I am SO THRILLED with the recent trend of hobby UA-camrs visiting factories and making such cool, informational videos like these. Keep it up guys! ❤
He's pretty good at table tennis too.
Yeah goobertown really set up a trend the others couldn't say no to, didn't he?
@@PinkyJusticeHe sure did. It must be getting competitive out there.
As a gun guy who knows cnc and manufacturing I concur. I'm going to be getting a few soon for 40k and cerakoting guns. 😅 I'll probably have 3 different guns by the next month or two.
The bloke in charge of the factory seemed so fuckin chill and I like that he seems like a bit of a nerd himself
massive nerd. Huge.

i love you squidmar
We do too :-)
Me too!
so, all the video was a commercial
Living 18km from H&S. If you had called, we could have had a cold beer. Next time?

That adjustable collar is a great idea! Much easier than the stopper on the back of the needle style! I wish I could own one of these beauties!
As good as they are, getting a 10-20e generic mass produced chinese (or even for eu a few local variants in spain and netherlands) and if something fails splurging the 40 to get the replacement "lever action part" and "complete valve" from H&S or similar place for the parts that need the precision and detail thus choosing the lasting quality and overall saving 100-120+ euro difference minimum if not 200-300 is likely far better. The ergonomics of airbrushes is equally fucked no matter how much is spent to perfect the 0.05mm on inner chambers that will not matter for most figures and models compared to just a sharp good needle, durable seals that even cheap knockoffs now do well and keeping the airbrush either in window cleaner or water if you are too lazy to manually clean all bits.
definitely no more ice cream boxes for you :-)
@@harderairbrush Fair, only needed the one after all. X3
And i do mean it with the highest respect as the quality more than speaks for itself (and doesnt need intro for people that get the full value out of them), for me its just a question of relative returns on what one is actually paying for that isnt needed on a hobby or even basic professional design, promotional graphic comic/illustration and tech decor level on how nice it looks, if there is a 10 to 50 micrometer imperfection on the hole compared to just the needle tip being ok (and me being a Scrooge McDuck).
It would be amazing if a established and highly respected brand got down to the 20-50e bracket thus having the guarantee of the brand, the knowledge one can get replacement parts or even upgrades through specific parts only instead of buy a entirely new airbrush. Perhaps even push the mentioned ergonomics game a bit (that nice Colani grip style or a variant with some form of swappable left/right handed rubber vs rougher textured for glove use) as other than issues with paint+cleaning and a safe yet strong enough compressor, the getting used to holding a airbrush does get brought up quite often as a reason why people dont bother (and not everyone has a 3d printer or friend with one to print out a good custom grip), if the budget allows?
@@jameswilliams3304 What are you on about, they are all compatible for core components. I mean you cant combine different piston setups or put a significantly larger airbrushes trigger through a smaller socket if the opening on the body isnt of the right size, but those are very obvious and basic things that only require a basic glance at either schematic or replacement part lists.
That's like saying that you cant use a regular tire or even fridge compressor for airbrushing just because you refused to look up what store has the right hose threading adapter.
I love my H&S Evo Silverline. The toolless cleaning is just awesome. Looking forward to see what you've produced.
Can you elaborate more? What is toolless cleaning?
@@giapchin iwata needs a little spanner to take the nozzle off to clean it. H&S you can just unscrew with your fingers. And the nozzle is bigger and easier to clean.
@@DanielEbeck Ahh I see. I was using a generic brand from China (for learning) and it was toolless. Now I see what you mean.
@@giapchin you don't need a tool to take the front end with the nozzle and crown apart to clean it its all just done by hand an no smaal parts Chek on how to clean a H&S online it shows you how easy it is also how easy it is to change nozzles and needle sizes i love by H&S brushes
Love the how it is made episodes. Big fan of metalwork, machining, and precision manufacturing. Thanks!
And even though I already own an Infinity, the Ultra looks amazing for a second one for bulk-work and for my beginning-hobby kids.
Ah awesome! We would love if you got your kids started with our new Ultra! Thanks for being an Infinity guy already, too :)
Not all airbrushes are expensive, u can get very cheap airbrushes from China for $10-20, and they still work, they still are great for basecoating minis, even basecoat and zenithal priming works, plus if u damage it, like u probably will while learning how to pull them apart and clean them coz ur learning how to mix the paint, so I do recomend getting a cheap airbrush for practise and while u buy an extractor fan and other supplies tlk rep the initial cost down, then after a couple months I can upgrade to a “good” airbrush, I have one old damaged cheap airbrush, one great squidmar airbrush and I think 2 more cheap airbrushes I got for if I want to play with strange paints, like enamels, thru an airbrush it won’t ruin my good one 😉🍻🥰 they aren’t bad decisions imo, just starter brushes, like when u start painting minis it’s not normally recomend to buy a 30$ paintbrush coz u’ll probably ruin it fairly quickly, but if u buy 10 for 2$ brushes u can destroy them while u practise 😉🍻🥰
I've just decided to make a video on how difficult it is to damage our airbrushes. I hear it so often - start with a cheap one so that you don't ruin it - we make our airbrushes so that real people can use them, and not ruin them ;-) I'd really like to encourage people to start with a good airbrush, simply because they are more likely to enjoy themselves with it! But thanks for the video idea! It'll be fun to make!
@@harderairbrush it’s just to lower the upfront cost, mostly for newer warhammers that I say this, anyone who paints every day for months already I def suggest they get the best they can afford, but when u need to buy an airbrush extractor fan, air compressor and a good quality airbrush it can get very expensive 😞 so someone who isn’t sure how often they will use the airbrush should start with a lower cost setup imo 🤷♂️😉 but yeah artists that know they will use it more will be if it from better quality like anything 🍻
@@jameswilliams3304 if someone is brand new and changes their mind about using an airbrush (maybe they decide they don’t have the space, or that warhammer in general is overpriced so they don’t want to play anymore) then instead of spending a few hundred dollars they have only had a smaller upfront cost to try it out… I’m not saying that cheap airbrushes are a better option or that they will do the same thing, I’m saying they are great to get u started and try it out without dropping a big lump of cash on compressors, extractors, cleaning and thinning stuff AND a nice airbrush too before u even start airbrushing
I had the opportunity to use a H&S airbrush many years ago. It's one of the Cadillacs of the industry. I'm glad that I'll be able to finally put one into good use on a daily basis.
Thanks goes out to Squidmar and H&S Airbrushes, for bringing this opportunity to us.
Thanks to you too! Over here, we like to think we're more of a Porsche. But I drove a Cadillac once with a big block and I liked it!
Got mine this morning. 12/04/23.
The cardboard outer shell is a fun Squidmar artwork reminiscent of the 1980s. Has an ole school DnD look to it. Inside the hard case is a Stunning looking airbrush. Connected it to my compressor. It has a smoothe flow throughout the pull of the trigger. No spitting. Easy to achive a wide fog pattern, down to nearly a hairline. Looking forward to using it in my next macabre painting.
Thanks again to Squidmar and Warwick ( not sure if I have that right) at Harder and Steenbeck
Cheers
Ah man this is super tempting... I've had an airbrush for a few years now, a Badger Patriot 105, and tbh I never really developed the skills to do anything with it, I just found settings that worked for priming, base coating and zenethol highlighting and do nothing else with it. That adjustable collar design looks like it could really help the learning process in a way that I don't think you can get from watching UA-cam videos xD
@@jameswilliams3304 I've since ordered the H&S. The patriot has been a great workhorse the 2-3 years I've had it, but I've never progressed beyond priming and base coating etc. When I was first looking into getting an airbrush, the Badger Patriot 105 was generally considered one of the best low to mid range airbrushes, certainly don't regret the decision I made at the time, but I think this new H&S ultra being designed for teaching beginners would've actually been the perfect brush to get back then - so I got it now instead xD
I felt the same way.... even more so having watched a couple of review of the brush now.
The H&S trigger is so nice. I have airbrushes from most of the major manufactures of air brushes. When you have to fully take apart an airbursh the trigger bit is always the must furstrating part about putting it back to gether. Their design is, by far, my favorite.
I'm biased of course, but they are a dream to clean!
Thank you!
I wish I had the money to get the beginner airbrush
It looks outstanding! Just incredible how precise and beautiful they are produced 😍
Thank you! That's a lovely compliment.
I can't recommend my squidmar airbrush enough. I have airbrushed at every price point, and it's the best hands down.

@@SquidmarMiniaturesfasteeerrrrr! Soon it will be time for my own grand reveal!
Just what I did. As a beginner, I am excited about the new Ultra and having it Squidmar LtdEdt. is the icing on the cake.
Just bought it. Great to see where the airbrush comes from. Hope there is a follow up on this vid.
If they are so accuratly, why is there such an inconsistent triggers because the point at which you pull the trigger and the paint begins to leave the airbrush is always different. I am specifically talking about the Infinity CR Plus. Maybe they fixed it in the 2.0 version. Lots of other airbrushs dont have that problem even the cheap badger sotar 2020 is constant.
Thanks for asking this. Our airbrushes will only ever represent the very best that we can do at that time. The last five years has been a great period of investment and learning for us, and now we're ready to share what we've learned with you. We're happy that over the years many artists have created great work with the Infinity, so we're confident that it's always been a good airbrush, but we at H&S will always be happy to come in to work every day and try to find ways of making an even better airbrush. Our trigger response is an area where we needed to work on, and we believe that we have been very successful in that. Hope you discover the same the next time you pick up a new H&S.
Interesting video but I feel like I've just watched a 15 minute H&S advertisement. Were you paid by H&S to produce this video? If so, surely this needs to be disclosed as a paid promotion?
Nope, but I think I paid for lunch.
People will complain about airbrushes being expensive (not all of them are, but sometimes you get what you pay for), while spending hundreds on paint and models. Then content creators will either avoid using one so as not to alienate potential viewers or they will stress that you can do this part without an airbrush. It's all quite silly.
I just received my Ultra. There is no comparison between German fine engineering and the other stuff they call airbrush’s. From the minute I took the Ultra out of the case I could tell the difference! It was perfectly balanced to sit exactly in hand. You can feel the difference immediately. Like it was made perfectly for me. Warick makes sure you know how to use the Ultra right from the get go. I like the videos that Warick makes but I would like to have paper instructions as well.
$132 shipped to Illinois, if anyone is wondering. To me, that's a heck of a deal. Cheaper than my 15 year old Iwata Eclipse, presumably better as well.
Issue though, not once does the difference between the 'cheap' and the 'expensive' brands get told, he just talks about their cheap, medium and expensive, not the cheaper models on the market, Plus you skip some steps on the machining like oh.. adding the valve body to the needle tube etc. This is more just an advert than 'Why are airbrushes so expensive'.
You open with 'What is the difference between a 15euro Ab and a more expensive one, and never answer it.
Hey mate, thanks for the feedback. It's in there in the video, we show examples of poor engineering and difficulty to clean the cheap airbrushes. There's explanations in material selections and similar. Unfortunately we didn't have the chance to interview a chinese no name airbrush factory - but as shown The difference lies in QC, precision in machining and engineering. Perhaps we missed the mark in some ways and i appreciate the feedback :)
There's almost not difference really, except you can buy 2 or 3 cheap ones and when they break not sweat it. They have a much better more consistent trigger and a slightly more fiddly and fragile nozzle. But nozzles are cheap...
@SquidmarMiniatures squid you barely showed the actual production of their airbrushes properly either you jump leaving entire sections out. There is/was nothing stopping you taking a cheap airbrush and going to them ok explain exactly why this is not great.
Your example is for 1 cherry picked cheap airbrush, most of the cheaper airbrushes are slotted cup designs which will take a q tip quite fine.
You had an actual chance to do break downs of the brushes and show the diffrence in interior qualities but didnt. Instead as said this acts more like an advert.
Heck showing the difference in orings etc would have gone a long way to showing why the cheap brushes clog up so easily.
@TheAegisClaw there orings also tend to be cheap disintegrate quicker as there not normally tefflon based. Have both cheap and expensive guns the cheap ones are great for base or testing mixes because your right there cheap but spending 200 or so on a good brand gun will save you time and money in the long run.
My Iwata i have never had to replace seals in or the needle spring etc but the cheap stuff the seals go first almost every time. Which results in back flow and clogging. 15 to 30$ a gun adds up if your using them often and having to replace were as putting the 200 or so on a good gun doesnt.
@@starfleetau fair points. For me, I sold my H&S Goraldez and now just have 3 Fengda which were less than 20 each. I can have a different sized needle in each and I'm ready to go for priming, general use and detail.
If I get a quality brush again it will be an Iwata, I've had enough of the inconsistent sloppy trigger on H&S brushes, the Goraldez improved it, but there's still significant play compared to the Iwata style my Fengda brushes use.
As a complete newbie to this airbrush world, I've dipped my toe and purchased one. Hoping for the best products, gorgeous aesthetics and hopefully another usedul tool👌
Based on this and the name I bought mine but have now waited over a month without hearing anything about it being shipped, did I miss the part where anywhere mentions the delivery being abnormally long? Long time follower and love the videos then and still, but support hasn’t gotten back to me either.
One of the big things putting me off is safety. It can be pretty hard to find definitive info on exactly how toxic the materials we use in this hobby are. Like airbrushes, some people say "just crack the window open" while others say "heavy duty spray booth and mask or you'll die". I've got cats and my hobby space is my bedroom, is there any amount of airbrushing that's safe?
It largely depends on the paints you're using, acrylic paints for example aren't toxic and won't kill you, the issue comes from breathing the atomised paint in and the damage this could do to your lungs (just like breathing any dust in).
So more ventilation is better but I don't think you need to go crazy. I wear a mask, open windows and have an air purifier.
These type of tours really make u appreciate finely crafted tools and really understand the value of that tool!
thanks!
Congratulations to you and the team. I love how excited and proud you seem in this video, and with good reason! Fantastic stuff, good luck with the launch!

This was very interesting and entertaining!
Factory tours are soooooo cool. I love these, makes my time working as a supply chain engineer even more satisfying haha.
I wish you would have shown the needle production in some more detail 🙂
Do you know if existing Ultras can be retrofit with the new trigger and pull-back wheel?
Unfortunately it was the only part we werent allowed to film :/
Unfortunately not, as the airbrush have been completely redesigned. Needles and nozzles can be moved around as always.
@@SquidmarMiniaturesThanks! So the needle is the secret ingredient 😅
Oh well, now I have to consider whether I buy myself a second Ultra or whether I just try to learn correct airbrushing the old fashioned way

I legitimately couldn't find a cheap airbrush that looks as good as the one Emil showed in the intro. All of mine looked very obviously cheap and shit. They also clogged and broke so I just bit the bullet and got H&S Evolution.
Had it for about a year now and I must say...the main issue with clogging was probably the nozzle cap. Round ones cause clogging. I stopped using it with Evolution and basically never have issues anymore.
take a look at the painting process video on the product page - hopefully it's helpful! And thanks for being an H&S customer!
Out of interest does anyone know the needle size of the previous Squidmar themed airbrush?

Yay, i have bought one. Do you guys plan on having some airbrush classes in Umeå in the future?
Thanks so much!
Can’t wait for the day I get to have a whirl at a airbrush!!
Harder & Steenbeck are truly exceptional:
I got the limited edition H&S Squidmar airbrush, and a few months later I was away from home for a month. I left the H&S Squidmar submerged in water with my H&S Evolution. Probably due to dissimilar metal corrosion the aluminium trigger of the Squidmar fizzed away losing about 40% of its mass and becoming unusable.
I emailed H&S, who posted a replacement for free (ai had offered to buy it). Unfortunately the envelope arrived with a tear where someone had stolen the replacement, I emailed H&S again and they sent another replacement trigger which arrived intact. I no longer leave my H&S Squidmar submerged at all, although my evolution is permanently stored in water. Lesson learned, dont keep an airbrish with aluminium parts submerged with a steel airbrush.
Anyhoo, it was excellent customer service from H&S to twice send me a trigger.
cant wait to see the pro models. already started saving.. YES
Can't hurt to have the complete lineup, no? :D
we've had to put a couple of yoga mats in our assembly area to help the staff calm down and stop getting overexcited. The new ones are pretty cool :-)

I'm terrible at maths.
You got me there, Emil! Ordered your squidmar design Ultra 2024 and really looking forward to it. I started airbrushing this January with a relatively cheap airbrush and transportable compressor set. While it was fun when it worked, I encountered all the problems you and every other airbrush professional predicted with a cheap one. About time for an upgrade!
I ordered the Angel Giraldez AB last December and funnily enough that one, shipped from overseas, was cheaper than the stock H&S it's based off sold here in the US. And I got an extra nozzle and needle.
It was $208 USD after shipping
Another great one

I bought my Infinity 0.15 + 0.4 about 10 years ago. Liked its design and quality very much but the trigger inconsistent problem solved only few months ago when I saw Dred's video about putting 2 teflon o-rings behind it. I thought it is the finest airbrush in the world until recently I bought some pin gauges to measure the nozzle opening sizes. It is not what H&S claimed 0.15, instead it is 0.26. I did the same test on Olympos 0.18, also 0.26. On Tamiya's 0.20 still 0.26. That means ALL OF THEM LIED ON THEIR NOZZLE SIZES. Can you help me to ask H&S why?
What a great question. I cannot speak for others, but I can tell you from our side. Back in the day, we named our nozzles for the line width that we tested them to produce, using a control ink. However, it is clear to us now that people always interpret this as a description of the nozzle aperture. The decision has already been made to change this to suit what people assume the dimension refers to - for example if you measure the nozzle aperture on this new ULTRA 2024, you will find that it is 0.45mm. The others will soon be updated to reflect the same. I hope that gives you some insight to your excellent question.
Thank you so much for your answer. I thought it was sales strategy to compete with others (Japanese?🙄) who claimed theirs are finer than yours.😂 Most people cares only the performance and easy to use. I wonder if anyone really make one with nozzle 0.15 which can still spray. In my experience your 0.15 or Olympos 0.18 are already the limit. Really appreciate your company's passion in this industry and looking forward to more new invention. Thanks again !
our pleasure - in my opinion, what we need from a nozzle has changed... in the old days there were many paints in use which were water SOLUBLE, but now we use paints which are almost exclusively waterbased i.e. an organic compound suspended in a water base - therefore there are undissolved particles of pigment in the paint. Therefore spearheads and nozzles must mostly use aerodynamics in order to create fine performance, not simply tiny apertures, as tiny apertures are really unfriendly with suspended paints like modern acrylics. And yes, we do have a marketing strategy which we really like - tell the truth about our products, and be transparent with our customers 🙂 we enjoy this strategy most!@@timothyng3829
Thanks for answer. I worked several years in a German company more than 20 years ago, so I know you're sincere and honest people. No doubt you're making the best airbrushes in the world. I think nowaday airbrushes can easily draw fine lines, just a matter of the matching between material viscosity, pressure and tools.
Another issues are: 1)Almost everyone of us hates the cleaning works after use. When can we have something that save the step? 😅
2) The paint cup obstructing painter's view but don't like side cup or suction type. What else can you make? Something like a fountain pen with capsules of paint?
Please watch my painting process video on the H&S channel - at the end, after half an hour of painting, the cleaning process that you see is ALL I did, and you can see the perfectly clean needle afterwards. Nothing more is necessary when you just make a small effort to clean in between colour - again like we show on the process video :-) for the eye view - good news is that this Ultra has a much larger diameter hole for the cup to fit into, and we shaped the bottom of the hole like a sphere, so that you can use this hole as a paint cup. It actually holds enough to do detail work quite well - and this is when you need the sight... It's a simple solution, but it works really well! And thank you for your very nice answer :-)@@timothyng3829
Instantly preordered the new Ultra airbrush. I have a H&S Infinity CR Plus and adore it, but I have been wanting a new airbrush for priming/zenithal to replace my Neo Iwata (as it's a bit of a pain to clean and maintain in comparison, which puts me off using it sometimes).
I wanted to hear you bagging on the $15 airbrushes.
I'm considering getting a new airbrush, but is shipping to the US reasonable?
I've been using a Badger single action external mix airbrush since the late 80's, maybe time to fanci-fy it a bit.
Take a look at our shipping rates - it will display once you've put a product in the basket - hopefully it seems reasonable! We've negotiated as hard as possible!

I'm amazed by the fact that they are lathing even simple components such as the cup. I would have assumed that that was a die-stamped part or such, but to start from brass rod just to make a cup?
there's a lot to a cup... a nice shape inside so that it's easy to wipe clean with your finger and a paper towel... a perfect taper so that the fit to the body is secure and cannot leak... a return on the lip at the top so that when you move the airbrush, the paint cannot slop out of the top... having total control over the shape inside and out is very valuable to us and you :-)
It may also be cheaper to use another copy of the same machine rather than bring in a brand new machine with an entirely separate manufacturing process

@@harderairbrush I'll be working on improving my airbrush skills enough using the Ultra by then to justify the Infinity. :D :D
Would you need a dedicated airbrush station with ventilation, or is it fine just to use at your normal desk?
Depends on what you're sparying and how much you spray. 10-30 minutes airbrushing per week with non toxic acrylics is fine. Enamels, solvents... and massive amounts is not something id recommend long term.
Been looking to get an airbrush myself
I want the infinity version but I guess I also need an all rounder airbrush so I'll sponsor Squidmar
Infinity version coming in two months 🥳
With many tools, they come from the same machines, housed in the same factories, all owned by the same people. The difference is quality assurance. Big names brands get the first pick of the highest quality parts, which have the best QA-testing tolerances. Secondary parts that don't make the cut are not always disposed of, but instead placed in off-brand products. These "off-brands" might even belong to the same people as the big name brands. You get basically the same end product, but one is guaranteed to work properly and backed by a warranty so it costs much more. That 'Super-Televee' brand TV you have is probably a Samsung panel, but did not meet Samsung standards. They can't put Samsung's name on it, so they under-tune it to run at a lower spec and sell it under a different name. High end technology is expensive, and it would be wasteful to throw out millions of parts each year. Your "best-value" electric rotor tool might be a Dremel, it just won't last a Dremel amount of time or have a Dremel warranty. Shop smart!
We make every part in our airbrushes right here in Norderstedt under one roof. If we have parts which fail QC, we recycle them with the same people who take all of our excess metal from our machining processes. The reconstituted metal bar that we buy back from our recycling partners only has the energy costs rather than the costs of the material itself, so we do not waste an ounce. Just speaking for ourselves, if we fail a part due to quality, we are failing it because we don't think it's good enough to end up in a customer's hands. We fail it because we don't think it's good enough for them, not because it's not good enough for us. So we definitely don't sell it to anyone else! It gets melted back into bar with our recycling partners, and comes right back to us for another attempt at making perfect parts :-)
I have to imagine it's the machining and materials. Cheaper airbrushes have looser specs and use cheaper material.
Thank you Brian - we really do our best!
When I started painting miniatures I used the airbrush that I got with my compressor. I almost gave up painting because the airbrush was always clogged, and I ended up breaking the nozzle when cleaning it up. Then I got an H&S airbrush, and all my problems went away! Their quality is not overrated.
missed opportunity to not show us the recycling process after showing us you helped make an airbrush! I have an evolution CRplus, which I am fairly comfortable with, should I get this one or wait for the squidmar infinity? The features sound useful, but maybe it's just imposter syndrome... I've been airbrushing for pretty much 2 years.
I would get the Evo or infinity if you have that experience :)
watch this space :-)
Just ordered the Ultra! Going to look for a few airbrush maintenance videos if you guys have any recommendations shout it out!🎉
We've got an old one if you serach for squidmar airbrush. Marco frisoni did a good one. (we're also working an an update one that will be out in 1-2 months :) )
Hey Stephanie :-) thanks so much for joining us! I recommend being as lazy as possible, and stripping your airbrush as little as you can. Just clean it up between colours, and you'll never have a big drama at the end of the session - check out the painting process video for the Ultra on the product page, and you'll see :-)
That was really cool! Thanks uncle!
“Tiny prison” 😂
Well I've had a badger 105 for a year and still only use it for priming and base coating. Alright it's a solid price I'll give it a purchase
Thanks so much!
Man, the H&S airbrush trigger is such a simple, genius bit of design
Well thank you ;-)
After this video I really wanted to have my own art. However, due to the price in my currency, this purchase will have to wait a few months. The positive thing is that I can continue to improve my brush painting skills.
thank you for considering us!
I missed out on the first one. But this one being aimed even more at beginners was to good for me to pass up!
Thanks so much for joining us!
Another great vid 👍 keep it up bro
I missed out on the last Airbrush, I just ordered your 2024 version however! Looking forward to trying it out.
I'm so sad! I literally just bought a new airbrush three weeks ago! I can't afford a third airbrush. But seriously in the future I will be upgrading to a Harder and Steinbeck airbrush just not this year.
Hey Tony - don't be sad! We'll be here for you when you're ready!
@@harderairbrush I plan on upgrading in a year or two. I've been enjoying airbrushing these past two years
really glad to hear that! @@JadeCatMinis
The Ultra looks cool, but I want to know more about the other two first.
I'll be back.
I want to work there so bad. Not only do I airbrush, but I also work with CNC machines (not so much the configuration side, but just a button pusher and quality control aspect).
Send them an email ;)
I just ordered the squidmar H&S❤
Question concerning the trigger: Does the trigger safety work both ways? I get that you cannot pull the trigger back unless you press down first, but does that also mean that the trigger will not be able to release once it is pressed complete FORWARD again?
No that's not quite correct. The trigger will close if you just release it BUT it will close the paint first and then the air. This is critical. The trigger is designed to promote perfect double action trigger technique. If you just release the trigger on a regular trigger, because the stroke of the airvalve plunger is much shorter than the needle, the air will shut first, followed by the paint. Typically this will result in a little blob of unsprayed paint to be pushed out to the tip of the needle, and it will sit there until the next time you push the trigger down and start the air, when it will represent itself as a delightful (not) spatter on your subject. Therefore, good double action trigger technique is always air on first and off last i.e. push down, pull back, push forward to stop, release. This trigger accomplishes this for you. However, please remember that we intend it to teach you GOOD technique, not use it to be lax in your technique. If you use it to be lax, then you'll have the problem describes above with regular airbrushes. And we don't intend to include this feature on our more advanced airbrushes, simply because this technique of creating spatter is USEFUL when you intend it, and so to create a trigger which makes it impossible for a mid to pro level painter would be depriving them of creative possibilities. To that end, there will also be a trigger available for the ULTRA 2024 as an aftermarket accessory which makes the trigger "free" again, so that you can explore creative options as per the above. Hope that helps to illuminate the reasons, benefits, and limitations!
@@harderairbrush Can you tell us more about the other options that will be available with the 2024 Ultra? I'm hesitant between buying it or waiting for the others until 2024.
@@harderairbrush Wow. Thanks for being so in depth! Some of this info should be in the video i think.
Hello buddy - I'm sorry - it's confusing right?! This IS the 2024 model :-) we decided that we would call it that, as 2023 is nearly over!!!@@issam.hakimi
@@harderairbrush thanks sorry for the confusion. My question was more about the accessories you plan to release for this new version of the Ultra. As example in your previous comment you mention a new trigger will be available. I am curious to know what others accessories/options you are planning.
It's great to see how they are made but EEK! €105 = AUS$173. Sadly I still can't afford that; especially when you add the compressor, cleaning kit, spray box, etc, etc to the price. Sigh. 😮💨😢
It was nice to see you guys having a great time producing that video😊
There is a joke in the old show The West Wing. A pill doesn't cost 1 penny. The SECOND pill costs 1 penny. The FIRST pill cost $1 billion.
Cheap products are often simply knock offs of some one elses work. Someone spent the money to pay for the engineering and product designs. Someone else just copied that. Even if a cheap knock off was EXACTLY the same as a more expensive product (which they almost never are), I will almost always choose the purchase the more expensive original product because I feel it is important to reward original ingenuity and design. You need to support those companies or else the knock offs wont' have anyone to copy.
I Really enjoyed your video, very well done! I have to say I've never personally been impressed with H&S airbrushes, I've used several different brands and models extensively in a professional capacity over the years and have always been partial to one airbrush in particular, the Iwata Eclipse HP-CS. In fact in 2012 I purchased an Infinity CRplus airbrush. A week or so into using it the stem of the airbrush broke loose and started rotating in the body. Their customer service was about as impressive, basically accusing me of mishandling the airbrush. That was just over 10 years ago. So, The company and their products and service may have changed since then. Again, thanks for the great content.
I have Silverline 2 in 1... The cleaning is sooo easy. I remember first time I worried when I did disassembly and assembly just for thepractice, and that was so easy, simple and precise.. I just recommend for everybody from beginners to experts.
That's awesome - thanks so much!
Fascinating how much of it is machined. I would have figured more parts would be stamped to save money.
Supposedly all the Japanese airbrush brands source their components from the same industrial pneumatic manufacturing company, Fuso-Seiki, that produced the old Olympos airbrushes and now owns the design patents. The airbrush companies have some variation in the components, assemble and fit the final product and sell it under their brand name; Iwata, Gunze, Tamiya etc. Fuso-Seiki also sells airbrushes directly under the old brand name Richpen. It would be interesting but unlikely to get a tour of their production facility.
I’ve just bought the black and gold squidmar evolution 2024 limited edition my first airbrush ever so hoping I can pick it up and send my art to the next step
"These two are the exact same" *Proceeds to make a whole video on why they are not the same*
so confusing.
I did a double take when he said a fuel air bomb. I was like wait which channel am I on lol.
we love that thing!
Love my limited squidmar edition, no.44.
ooooh nice!
Fascinating video and insights - it's why Ive used H&S for a number of years. The 2024 range take superb to the next level ✌️😊💜👍
While I find my H&D Ultra mechanics the smoothest, Iwata beats them out with cup design. And you pointed that out, the throat of a H&S is too small, Iwata funnel design is SUPER easy to clean.
H&S ultra😊
F you... My bank will be contacting you... 🤣🤣 But on the serious side, just love your videos, no matter the subject you just bring something "personal" in it and make it better. As someone who bought the first airbrush, it is really tempting to buy ultra for priming... Oh man...
What kind of compressor should a newbie get if they got this brush?
I would recommend a cheap single piston compressor. Maybe a FD186 or AS186. With or without tank works, with is slightly quieter generally. Make sure you can control the pressure. A big bonus if you got a moisture trap.
Thank you for the reply@@SquidmarMiniatures !
Glad you're releasing new brushes, love that collar on the trigger.
Does Harder & Steenbeck only make airbrushes for army painters? There's Harley's, Real Cars & Trucks, Canvas!
Thank you for this video and I hate you for this video. Now I am going to buy an H&S. (Ok, I don't hate you, I wanted one anyway.)
Bought the airbrush ;)
