I gotta say, the move to H&S has been a huge game changer for me. I don't hesitate to use it anymore when I sit down to paint. I wouldn't have pulled the trigger either since I already had an Iwata HP, but I took an airbrushing class at the Nova Open that used H&S brushes and was blown away by the difference.
You’re very welcome. And it’s still my go to airbrush in case you were worried I was one of those creators who shill a product then never use it again. 😜👍🏼
I bought one after watching this video and your priming video. Anything that reduces the executive functions and barriers to actually start painting I'll try! Can't wait to try it out!

Thanks for making this video. Cleaning my cheap and basic airbrush is definitely a pain, and that's a negative driver towards using it. Your breakdown and commentary on this new H&S brush just got them a sale (my order was placed before returning here to comment!). Keep up the great work!
Hmm, good question. I’m not a fan of cheap anything tbh as they often break quickly, don’t create enough pressure or are just inferior. Plus, you aren’t a beginner for very long so you’ll end up buying a new one meaning you’ll spend twice. My advice. Buy a good one and learn well. I found Sparmax to be a good shout. As long as it has a tank that refills while you’re spraying you should be good. It’ll look like two tanks on top of each other.
I have a H&S Evolution and at the beginning I was going crazy and thought that I will never use the airbrush. But with some time and practice I came to a point where a paint almost every model with the airbrush. I am reluctant to switch to a new airbrush as I got used to the Evolution....but the more I see this model in use, the more I am tempted to buy and try one.
If you’re already familiar with the evolution then this one should slide into your ecosystem with ease. But being honest, if you’re happy with the airbrush you have and can use it well, no new airbrush will make that much difference. 👍🏼 Always good to have a spare on hand though for when one needs a thorough cleaning.
Was pretty much ready to pull the trigger on an H&S Infinity CR+ to replace my Patriot, but after seeing this new Ultra I've got more thinking to do. Thanks for the info.
They’re both great choices. Infinity and this. I guess it depends what you’re planning to do. The needles and nozzles all work with both so yeah, thinking, thinking. I can’t sway you either way. I like both! 👍🏼
Excellent price point for the quality you've described. I nearly never bothered watching this vid, saying 'what's the point. I don't have £200+ for a new fancy airbrush' but I do have closer to £90 Been thinking about the Creos 289 for a few weeks now but this is a new contender I think. Cheers!
You’re welcome. On my channel I tend to focus on best for price, best for time or best for quality. I always try balance those 3 things. Sometimes paying a bit more gets a lot more. Sometimes it just doesn’t. 👍🏼
mine arrived today with the wrong threaded type cup in the box, so frustrating straight away! build quality is superb, i contacted Harder and steenbeck and a new cup was sent out very quickly great customer service!
Can I use revell enamel colors for this? I read that they can be harmful to airbrushes with rubber seals or O-rings and I was wondering if they are safe to use for this airbrush
Most airbrushes are designed for most paints. O-rings and stuff will wear no matter what you use. You’ll be fine. Airbrushes are pretty solid machines. To be honest you may have a better experience as revel thins nice and smooth. Just remember to use a good mask and a booth as spray enamels is toxic.
Click fix button was desastrous on the Infinity ,wrote the Harder Steenbeck support and they sent me a new one without the manufactured issued cuased the infinity click fix button to stuck,I after that had to put some rubber rings at the trigger so it would work and come back smoothly. I really would like to know, if this one new Harder steenbeck airbrush (Ultra airbrush) is the money worth and if they learned something from their mistakes.
Oh I can’t attest to that say. As I’ve never had any issues. I guess all I can say is find someone with one and try it first before you commit. Airbrushes are a bit like cars. Great when they work but no one has a clue when they break down. 🤣
yeah but in my case it wasnt a break down ,it was a failure of the company, they had manufactured it wrong and addmited, it had nothing to do with what I did ,they were atleast very honest about it and sent me the parts they designed working the right why , cost me nothing ,big ups to their support . @@thestateofplay2023
Got mine about 3 weeks ago, so far very pleased. Like the easy clean tip. The cheaper ones seem to clog more often. Do not take apart with cats near :)
my friends and i just got into using airbrushes this last year and we are constantly running into all these issues. I just sent them you video and will be ordering this brush. i hope they appreciate your endorsement, it will likely get them five new customers.
I’m right in thinking it has a preset max pressure of 30psi? Then I don’t see why it won’t work. You might need to grab a cheap hose connector valve to reduce pressure when needed like in my video but yeah, it should do the job.
Is the trigger more responsive than on the old Ultra which sometimes felt like on off? And how do you bought it on your own when its not released yet? Sadly it has the old ungrippy pan trigger
@@thestateofplay2023 I have the ultra while my brother has the evolution, and the evolution is much more.....detailed across the trigger. Hard to describe as a german. While my ultra is first 1/4 of the way nothing, then a small softspot and then "Open". I changed the trigger to the infinity one, because the triggerbutton of the ultra is to ungrippy for me. Dont get me wrong, the ultra is nice. I think the best starter pistol. I can do everything with it. Its sturdy, easy to clean, easy to disassemble. But it could be a bit more sensible. I will go for the ultra 24 and test it. I can send it back in two weeks, no problem, but i need a second pistol to switch faster and have one for drying. The evolution is a bit expensive for what it does. The only really thing which angers me on the ultra 1.0, the cup nozzle is to short. And they fixed it. Yes.
Hi I have ordered one as my first air brush. Could I ask what compressor would you recommend please? I don’t want to spend a fortune but I also don’t want to have to upgrade in 6 months time. Maybe up to £150 or so? Thanks
Ok, so a not too expensive compressor that’ll not need an upgrade for a good whole. Hmm. I’d probably suggest something like the Sparmax AC-501X. Shop around. You should be able to get one for u set £150. I think Element games and Artis Opus have some in there stores.
It’s only the brush that comes in the box. With 0.45 needle of course. As for chrome, at Gaaheris price point I can’t see it really being chrome. Chrome plating is every expensive. It may look chrome but I’d guess it’ll be a similar plating that will crack and peel off over time.
So i've been looking at airbrushes compressors etc. WHat isn't explained on any shop website or anywhere is how do i know whcih fitting or hose from the compressors will fit an airbrush? Are there different fittings? some compressor come with hoses so how would i know which hose will fit when most shops dont actually say which fitting the brushes use. Basically trying to find out exactly what to buy and whats compatible is a bit of a mystery for a uk shopper. I was looking at this brush with a sparmax compressor with a air tank. Actually the one in your link. What hose would i need to make these work together? cheers
If the compressor comes with a hose it’ll fit the compressor. For the brush you’ll need to check with the brand. You can’t help with cheaper brands as they could use almost anything but 1/8″BSP is the most common thread size in the airbrush world, which includes many Brands like Harder & Steenbeck, Iwata and Sparmax . Airbrush Brands like Aerograph, Aztek, Badger, Paasche have unique threads and often need connectors or adaptors to attach to hoses.
This is very effective reviewing, once again quite a deep dive to give clear detail on specifically how this airbrush innovates to make airbrushing easier in very practical ways, but it really doesn't feel like a deep dive. Watching it felt more like a chat over a mug of tea and that is solid gold presentation of meaty content. Like the laser cutter it's another high spend item, so to get the point across well enough that more folks will be moved to buy one and thus improve a key part of their hobby experience takes this sort of considered vid quality and I forsee a lot more stuff showing up to be reviewed Great work, gold star
You’re absolutely right. I now have a pile of stuff already I need to review. Most stuff I just say no, but there are a few things that piqued my interest. I like to look at stuff the way I think everyone else will. 👍🏼
Delighted that this airbrush is getting such good reviews. Saw the advertising spiel I while back and though oh lord another gimmick but ended up so impressed in what I was being shown that I took a chance preordered one. I wish this brush had been around when I first started. When they say you don’t need an expensive brush to start with they are right. This one is looking like a great entry price brush that will help teach you proper trigger technique. I broke the trigger on my 0.4 cheap Chinese brush which I use for the every day jobs & this is its replacement. Thanks for the informative review.
@@thestateofplay2023 lol, I still use my Grex, so that one may end up not getting used. My first one was an Iwata HP-CS and it went to the “drawer”. I hated that one. That is when I found the Grex and it kept me in airbrushing. Looked at H&S back then as well.
First of all, thank you for your videos! You really helped me getting started on aibrushes when i had given up on frustration. My Wife ordered me this airbrush, but i do not have the regulator for the pressure. Should i keep the psi on 30-35? I want to reduce the error margin to a minimum. Thank you again for your videos!
If you don’t have a way to regulate pressure on the airbrush I’d probably drop PSI to around 20-25. You’ll just need to be more precise about your paint thinning.
So I purchased an ultra, my first airbrush. I’m just starting so the compressor I have is an Iwata Ninjas jet. I don’t think the psi is more than 15psi… will I still be able to use it?
It only comes with a .45mm needle and nozzle set up. Can you get smaller needles for this like .3mm I can't seem to find any information on this even on there website ?? anyone have info on this?
i just upgraded to the infinity 2.0, still getting my head around it, think if id seen this video first, i might have tried this,, Well i made my expensive bed i need to lay in it haha, any advice for the infinity?
Advice for the infinity. Yes, keep it really clean. However clean you think, it’s not. 🤣 Big advice is to store it with both the needle and nozzle removed. I’ve got my nozzle stuck twice now “thinking” it was clean. Now I store nozzle out.
Hey there, really great video! If I can share with you one advice that helped me a lot stop ruining a lot of airbrushes is to always push out the needle in front for cleaning. The dried paint on the needle scratches the needle seal at the back every time slowly damaging it.
Yeah, I usually do but in the video I hadn’t used it yet. Also the new engineering on this thing moved the seals for beginners who pull back, so it’s not as much of an issue. They thought of everything!
After this review, I decided to prerder one but what do I need to connect it to my FD-186 compressor? Does it use the same connection as my cheap fengda and timbertech airbrushes?
I believe it should. The Ultra came with a quick connect already attached like you see in the video. But that just screws off the bottom. Carefully. But to be honest you’d be better buying a cheap quick connect for your existing hose. Amazon do them.👍🏼
Great vid. I'm really considering this as my new Airbrush. How fine are the fine lines? Is it worth getting a smaller needle .2-ish? And then what about the settings?
Thanks for sharing this, I have put off purchasing a H&S airbrush for sometime, I currently use my Iwata which is my work horse airbrush, but want to refine my airbrush skills for more precise painting.
Is it an Iwata Neo? If so this should be a step up. If you’ve got an HP or eclipse then this may make things easier but those are still very good brushes.
Oh ok. I like Badgers but their customer service and care for their community seems to have died over the last few years. Your mileage might vary but H&S are really good. Might take a while to get used to as they differ a bit.
The old ultra is still my daily driver airbrush and this one looks even better. I have the Kyiv Infinity series brush too, and while I love it, I mostly do priming and basecoating and the Ultra is fantastic for that. I only pull out the infinity when I want to do fine detail, although it could do everything I feel less nervous doing something dumb with the Ultra. I am actually tempted to try the new one, just because it is a neat design.
I've got a Badger 150, 105 pat and a Sotar 20/20. Pretty much only use the 105. If I was starting over I'd go H&S but these three do everything I need for now. Would like to test drive a H&S someday though. Tips, holes, all that. Cheers.
Just arrived in the mail, fingers crossed the wife is happy with it! Only lingering question I have is if you’ve found a way to reliably back flow with this brush? I can pinch with the Infinity & seen folks just cover the tip of the HP-CS.
I have an airbrush and compressor that i bought off amazon but only really use it for priming. i have the super crappy airbrush that came with it (fengda??) so its not up to much more than that. i was looking to upgrade to a better airbrush that i an actually learn and use properly. I was looking for something in the £100-£150 range like a Patriot-105 or Iwata Eclipse, however I saw a H&S Infinity CRplus (the 2 in 1 needle bundle) on sale for only £20 more than an Eclipse. But then saw the Ultra 2024 for less than half the price of that! This vid has put me in a real quandary, whether to have a blow out and buy the Infinity, an "investment for the future" or save a lot of money and get an airbrush that is designed to teach people how to use one!
If it helps, I’ve been airbrushing for about 16 years and have an infinity, evolution and Ultra 2024. I know what I’m doing but still find myself reaching for the Ultra because it’s just simple all round. I’m not gonna lie, it has its quirks, the trigger can be temperamental and it need an inline Mac valve for easier pressure reduction (you can do that on the compressor but I’m lazy). But being able to turn that collar, play with pressure and just spray without worrying makes things much quicker. And it cleans much quicker.
@@thestateofplay2023 my Ultra arrived today. It's a beautiful bit of kit. I used it straight out of the box as H&S recommended. However I found very quickly the nozzle/needle guard needed unscrewing and re-tightening. On the first test spray it backwashed the paint out of the cup and went everywhere!! I encountered the same problem with the trigger but that was because some paint managed to get back there somehow. I had to strip it down and clean the whole thing but it worked like a charm after that. I'll chalk it up to user error. What impressed me is how thin you can get lines with it, thinner than a pen line. And that's with a 0.45mm needle. I'll definitely be investing in an inline controller as I too am lazy.
Yeah I never understood why they say use it out the box. Almost everyone I spoke to had to strip and clean it after. Maybe that’s why. To force everyone to strip and clean….🤣🤣
Great review! Still waiting for mine to arrive and I'm super excited to enter the airbrush world with such an amazing beginner friendly tool. One thing I would have liked to see in the video is how to do the bubbleback method with that kind of nozzle. I'm a little afraid to block the airflow with just my hand, I wouldn't want to accidentally touch the needle tip and damage it, is there any clever thing you can use?
You can block the whole end with a pen top. However I don’t recommend blowback. I know loads of people do it but it pushes paint the wrong way in your airbrush. Giving rise to harder cleaning and more problems with internal seals down the line. That’s the bit creators never tell you. Because they can just get a new airbrush. Usually for free. 👍🏼
@@thestateofplay2023 I see thanks for the clarification! I guess for starters I'll just stick with the pulse method cleaning that also Warrick shows in the presentation video. Cheers!
@@thestateofplay2023what I mean is when you press the trigger and pull it back, it doesn't start immediately to spray paint, you need to pull it back until a spot which unfortunately it's not the same every time, its a bit loose. I have tried two infinity and three regular ultra, all have the same issue with the trigger. With an iwata when you pull back the tiniest amount, it starts immediately.
I found that on my Evolution when I first started. Turns out I wasn’t seating the needle correctly. And the infinity allows you to adjust all that with all the knobs and screws it has. Too many if you ask me. These things might help. I’ll have to try another airbrush to see the difference but I take your word for it.
Looking to get my first airbrush to start learning, this video is really great and insightful! As a complete beginner this might sound like a noob question, but does this airbrush come with a compressor? If not, is there an entry level compressor for a similar price point that would work with this airbrush? I am not opposed to buying the one they suggest on their website, just hoping to find a more budget-friendly option that would work with this airbrush so that I can also afford some paints for it. Thank you so much for this video, just recently discovered your channel and I am binge-watching all of your videos! Happy holidays from Texas!! ✨️
All airbrush compressors will work with all airbrushes. You just need the correct hose connection and the right “thin-ness” of paint for whatever max pressure the compressor uses. Get whatever you can afford that has a tank, has adjustable pressure up to at least 30PSI. This will mean that it can fill itself while spraying and is enough “push” to get out paint of your not an expert at thinning yet. 👍🏼
So I don't understand this I recently purchased the Evolution 2024 CRplus which is the more expensive airbrush. Why didn't they include labeled positions on the CRplus like they did on the Ultra.
The ultra is supposed to be a beginner brush. The evolution is designed for those who know how far to pull back the trigger already. But I know what you mean. It’s such a useful ability to have on an airbrush.
Great video, great channel. I catched up on all videos. Do you have some recommendations on Necromunda 3D prints / STL that cost money? It is so diffcult to decide which set is worth it.
I've had a couple of ideas recently that needed an airbrush to make work, but haven't been able to get my two cheap ones to comply. This looks like it might solve all of that! Great review.
I ordered the one with the squidmar-design and after your video I am even more hyped for when the package arrives later this month. The „designed for beginners“-features made me order ☺️ And you are right @harderairbrush produces great „no bullshit“-tutorials.
I have the old HS Ultra with the .4 and .2 needles. Excellent airbrush so I'm sure this newer version will be fantastic. If your unsure on what to go with, now you know
Is the trigger a one piece slot in, no fiddles or faffing with trying to slot in a tiny column which has an elbow joint and a tiny baffle plate? If it’s a yes I’m getting one. Today. 👍👍
It’s basically a trigger on a stick with a ball at the bottom and a curved hinge. It just drops into the hole and then all the parts just screw together.

Is there a general guide on which PSI to use?
Not really because it depends on the thickness of the paint your using and the size of the needle. You just have to experiment.

Would it work for model cars?
Yeah, I don’t see why not.
Great vid! Just to be sure, you are priming straight with acrylic using the airbrush, not with a "proper" primer?? Thanks!
Molotow one4all acrylic. Which as a graffiti paint sticks well
What compressor would you recommend for a beginner to go with the ultra?
Hmm, good question. I’m not a fan of cheap anything tbh as they often break quickly, don’t create enough pressure or are just inferior. Plus, you aren’t a beginner for very long so you’ll end up buying a new one meaning you’ll spend twice.
My advice. Buy a good one and learn well. I found Sparmax to be a good shout. As long as it has a tank that refills while you’re spraying you should be good. It’ll look like two tanks on top of each other.
When you mix the ink with the varnish how much of each do you use? Do you add any thinner to?
I just eyeball it. As both will spray without thinner easily I just stick 50/50 or so. But more or less won’t really matter.
I'm waiting for mine to be delivered.
REALLY looking forward to it and to compare it to my Iwata HP-CS.

You’re welcome. On my channel I tend to focus on best for price, best for time or best for quality. I always try balance those 3 things. Sometimes paying a bit more gets a lot more. Sometimes it just doesn’t. 👍🏼
@@thestateofplay2023 True. Very true! :)
mine arrived today with the wrong threaded type cup in the box, so frustrating straight away! build quality is superb, i contacted Harder and steenbeck and a new cup was sent out very quickly great customer service!
Oh wow! That’s a mistake and half!!
Excellent Video! A heart for minipainting airbrushers!!
Thanks!! ❤️
Got mine about 3 weeks ago, so far very pleased.
Like the easy clean tip.
The cheaper ones seem to clog more often.
Do not take apart with cats near :)
As they say, “buy cheap, buy twice”. 🤣
I ordered the Squidmar plated one, I think it's actually arriving today! Can't wait to use it!!
I like Squidmar but not sure I wanted to pay more for a decal. 🤣
my friends and i just got into using airbrushes this last year and we are constantly running into all these issues. I just sent them you video and will be ordering this brush. i hope they appreciate your endorsement, it will likely get them five new customers.
Thanks! Yes, they did actually contact me and say thank you. Not many brands would do that. 👍🏼
My only compressor is the Sparmax DC-25XT. Do you think I will have fun with this airbrush compressor combination?
I’m right in thinking it has a preset max pressure of 30psi? Then I don’t see why it won’t work. You might need to grab a cheap hose connector valve to reduce pressure when needed like in my video but yeah, it should do the job.
THis review makes the decision to add this to the 'next big hobby upgrade' list pretty easy.
Luckily it’s nearly Christmas!
Thanks for confirming my decision to pull the trigger on the Squidmar version of the H&S Ultra, as an upgrade from my Amazon starter airbrush.
Good choice. Sadly there’s no State of Play ultra. 🤣🤣🤣
@@thestateofplay2023 you'll get there.
Is the trigger more responsive than on the old Ultra which sometimes felt like on off? And how do you bought it on your own when its not released yet? Sadly it has the old ungrippy pan trigger
I never used the old Ultra. This one was a bit stiff when I first opened it but a bit of lube solved that.
Thank you for the quick response. I will check it out.
Thank you very much for this video ! Are Molotov paint good primer for miniature ? Are you using Molotov paint for your gaming miniature ?
I am yes. Molotow paints are for graffiti, so designed for all surfaces, indoor and outdoor, making them great for primer.
Great review/analysis with no technical-speak, thanks
Yeah I found technical speak just annoys me. 🤣 I guess a “teachers” job should be to inform easily. 👍🏼
This looks very good indeed... I just bought a regular ultra a couple of months ago, but I think I new what I gone ask to Santa...
Get in quick. I have a habit of causing “out of stock” on this channel. 🤣🤣
HAHA. The innuendo is inevitable. Tips, screws, collars, holes, wet and on it goes... Great video. Thankyou ;)
Yeah it’s this entire hobby! Innuendo everywhere! 🤣🤣
What PSI are you running it at?
30-35. In my previous video I explain why. The video with the big EASY thumbnail.
Thank you for the detailed, practical review. I think this, more than any other video I've seen, has convinced me I should get one of these.
Not a problem! Glad it helped
I just bought it today and this video as well as a few others confirmed to me that it was a good purchase...Cheers from Canada.....new sub!
Enjoy your new airbrush!
I love it. Question: Why is the cup not highly polished chrome like the Gaahleri brushes? Also what comes in the box besides the brush??? Thanks
It’s only the brush that comes in the box. With 0.45 needle of course. As for chrome, at Gaaheris price point I can’t see it really being chrome. Chrome plating is every expensive. It may look chrome but I’d guess it’ll be a similar plating that will crack and peel off over time.
Interesting! Was that Molotow Marker Refills you were using?
Yes, Molotow acrylic one4all. Great stuff!
@@thestateofplay2023 Nice, that never crossed my mind & have a bunch of that stuff laying about!
Keep up the great videos. You have an excellent take on our hobby and appreciate how you always bring things back to the user.
Thank you Paul. Really nice thing to say.
Like the laser cutter it's another high spend item, so to get the point across well enough that more folks will be moved to buy one and thus improve a key part of their hobby experience takes this sort of considered vid quality and I forsee a lot more stuff showing up to be reviewed
Great work, gold star
Thanks for watching Helen! Yeah I admit to really loving this brush. Something I never thought I’d say after years of annoying frustrations!
Hey I want to order H&S airbrush and apparently I can have infinity and ultra 2024 in same price so which one I should buy?
Oh man, that’s a hard question. Hmm, if you have a lot of experience with airbrushes, get Infinity. If you’re starting out, get Ultra 2024.
Bought it on this recomendation and glad I did. Allowed me to paint my knight army quicly !
Phew! I read that at first expecting bad news towards the end. 😜 Glad that wasn’t the case!
This does look like a great airbrush. I picked up the H&S Kyiv and love it, I might have to pick up one of these when I can.
Be careful though. You might stop using the other one! 😜
@@thestateofplay2023 Thanks for the reply!
Great work!
Thanks!
So I purchased an ultra, my first airbrush. I’m just starting so the compressor I have is an Iwata Ninjas jet. I don’t think the psi is more than 15psi… will I still be able to use it?
I’m not sure to be honest. 15psi is quite low, I’d generally recommend not going below 20-25. You might just end up with spatter or clogs.
@@thestateofplay2023 Thank you so very much. I enjoy the content, honest, and helpful on numerous levels.
It only comes with a .45mm needle and nozzle set up. Can you get smaller needles for this like .3mm I can't seem to find any information on this even on there website ?? anyone have info on this?
All the H&S needles and nozzles for infinity, evolution and ultra are interchangeable. 👍🏼
I got me 1. I wanted to buy Evo2024 but i havent used airbrush for +20y and i think it would be overkill for my current skill.
I’ve never agreed that there are beginner airbrushes and advanced airbrushes. There’s only airbrushes that work for you, and ones that don’t. 👍🏼
i just upgraded to the infinity 2.0, still getting my head around it, think if id seen this video first, i might have tried this,, Well i made my expensive bed i need to lay in it haha, any advice for the infinity?
Advice for the infinity. Yes, keep it really clean. However clean you think, it’s not. 🤣
Big advice is to store it with both the needle and nozzle removed. I’ve got my nozzle stuck twice now “thinking” it was clean. Now I store nozzle out.
@@thestateofplay2023 thanks for that I’ll definitely do that!
Very nice design features
Indeed
Hey there, really great video! If I can share with you one advice that helped me a lot stop ruining a lot of airbrushes is to always push out the needle in front for cleaning. The dried paint on the needle scratches the needle seal at the back every time slowly damaging it.
Yeah, I usually do but in the video I hadn’t used it yet. Also the new engineering on this thing moved the seals for beginners who pull back, so it’s not as much of an issue. They thought of everything!
@@thestateofplay2023 wow thats good news
After this review, I decided to prerder one but what do I need to connect it to my FD-186 compressor? Does it use the same connection as my cheap fengda and timbertech airbrushes?
I believe it should. The Ultra came with a quick connect already attached like you see in the video. But that just screws off the bottom. Carefully. But to be honest you’d be better buying a cheap quick connect for your existing hose. Amazon do them.👍🏼
ty for the review it's very helpfull
You’re welcome!
Great vid. I'm really considering this as my new Airbrush. How fine are the fine lines? Is it worth getting a smaller needle .2-ish? And then what about the settings?
It appears all the needles and nozzles will fit. As for settings…but that’s a hard one as it effectively comes down to personal preferences.
Great video!!!
Good review.
And yeah, Warwick does seem to try to aid us modellers.
He does indeed! A very nice guy.
what is the needle size on this thing?
It’s 0.45. But works with any other H&S needle set you might have.
@@thestateofplay2023don't have any, for now I'm using Badgers, but I was looking for something different
Oh ok. I like Badgers but their customer service and care for their community seems to have died over the last few years. Your mileage might vary but H&S are really good. Might take a while to get used to as they differ a bit.
@@thestateofplay2023I don't use mine to much because I dread cleaning it... so I do not have many habits to loose :)
I’m so lazy I have different brushes with different needle sizes. So I can grab the one I want. But this new one really changed my view.
@@thestateofplay2023 I do the same, my Ultra has the larger needle (.5 I think?) and the Infinity has the super fine .2 I believe.
I've got a Badger 150, 105 pat and a Sotar 20/20. Pretty much only use the 105. If I was starting over I'd go H&S but these three do everything I need for now. Would like to test drive a H&S someday though. Tips, holes, all that. Cheers.
🤣🤣 I like your style.
Got one new, waiting to come out. Learning brush washes first.
Cool! Always here if you need anything!
@@thestateofplay2023 Awesome! Thank you. It's sitting on the shelf in shop. Can't wait to get things up and running. :)
Just arrived in the mail, fingers crossed the wife is happy with it!
Only lingering question I have is if you’ve found a way to reliably back flow with this brush? I can pinch with the Infinity & seen folks just cover the tip of the HP-CS.
I never backflow. I mix my paint outside the brush so I can see it.
But if you REALLY wanted to do it. Find a pen top that covers the entire tip.
Never had any luck with the mac valve none of my H&S brushes like it. All seem to suffer the stuck down trigger
They work on my infinity and evolution quite well, but the New Ultra.....it's like getting fat whilst wearing a ring - stuck.😂
Keep up the great job!!! Excellent review and definitely will be looking at them for my first airbrush purchase!!
Cool! thanks!
Excellent video
Thank Mike!
Cheers!
Got one on the way.
Enjoy!!
Good recommendation! Im loving your content.
Thank you!
Just when I thought I knew what I wanted to ask for for Christmas.
Write the letter to Santa. Put everything you want on it. At least one will turn up! 🤣
Nice video! Is there a way to put the brush together _without_ the collar? As in, at some point one should be developing trigger control, right?
Correct. Just turn the collar to full manual control. And it’ll work as normal.
1st time watching your channel great presentation straight to the various points
Thanks Chris!
I just want to know if the trigger sensibility has been finally fixed... That's the only complain i have shit h&s airbrushes.
I can’t say as I’ve never used other airbrushes. I’ve never found an issue though. Good bit io lube on it works wonders. 👍🏼
Yes, The Dragons Rest stl files. I think I talk about them in the “10+ budget busting options” video near the end. I love the way that set looks
Fantastic video thank you
Thanks!!
I've had a couple of ideas recently that needed an airbrush to make work, but haven't been able to get my two cheap ones to comply. This looks like it might solve all of that! Great review.
But cheap, buy twice. What my gran always used to say. Right before buying the cheapest sweets in the shop.🤣
I ordered the one with the squidmar-design and after your video I am even more hyped for when the package arrives later this month. The „designed for beginners“-features made me order ☺️ And you are right @harderairbrush produces great „no bullshit“-tutorials.
Totally!! I hope you enjoy it!!
I have the old HS Ultra with the .4 and .2 needles. Excellent airbrush so I'm sure this newer version will be fantastic. If your unsure on what to go with, now you know
Awesome! I never used the old Ultra so thanks for this.
That trigger column is genius.
It’s also a life saver to not splat too much paint. 🤣
@@thestateofplay2023perfect, thank you. My order is going in. 😊👍
