1998 Mazda B2500 Review // Why Mazda, Why?

In this video, I review a 1998 Mazda B2500. It's a great little pickup, but doesn't have much to it. Being produced with Ford didn't help it's identity crisis either. Let me know what you guys think of these Mazda trucks!

250,000 miles on my 2000 Mazda B3000 5speed 2wd that I bought almost 14 years ago and she's still kicking!
Mine's the base base model (winder windows and no A/C).
It's the definition of a "get's the job done" vehicle.. because it doesn't do anything extra.
I just bought a good used 98 B2500 extra cab 2wd 5spd 319,000 for $2600 & replaced timing belt,water pump,thermostat,8 plugs & wires,it has beautiful 15’s on it w/a 3inch lift & somebody put dual Flow Masters mufflers w/chrome tips,I absolutely love this truck❤️🤙
I got same one with 469,000 on it I just replaced the Timin belt😂
Got a b2500 going on over 500,000kms and still going strong. Truck is built tough as fuck. She goes strong with no signs of slowing down.
The whining is not coming from the truck
Oh little girl you are going hard with the truck, but the truck is way harder than you. My B2500 98 is going strong til this day, love it.

I like actually like the carpet look on the back and on the door panels!
As someone who has recently purchased a 99 Ford Ranger XLT 3.0L with the 5spd 2wd I feel some of these issues ya had me cracking up going over some of this. I had same problem with the shift knob I tapped the inner hole on the shift handle to m10x1.25 chopped the head off a matching bolt hit it with some blue loctite and teflon tape for good measure on the half of the bolt going in to the handle then let it set for 24 hours. Ended up using the shift knob from my recently totaled 2007 Mazda 3 fit perfect and did the job til my new shift knob I ordered arrived from VMS racing. That stain on the interior of the roof is probably leaking from the cargo light I seal mine up with black caulk as that's what I had available also did the rubber trim around the rear window then smoothed it out wasn't perfect but fixed the problem which was the same as yours from the looks of it. If you keep the truck and need useful info Ford Ranger Nation on Facebook has a wealth of knowledge on known issues even though it's a Mazda (Ranger lol). Hope some of this helps and damn fun review of this truck.

@@MsVtec I've had quite the time with mine so definitely wanted to pass the knowledge on. Figured worse comes to worse gut it and turn it into a track truck with an engine swap of course with either a Super charger or turbo.

Black gets hot, a fancier interior is more expensive,shows dirt easer & cost more!

i have a 1998 mazda b2500 automatic and its not a bad little truck.
I just bought a 98 B2500 xtra cab 5spd,my wife hates changing gears,u wanna swap? I got cold air,stereo,perfect doors & dash,biggest 15’s it could hold w/3in lift & not 4wh drive,u wanna maybe trade?
I’m looking at buying one if these as a temp until I can get a Maverick on order.

I have the same damn truck...Black, ext. cab , tan interior, shitty suspension....but, 390k miles! It won't die.
The rx7 was one of the best cars Mazda made
The tailgate dont weigh shit and btw I own a 98 b2500 2.5 and it’s one of the fastest b2500/ranger around here

The Mazda and Ranger share a lot of the same parts but whole front clip and beds are different. That goes also for the 94-97 years. The Mazda to me is just a better looking truck.
To me power windows are stupid especially when they stop working I rather have manual

I think you have a personality that can work on UA-cam. Young, fresh, personable and you seem to have some knowledge of what you talk about. I would like to see you succeed. Having said that, many people are put off with negative; thoughts, actions, attitudes. IF you had do overs on this reviews could you have said the same things in a way that carry’s the point without the attack? I’m a former Park Ranger and had to sometimes present uncomfortable topics in a manner that provoked thoughtful reflection, be somewhat entertaining and not attack one prospective even if I personally thought it was bad. The idea being appealing to a greater audience to build upon.

Not sure if this is a parody or if you just have some unreasonable hate towards mazda b series trucks or just mazda overall. Lots of the complaints are things that are generally done in all trucks and vehicles overall but you kept pinning those things on mazda. Over all was more of an annoyance because it was just like listening to a stan bash any car that isnt their own personal favorite. Was more cringe than than comical if this was meant as parody. Also mazda wasnt using ford as a crutch the way you keep presenting the co-op between them nor did they fail after ford "abandoned" mazda in the truck category they make the mazda b50 but like I said you have very shortsighted, Stan like, veiws. Also doesnt make sense how you repeatedly say its exactly a ford ranger with a Mazda badge but somehow the ford ranger is much better? Makes you come off as extremely biased towards ford. I could go on but this comment is already too long and dont want it to come across as an attack on you but instead more of a review of this video, your presentation, and actual knowledge on the subject.

You are wrong Mazda went back making trucks ever looked at their new trucks for 2024 they still look like Ford rangers just added features on it I like the older Mazdas I know they look like Ford rangers but I don't care what you say I want to get me one besides true drivers drive a stick go ahead talk to crap reviews with Mazda's track I like your truck I don't care to baisley Ford rangers I don't care I'll try to get me one with a 2.2 l 5-speed manual transmission whatever I can find.

I did do my research before making this video. Ford did help Mazda manufacture these trucks, Mazda didn't have the idea on their own. Know your stuff before you comment 😊

Of course it looks like the ford ranger, the ranger is developed in the mazda factory in Thailand. The ranger was literally built by mazda. Do your research.

Franchement ,je possède un de ces pickup Mazda identique a celui là .D'abord,la version 2,500 cm3 Turbo diesel fait 109 CV et franchement ,moi j'ensuis très content . Je l'ai acheté a 166.000 km ,il en a 25.000 de plus et fonctionne a merveille . Je me demande pourquoi cette jeune pimbêche crie autant après cette voiture! 🤮
