- EH Taylor Straight Rye review with a quick comparison to EH Taylor Small Batch, plus commentary on pricing, rarity, and how I view this in the context of today's market.

EDIT: When I said "only coming out of one barrel," I didn't mean a single barrel product (I recognize this is a batched product), but rather that there's no secondary barreling going on here to give it that "young oak" note I mentioned.

I found this one morning at TotalWine here in San Francisco and was able to grab it for $80. I’ve had it a couple times at whiskey events and I wasn’t blown away - so I’m planning on gifting it to a friend for whom this is their absolute favorite rye. Thanks for another great review.
Just got one for 100 bucks in Indiana! Coming across BT allocated stuff is near impossible down here, super happy about it! Also got an OF 1924
I had won a NH lottery on this for 85, but I live in CT and this was going to be a 6 hr round trip drive. Around the same time found it locally for 120 and pulled the trigger to save my day …and to not give my wife any more ammo on my hunting trips lol
Yes our wives are very understanding because when getting the whiskey 🥃 bug…it is almost impossible to resist to hunt
That has become my primary hunting goal, it’s not the price, it’s not pissing the wife off
Haven’t gotten the chance to try this rye, but glad to know that if I do run across it, at a reasonable price, that it’s not dramatically overhyped. Thanks for another great review. Looking forward to the blind.

In Ohio I bought it for about 75 to 80 dollars, while in Indiana I found it for about 100 dollars
I’m looking for this one at an acceptable price. I found it a few times, but at $200. I’d pay up to $120 for a first bottle. I find it intriguing. The mash has no corn. That’s probably why you compared it to MGP ryes. It’s not 95/5, but maybe 70/30. Thanks for another honest review! Cheers.
I got one for 100+ tax and my buddy traded me a stagg 23c and a buffalo trace store pick I was happy to have a back up stagg
I agree 100% with your take on this.
It shot up in price in central texas around the same time an image started circling that (whether real or fake) showed a pallet of barrel proof straight rye EHTs. This had also not been in the area for 1-2 full years so people speculated it was getting replaced and not coming back. Three months later a couple stores got some old stock, a few months after that, a new batch started circulating and things calmed down.
One of my favorite ryes and a leading one at that causing me to now be a “rye guy”!!
This bottle has a DSP number for Barton as well as BT.
It was good but idk, New Riff Balboa or Malted 6 year and Redwood Empire Rocket Top are really good BiB ryes and can be found MUCH easier.
And one thing that I found shifty abiut this EHT rye is that its bottled in bond as you mentioned but they dick around and put two KY DSP #'s on the lable. Now it cant be a blend as per BiB rules, so its Buffalo Trace or Barton. Its one or the other. Not both. And im betting its Barton.

Paid $120 for a bottle and a backup at that price, zero hard feelings. If the price is closer to $200 that’s a hard pass. Several stores in my area still have batches 2 and 3 of Kentucky Owl 10yr rye for $199 gathering dust. I actually bargained and got one for $170. We all know the winner of that contest
Nice review! Agree that it’s reminiscent of a Sagamore Rye, very creamy, buttery, sweet, cinnamon spice! Last month I scored 5 bottles for 69.99 each! Two back ups for me and bottles for both my sons! Cheers!
Each time I've had this rye, I've felt it tasted like small batch with rye flavoring. Maybe if I find one again I'll revisit. It's just not one to seek out for me.
This is very hard to find. Low supply, high demand equals high $$$. It’s very nice. If you want the experience, you’re going to have to pay up!

BT rye game is weak in rye , 90% of shelfer rye beats it....I traded mine for a stagg jr
