the fact that you mentioned just how many applications you put in and that your first job was looking for 10 years of experience was life changing for me. thank you so so much
You have a Degree in Computer Engineering and Political Science, that infact puts you ahead of someone with no IT related background. Congratulations by the way
You are 💯 right. Even these entry level jobs won't consider a person with a new security certificates. Adding lots of hands on practice has a better chance though.
This video made me tear up🥹 I always psych myself out of applying for these roles because of the 5-10+ years of experience required but look at you getting the job just by that question over the phone🥹 God’s favor plus your skills🙌🏾🙏🏾 Thank you for this video I’m going to apply now🤣🤣🤣
It really boggles my mind how different each person's experience is. What I see in the workforce it blows my mind that anyone would get a job without 50 years of experience. Most places don't even call me.
Aww I was so proud hearing about your success! Great job! I need to jut keep applying and doing my projects and I will find what I am looking for 🙏🏽 THANK YOU FOR SHARING!
Enjoyed this your 1st video! Hearing your story gives me a bit more hope even though our backgrounds are vastly different your story is encouraging. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I am thankful I watched your 1st video. A much needed boost of inspiration. Best wishes in your journey. Take care.
Congratulations on your 1st video! Loved the story, the energy and encouragement. I hope you journey takes you places you never thought possible. Cheers!
I love hearing this experience. In the process of trying to get into the field now and it's all so daunting and discouraging at times. Also, with your personality it's no surprise you landed that first job!
Came from TikTok (I follow you on there) and was not disappointed at all with you first video. Subscribed to the channel and can't wait to see your journey on here. Keep it up.
Congratulations!!! Can feel your joy through your video so proud of you and I can't wait to see more of your cyber journey. Hoping this will be me by the end of the year!
A really good video for all of us who are trying to land our first role! Just shows everyone's path will never be the same. An inspiration! Can't wait for the next upload!
youre gonna make more money as an engineer. i have a cyber degree and a job in cybersecurity. Im back in school for computer engineering. but congrats on your transition. its a hard one.
Thank you for taking the time to create this account. I’m currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity and appreciate learning more from those who are in the industry. ❤
That one answer interview question is the type of easy effortless interview I been desperately praying for 😭😭😭. I’m a CS graduate still trying to land a STEM job but I’ll take that advice on applying to jobs even with little experience.
Found your channel on tiktok and this is so encouraging. I’m a junior cyber major and trying to study for certs and find jobs/internships is soooooo much but this is super helpful!
Liked and subbed because I love your personality! - Giirl, how do we get that voucher??? 😂 Also, how do you like Cuber Security now that you are in the field? Is it difficult and do you feel the work life balance is decent? I’m wondering if it’s going to be too high stress for me.. I can’t seem to shake Cyber though and keep coming back to these videos.
I gave the voucher away to the winner :(. I will say the area of cybersecurity you choose along with company size will determine your work load. Work life balance has been excellent for me so far because I'm entry level. I can say the same for some senior management in GRC and I would say some senior network engineers never have good balance.
Quick question if you don't mind me asking but did you get the sense that you were hired as a "diversity hire" for this company rather than because of your skills only?
1. Great story. I am thoroughly motivated and sunscribed... 2. I have my A+ and I am currently looking for a job/studying for Sec+ and AZ900. I hope i have a similar experience to yours lol.. 3. How would i enter for the free Sec+ voucher?
I am here for the content but this lady is so beautiful. Now, I have yet to go through more of your content but what is your advice regarding remote work without experience ?
Yea…. Take what she’s saying with a grain of salt cause that’s not how things usually go. Might be her experience but that’s not the norm . Kinda far fetched in today’s economy.
TLDR It degree computer engineering and did courses that got projects to build up your resume. Do projects that demonstrate hands on experience, like auditing(not sure what it is but google) and practice communication skills(soft skills) And some sound issues.
Sorry to rain on your parade. All these tech companies are just looking for the same thing. People with bachelor degree and fresh graduates. They don’t care about experience, or skills. It’s very annoying at this point.
@@jreamscape You’re right!!! I’m not. I have an AAS in CIS. I did volunteer work to gain experience with two different companies 3 months for each one and still CANNOT land a job in IT. As of now, I’m working on getting certifications that is my last resort.
@@jreamscape Ageism is very REAL in I.T. If you’re a woman and black, it’s even worse. I just had an interview last week for an entry level help desk position for a wellness company. The IT manager (middle age white guy) straight up ignored me, and greeted the white young (20 year old) man who was sitting next to me and applying for a driver position. Once the young man told him that he was not interviewing for the I.T. position, he looked puzzled and annoyed to see ME as the candidate. To say the least, of course I didn’t get the job. Smh
I would take this with a grain of salt, if she had an actual job in cybersecurity she wouldn’t be trying to be a cyber influencer so hard , those who don’t do, teach.
the fact that you mentioned just how many applications you put in and that your first job was looking for 10 years of experience was life changing for me. thank you so so much
No, that changed something big for me as well 😂 Let me start applying and stop relying on these Jd’s cuz clearly they are LIES 😂
LOL YES! Do not get discouraged from job postings requiring or preferring 5-10 years of experience.
Landing a role in 8 weeks is incredible 🔥
You have a Degree in Computer Engineering and Political Science, that infact puts you ahead of someone with no IT related background.
Congratulations by the way
About to start school next month for cybersecurity. Looking for internships rn and this gave me some good hope. Thanks for sharing.
Nothing wrong crying in a room full of men, we are rooting for you trust me
COMPUTER ENGINEERING is your degree! Bingo I knew there had to be a catch.
You are 💯 right. Even these entry level jobs won't consider a person with a new security certificates. Adding lots of hands on practice has a better chance though.
I wouldn't say my degree was applicable much to my cyber degree
Right 😂
@@Fanta-Marie It definetly helped its a easier transition into cyber versus someone with a business degree
‼️ lol like did we all hear that. She has a degree any way she tried to word it. A STEM degree! Plus the cert🤦🏾♀️

Fantaaaaa your on YT! so happyyyyy
Congratulations on your first video! Loved it, esp as someone who’s looking to maker her way into cybersecurity!
This just gave me the motivation to keep applying
I have been courses and colle tech classes and 1200 job applications, still cant get a job.
Congrats to you!! This was very informative and inspiring. Making the leap myself and any stories that end like this are more than welcome
I tap into that blessing and opportunity to be trained as a someone with no experience.
So glad i found you.
I really really appreciate this! Thank you!

Great story. Congratulations on UA-cam journey
youre gonna make more money as an engineer. i have a cyber degree and a job in cybersecurity. Im back in school for computer engineering. but congrats on your transition. its a hard one.
Good luck! it was definitely hard but I wouldn't have stayed in that discipline if I could go back.

Did you have the security+ when you got the job?

Which cybersecurity masters program did you do ? What is your Alma mater lol ?
West Virginia University
This is awesome! Good luck in the future!!
Loved this video! The way you tell your stories are hilarious! Also very inspiring for me since I'm trying to work my way into the field.
First! Congrats on your first video upload!
Congrats on getting into CyberSec!! You kick a**!
Subscribed! Loved hearing about your journey. This was very motivational.
Love this! Can’t wait to see more 💖
@Fanta-Marie Toure
Wow,
sharing the love and allowing us to celebrate with you by offering a Security plus voucher is dope and amazing
Amazing sis congrats! Question; the fact that they asked for 10 years of experience but you applied anyways lol. Does the experience even matter?
How do one job search tech companies to start or what are the position titles to look for?
great info thanks for being real about the journey
Im kinda in the same boat and the other day I found a cyber masters and I think this is my sign to go for it ❤thank you
That was really good. You have motivated me. Thanks so much.
You are so welcome!
Cheers to your first video 🎉

Thanks for the useful info 🤭
You are smart to go into cyber security there are so many options and opportunities
Soooo how can i be entered for the sec + voucher giveaway?
I would love to do the Security + cert!

600 applications?? girl how did you do that?
over many months! Jan 2022 to September 2022
I did not think about that!!! I literally have the experience 😭😭
@Fanta-Marie Toure Congrats
Great video. Was the first job in Gov tech?
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 I would have cried like a newborn baby. I’m still looking
Quick question if you don't mind me asking but did you get the sense that you were hired as a "diversity hire" for this company rather than because of your skills only?
I would hope not. Was definitely not a diversity hire though. In the DMV there is plenty diversity, no reason for me to be a unicorn.
Great video!!!
Wait, what happened to that job?
Congrats 🎉 thank you for sharing . 💕 this gives me hope 😅😂
Congrats! that what quick!
Thank you for your inspiration.

Interesting journey. 🙂💯
I am here for the content but this lady is so beautiful.
Now, I have yet to go through more of your content but what is your advice regarding remote work without experience ?
Wait how? lol and what was your skill set at that 8 week mark?
NONE! Lol, I had only learned how to do an audit and completed my Net+ class
Not much detail
Amazing story
Did you finish the masters
Very inspiring!!! Studying too…
What’s the winning criteria for the voucher…😢😂😂 it’ll really help an unemployed lady😊
Thank you for sharing
Thank you !!
Congratulations!!! Keep going girl! Love to see it! 🎉
Meanwhile I'll wipe my a** with my CCNA and go drive uber ,since ghost jobs are super real :D
Also you're so personable. It seems like you've been doing UA-cam for a lot longer!!!
Oooh yeah... that Sallie....she's no joke!😉
Cheers to your first youtube video

It’s easy if you black ngl
Thanks hun

Not true at all. You must not be in the industry
This was true for my second company but not my first
Tell me the companies that do, lol I have been searching forever 😢
