Only the most idiotic parent takes a childs word at face value without a good amount of skepticism and investigation

Adults presenting a united front vs a child who's acting out is really important

The teacher is lucky to have such a supportive principal. That mom I’ve run into.

For this teacher mom to just blatantly dismiss the teacher's concern shows either huge ego or she's actually a narcissist.

Not a teacher, but 37 years working in mental health with children, I always ask why a change in behavior from the child's norm? Children cannot always connect behavior to feelings. This mom needs to talk to their child or ask the school counselor to talk to him to see if something is going on.

I taught at a K-12. I had a teacher’s kid in my class and she taught a different grade. Her lunch time was when I had her child in my class. She would interrupt my class almost daily to give him some food that she warmed up for him. It was such a disruption. I even talked to her about stopping and she agreed but was right back at it the next week. If she didn’t come, the kid would “ go to the bathroom “ and come back with food.

Mom was not going to go up against the principal regarding what the principal witnessed, so she was embarrassed and wanted to pretend that she didn’t know anything about his behavior. It never ceases to amaze me when parents do not believe the teacher when they get a call about behavior. I have many other things to do with my time and hate calling home about behavior concerns. There is no way I am going to make something up. I can’t believe Mom is a teacher and thinks another teacher would behave that way. If Mom was really concerned about how unhappy her child was at school then why had she not contacted school before? I would have been more proactive. Sounds like there is more to this. Maybe problems at home.

It seems like something else is going on with this student at home to cause this aggression. Maybe his parents are fighting with each other.

My son did this in first grade. He came home crying saying his teacher kept calling him a liar. So i went to school the next day to talk to her...she said he keeps lying. As an example she said he came in with a key and told everyone lies about it. I asked my son what he was saying, he said it was a key to the basement where his pet dragon lived. I was pissed and said he was just using his imagination and she shouldn't be calling him a liar. I had him switched to another teacher and he absolutely adored her

One of the most satisfying and funniest interactions I had with a parent was at parent teacher conferences. This kid would come in and sleep and slack. His portfolio had nothing. His mother WAS GETTING A DOCTORATE IN EDUCATION! Both his parent roast the hell out of him in front of the coteachers. The mom would pull a half assed worksheet and say "this you?" It was the funniest I've seen and dad was just backing mom up like he was a hype man😂

My impression is that the teacher/mom was doing a "my darling little angel would NEVER do that!" thing. She felt free to disrespect her son's teacher, but when the principal confirmed that he'd seen the same behavior, she respected HIS opinion. Too bad for her. She doesn't sound like either a good teacher or a good mother. Too bad for her son too.

I've actually been a victim of a teacher singling me out to get me in trouble. My mom believed the teacher and punished me constantly 😢. I became so depressed and terrified of coming to school because of that teacher. I even attempted suicide. It wasn't until the teacher was caught physically beating another child that my mom realized I was never in the wrong, and just said "you should have told me he was being mean to you." So forgive me for believing in the mother at first and not the teacher.

My son is a very calm soul. When we moved to a new school in second grade I was called in for an incident a few days later. The teacher said he hit a little girl. I apologized to the teacher and said I would discuss it with him. Knowing he was a calm soul I was surprised. In talking with him at home he said the girl hit him first. Nothing else came up the rest of the year. Sometimes teachers just want the parents to assure them they will parent their children. Sometimes it takes more than one voice to convince a parent when there is a problem. The fact that mom teacher lied meant she was embarrassed and ashamed and needed to cover for herself.

In my experience as a student, staff in a children’s residential home, parent and Educational Assistant I can definitely say there are all kinds of teachers out there. Most on the good side ranging from good with the kids and really personable to amazing and go abouve and beyond. Unfortunately there is that minority group that are just putting in time, or on a power trip, the ones that you really can’t understand why the picked that career path. I am not wanting to throw shade at the mother, but do we know what type of teacher she is. Is she the type that singles out kids and just assumes everyone else does this too

I literally just had an identical interaction with a teacher parent. Of course their child is an angel and WOULD NEVER, but even if he did THEIR students are so much worse and I’m totally just singling him out. No matter if the principal and other teachers say the same things about the kid, I’m the problem and bullying their precious baby. 🤨

First thing I thought was child's being abused somewhere but not at school. Something's going on at home. Usually a child that acts up something's going on somewhere maybe mom doesn't know about it who's watching the kid after school. Or is there a sibling. He's on a baseball team wow now I'm worried about the coach or one of the other kids's dad's not good A bully is usually made because they're frustrated and they don't know how to communicate that somebody's bullying them or abusing them. Not cleared up not giving help they just turn into your average bully violent child unless the child has sociopathic or pathological problems which starts showing up when they go to school so the kid needs help no matter what This has to stop. The mother is a problem as she doesn't seem to want to really face this with the school.

To me it does seem like she was trying to shift blame back onto the teacher from the start. It’s amazing that the teacher was attentive and watched for their own eyes and confronted the mother. I wonder what transpired after what we heard?

Is the mom the same kind of teacher as the teacher? If one is only a daycare type of teacher and the other is a middle public school kind of teacher, those are NOT the same thing.
As to the email, maybe the mother was embarrassed by the whole thing. Like an...ooopsie, his teacher WAS right that little Billy was being an AH. Lol. That's why she never talked to the teacher again for the rest of the year.
Did any of this improve little Billy's attitude? Or was he just pushed on to the next year with all his AH behaviors??
