@@julianz7555 Well, in UK, English is their native language and in India, English is one of the 2 official languages (language used in official documents). Even the MoD is called as Ministry of Defence (with a "C" in it).
And New Zealand and Australia being former British colonies use defence too. Not sure about Canada. So I guess "defense" is limited to America and the countries influence by its policies.

As a black man, I found this to be so funny I almost fell out of my chair. I've shown it to everyone I know. Within my family, 'Lot A' has become a catchphrase. Besides being funny, it summaries Human nature so deftly.

I think I know where your coming from, but we probably differ on our understanding of "own people". Most people (men, women, children) were not sold by "their own" people, meaning, their own family, tribe, kin, co-religionist, i.e. people of the same beliefs/faiths. There was a distinction between who they considered themselves to be and others. The ones they sold were not their own. In the majority of cases. That is not to say there was never a situation where a person, family or group was sold or exchanged into slavery because of some criminal violation or tribal ostracization.

You are looking at the continent of Africa and saying people who lived in Africa sold other people who also lived in Africa.
Like saying the people who lived within a certain region of the continent, or country sold other people who lived in the same region. (Earthlings sold other Earthlings/Humans sold other humans) Because you live in the same place doesn't make you the same "people" or make the other people living there your own. There were various Kingdoms in Africa over different times. The King or Ruler considered everyone within their kingdom, their subjects or "people" if you will. That didn't mean the King and his family were the same relations or people as the people they sold.
My point is that saying Africans sold Africans, doesn't address a critical most important part which is why? Enslavement of people is nothing new. The reasons, beliefs, and justifications is what distinguishes one form from another. Regardless of who sold who.

Like I want to quit my job, but they offered me a much better position, but it's the same type of work. Somehow now I want to get the position. It is funny because no matter how jarring the situation, that is how people are.
