corruption and also funds the sale of people. It's like buying cocaine to reduce drug dealing. I'm disgusted at the lack of action taken by the governments/officials. It seems like the mindset of many Kuwaitis needs to change. The idea that it is shocking to let your domestic staff off 1 day per week, or that you should not allow your staff to keep their own passports is very eye opening as a Westerner.
I don't thibk that it's on them to stop this. If the general public knows about these apps, then the police knows it too. They are just not doing anything about it. Knowing were the ppl are sold makes it an easy game for the cops to catch the slave traders.

My toughts exactly. The agency providing the housekeeper for the first family should see through that the empoyee is safe and recieves her pay checks. One of the main reasons why these young (so called hired help) women (teens) get tortured by their female owners is that in these Arabic speaking countries, women are considered lower than their male counterparts.... they are bossed around by their men, but within the four walls of their homes, these same narrow minded women owners want to feel like a Queen.... so they take out all their frustrations on these young girls. In a nut shell, in most cases, its a Woman who is actually giving Hell to their maids and rules them like a ruthless Dictator. Therefore the social structure in countries like Kuwait needs to be addressed here.... and that's the root cause!!!
@devontodetroit same goes for christianity and young boys being used for sex in churches = gross religions
Where are you seeing the comparison? Ye Qi agree with you the Catholic Church is garbage but not seeing how that relates to men treating women like trash in Islamic culture then those same women treating other female workers as trash
that's pretty accurate!!
exactly it's a cycle of abuse.. they teach their victims to abuse.. so they can pass it on to the next generation. And woman abuse as much as men. Just men don't report it or use it to gain custody of the house and kids and everything else others use it for.
All religions are fake. Just have a direct relationship with God not rules and regulations which the inventors of those religions didn’t even follow

It pains me how the Kuwaiti government does not do anything. I think that's a big part of the problem.
Horrible that this continues in this day and age. Thanks that this woman is working so hard to help
What a cruel cruel world. Can you imagine feeling so worthless, can you imagine the thoughts that these people would be thinking. They run away from poverty and wars into the arms of slavery, discrimination and imprisonment. We claim to love, care and feel but inflect such pain without blinking

Interesting how Mark Zucherberg sensors healthcare professionals who express concerns about the vaccines, but selling & trafficking humans on Facebook & Instagram does not violate their rules. Everyone is outraged at the traffickers, when in reality, they should be even more outraged at these billionaires in Silicon Valley who endorse & make human trafficking possible. Open your eyes people, there are evil people like Zucherberg who commit atrocities on a global stage in plain sight.
very thankful that BBC not only researches and makes these documentaries, but also takes a step further to reach out to governments, companies, families... It might not stop it all but even the smallest change saves lives. God bless you for this.

@@cupcakepatrice8418 The USA has several islands, territories which status is rather unclear and could also be descriped as colonies. Not only the US military and the CIA, but also US companies have taken advantage of this over the decades. It was closely described in a book i just read "How to Hide an Empire: A History of the Greater United States" by Daniel Immerwahr. So yeah f,e, those sweat shops with people having withheld their passworts on islands without a way out ... so well sweat shop slavery seems a fitting term.
We Africans have seen misery due to corruption, bad leadership and wars in our countries. This has forced our brothers and sisters into slavery, this is indeed a pity.
This employer law that an employee can't leave without employer consent is absolutely unacceptable on all accounts. How can this be allowed??? I'm concerned about what happens to these women in prison too. That's a whole other investigation.
That’s literally slavery wtf
Domestic work is important and serious, workers need contracts, wages and general rights. Should be clearly separated and differentiated from slavery. If you can't afford it, clean your own house!

These domestic helpers applied for this job from an official house helper provider, they are paid monthly salaries, have a day off and travel for vacations back to their countries every two years according to the contract they approved and signed before leaving their countries. If she didn't want to work as a domestic helper she wouldn't have applied at the first place. I have a domestic helper from Indonesia, she is like my sister, her contract with us finished and she refuses to go back to her country, she says she is happy with us. When we order food in we always ask her first what would she like, on holidays we buy her gifts, if she gets sick we rush her to the hospital. As sad as it is , let us not forget that the girl was sold by her own uncle, after her mother died she became a burden and was sold by her own family, this happens to much in west Africa, that children are being sold to work for the family.
And before those families gets a heavy penalty, this will not stop.
The “Should I grab my bag?” BROKE my heart. What the actual f. I love how the BBC repeatedly blames the app hosters for having generic buy/selling apps, but never once criticises the Kuwaiti Gov't, police, and people in general for being immoral, lawless and corrupt. ....but I guess they don't dare, lest someone complains "islamophobia!".
My toughts exactly. The agency providing the housekeeper for the first family should see through that the empoyee is safe and recieves her pay checks. This has nothing to do with the apps since the selling to one another would happen through any social media if it's made that easy. For fuck sake the agencies don't let the girls quit or change jobs that in it's self sounds more like being held captive than holding a job.
the title is a good clickbait.
anyone who watch this vid won't miss the real issue here.
Islamaphobia is different issue and this is different issue... Many Muslims or people are not rich like Kuwaiti people.... You cannot blame a religion for such crime...
First of all Islam abolish slavery, and promote equal right for every human being. It's not because of the religion it's because of their culture.
I agree. A lot of muslims are heartless and cruel when it comes to other non-muslims but get offended by a person, who criticizes their religion (which is weird because it doesn't mean they criticise that religions' followers).
