Stunning. So well thought out and executed. But then it’s Tom Lamb, what do you expect. Apparently he does a bit of farming as well 😂 Loving the Celebs coming to view the hole. What is it with blokes and holes? 🤣
i found you due to collin furze but ive watched every video since you tipped your tractor trailer over and ive gotta say you put out some decent content keep up the great work!
I can understand ABC Concrete not giving Furze a discount but they'd better have given a discount for the fame of being on your channel Tom. Looking very neat and professional, I wasn't expecting that...
Nice job Tom, that pit is so clean and tidy you will be able to rent it out as immigrant accommodation. You have obviously given it a hell of a lot of thought, airlines. lights and even an emergency exit.
Mr Lamb, exceptional build quality, & well thought out! I've been a builder for 45 years, tho started with dad at 11 in 1970 (well onto the other side of the pond, lol!). Glad to see someone that does a proper job! Not to mention entertaining with quite a few chuckles!! Thanx !
Dropped his trowel 😂 reminds me of when I was a kid and all farm walls were 9” hollow blocks. Nobody ever caped them off and everything ended falling down the holes never to be seen again 😳 very tidy job sure gobbled some blocks
Tom we had a saying in the building trade for some people, a jack of all trades a master of none, well you are a jack of all trades and a master of a hell of a lot well done :)
Grand job....only thing missing there was you could have carried the visqueen up the sides as well (called tanking) to prevent damp coming though the blockwork especially as you want to paint the walls.... better off just sealing them ....but its your pit...last thing make sure you have an escape route before you use in case of fire......well planned and a good job
As a bricklayer I can tell you those lads have done a nice neat job there. The only advice I would give them (apart from that trowel is too big) would be buy yourself a magnet with a hook eye off of Amazon and tie a few meters of good brick line to it. I am not the best trowel but I am popular onsite when a trowel goes down the cavity
i helped build an inspection pit once we shuttered the sides and put mesh and conctreted the sides then faced the concrete with 9 inch hollow blocks with rebar drilled into concrete base and filled voids in blocks with concrete and rebar a structural engineer worked it all out because if you only use block the weight on machine ie trailer tractor etc could push the sides in with a person in it
Crackin' Thought the blockwork might bring the sides in a bit too much but it looks fine. Very sensible to have the lights recessed but I hope they throw the light up a bit rather than just side to side. Modern 4 postlifts have LED lights that shine up ~45 degrees from the inside of the rails up and across. The white paint will help a load, too. Be great to see you install the rails. Will you have a central jacking system on the rails like MOT testers do to get the wheels off the groud also. Great and quick work and a great team!
I think you could have a small recess all around the pit perimeter to fit in covering planks. That way if you have to work on something small you can just drive over them, line up and remove the covers where they are clear of the wheels. And there's less danger of falling in and breaking an ankle, I guess.
You would’ve been a whole lot easier just putting in a set a wood steps all pressure treated lumber easier way less expensive, but brilliant design !! And I really like how you did the recess down the side for air fittings, and all your lights !! one thing would be very nice. What did you spend on everything when you’re done?
Too late now but might of been an Idea to put a square sump in the corner on the floor so if you get water in it, you can put a pump it out easy. The one in my work gets water from the trailers etc adding up over time. handy to be able to suck it out. Brush the water to the corner and the pump over pumps it out. Looking good love the work btw
Excellent Tom! Looks so good, almost so I want to do the same in my garage now.. But I don't know, I do want a two post lift however.. haven't decided yet, your project looks fantastic!
Very good Tom thanks for sharing. Are you going to paint the block work white ? Obviously your going to link it up with Furzies underground tunnels 😅😅😅
What a novel idea, using blocks as walls and support rather than some complex, elaborate metal framework and sheet steel that is really difficult to fabricate and assemble below ground level 🤔
Only just starting watching this channel, I think at Makers Central this year I'll queue up to see Colin Furze then get him to take a photo of me and Tom 😆
There's Civil Engineering, There is Civil Over Engineering and then there is Tom Lamb Civil Over Engineering - looks like Military Spec to me but it won't fall apart. 😹
Another Tom Lamb excellent project . Tom I'll give you credit mucka you do a top job on all your projects . This one's looking good . No sump for any floods ?
Is there an issue with ground water in that area? We have had to instal a sump pit and route drain tiles behind the wall to allow ground water to enter the sump at which point a sump pump removes the water. It maintained a dry pit but one needs to keep an eye on the pump. If it fails the pit could flood.
You should set up a camera on like a time lapse to show more of what you do people may like to see more, like the wall building itself up , just a thought
@@Tomlamb980 you can’t beat a tryer 🤣. That’s going to be a great pit for working at your machines. No more rolling around in the mud and water. It might be a idea to put slatted wooden boards on the floor and keep your feet off the cold floor. It’s amazing the difference it makes.
Subscribing to this channel has changed my life. I’m still not sure if it’s for the better or worse, but it’s changed life. Thankyou Tom Lamb

As used to be said by my mates when I was growing up "any hole is a goal"! Suspect it was more related to secks than this but phuck it!
I'm surprised he gets time to do any farmering 😅
@@ianstarcrofthe don’t.
Only subscribed a short while ago but loving the videos, easiest way to have got the trowel, piece of string and a magnet. 😂

The construction videos are easily the best, I was hooked on the shed build!

I told furze to use abc
Coming along nicely Tom, jolly good job sir. 🙂👍
Thanking you
This is great. I have no idea how to do any type of building work so it's always an education for me.
Great video Tom I do like the idea off recessed lights and air line it certainly looks the part and nicely planned out 👏👏👍👍
Man I wish I could come hang out for a week! I live in Tucson Arizona USA. I'm a bit away!!! lol
would describe to new people showing up what the hole is for. Great stuff none the less. GREAT STUFF Tom!
i mean i guess they can figure it out with where and what not, just pretend everyone is 5 years old ^o^
I will do in next video
Doesn’t the video title tell you what the hole is for?
Nice job Tom, that pit is so clean and tidy you will be able to rent it out as immigrant accommodation. You have obviously given it a hell of a lot of thought, airlines. lights and even an emergency exit.
That's one good looking pit. Can't wait to see it finished.
You and me both!
Bet brickies were pleased to do that job indoor in this weather Be cracking job when finished and very useful
Yer that’s why I got it done so quick with the bad weather
"Colin's digging a bloody great hole, so I'm gonna dig a hole too!"
Greetings from Boston, Massachusetts!!!
Helllooooo
Blimey! Those steps are well posh! What happened to an old wooden ladder? Building a spa bath? ha ha!
Really enjoy a Tom Lamb build video. Always the best is can be. Well designed and your team are very skilled.

It's shaping up very nicely! Great work.

Block Work is impressive, very neat and tidy......
Hope you are enjoying this little project, Tom, and I hope Colin Furze is enjoying his little garage project, and I've just subscribed to your channel

Nicely coming on Tom. Haven't you got an air greaser? That's what we used for the lorries, but I suppose it's all battery ones now lol. ❤
Flying along this build Tom 👍 looks great

Or, "Both? Both. Both is good."
great idea I'm excited for the third part whenever it'll be asoihdf
Tom when the pit is finished will you give us a breakdown of the costs , im thinking of putting one in my barn cheers craig
Yer
Tom as the pit is so long, think about keeping an old step ladder up the other end, - (just in case you get a petrol tank fire for instance..)
Sorry Tom (wrote that before your mention at the end) cheers buddy!
Now if Collin wasent engineering/project manager to this I’ll be disappointed 🤣🤣🤣 jokes aside well executed Tom & a great addition to the farm 👍
Hang on I’m his …….

Cracking job bud 👌🏻
Everyone is doing tunnels these days, boring. Inspection pits is what the kids want! Great stuff.
i know its a bit late now. but dense hollow blocks infllled with concreat are stronger. especial then you use rebar!
Now you tell me
Yours will be strong enough! But extra rebar in the backfill is a nice touch
What a novel idea, using blocks as walls and support rather than some complex, elaborate metal framework and sheet steel that is really difficult to fabricate and assemble below ground level 🤔
You guys are doing an excellent job. Thanks for sharing. At the end can you confirm time in hours and cost of materials?
Yes will do
great work tom. Mayne u teach someone how to upload videos and also how to built in weeks not months and his not even half way
Build in days 3 days so far with this build
And there was me thinking you were going to write "SUBSCRIBE" in the concrete :)
Seriously impressive.
Tom lamb you need fit Teseo HBS Air lines in there they would look amazing
Nice one, no messing about 👍.

Can you get it …….. the tom lamb catch phrase lol
Cool job 👏
Have you ever come across that Furze fella on UA-cam? Your hole’s coming on much quicker than the one he’s been digging
Yer I told him he’s slow
Are water polythene the Wolves as well because concrete blocks might be strong but they're also porous
Now shes looking good tom
Thanks

Are you putting any re-bar behind the block, Furze would. the steps are a bit OTT Tom.
Yer

Lookin gooood. However, sorry Tom but the bit where you're 'pointing' around the ducts your hand and arm look a lot like Furze's false arm!

Have you still got the Delorean when you was on the Wheeler Dealers.
Any thoughts on a drainage sump with submersible pump / mercury switch?
Maybe in the future
Hello sir thanks to Collin,s channel I find yours
Nice job.
Pointing? - Don't give up the day job😀😀
What are you trying to say ?
Johnny curiosity over here - are you going to put in a temporary formwork to hold those walls plumb while you backfill with concrete?

what a marvellous hole :)

A 6” base is enough to have a long hydraulic ram with legs as a heavy lift jack :o)
Proper job!
If an entire football team / brass band happen to have gone missing recently I think we know where they might be 😀
Looking good
Propper Job👍👍
Quite a lot faster than Fuzzys bunker and tunnel dig, lol
at the end you could have done with a TOM Lamb hat to keep thy head warm in your tractor 😂🤠
The builder stole it
Good brickies on the job and one not so good 😂. I would stick to farming going by the way you hold a trowel 😂😂
