    For All Mankind Season 2 picks up in 1983 as Cold War tensions between the United States and the USSR are at their peak. While the Americans and Soviets go head to head over control of the moon's resources, efforts to militarize NASA threaten to overshadow the greater ambitions of the space program and pose the risk of nuclear war.

      @cgsec2275 3 місяці тому +7

      Incorrect. This would be very standard in any police or military. You do not wait until the last second when your life is on the line. And everyone should know if someone is pointing a gun at you and giving orders to do something else, you do not reach into your pocket or a box, or you will get shot. This should be obvious. The only unrealistic thing is how dumb the astronauts who got shot were. They could have pointed at the box instead to indicate they wanted to use it to communicate and then raised their hands to communicate they had no violent intentions or were carrying weapons. That would have been the smart thing to do.

      They did have the tactical advantage, but letting them reach for a potential gun would mean at least one astronaut getting shot before the cosmonauts were neutralized. "Hands up" is not a suggestion, it's an order. Language isn't even a factor, it's just common sense, specially for trained people like them. If someone has you at gunpoint, don't move.

      The Eagle spacesuit was a lunar spacesuit, but due to the soft construction there were problems of use in space, but in the series, the USSR apparently was able to modify the Eagle by eliminating the disadvantages

      No reason it wouldn't work. Modern firearms would function in space no problem--the issue is the metal components potentially cold-welding with one another, and polymer materials melting in the sunlight or off-gassing otherwise.

      @@chihigonazono, most modern ammunition is sealed with an oxidizer. In water as long as it is sub sonic it won't break up and work more or less fine. With the resistance of the water some handguns may not cycle properly. In space however there wouldn't be that same resistance. So guns would both fire and cycle in space.

    Vamos lá, primeiramente, o calor demora demais no para chegar em outro objeto, demoraria 40 segundos, e ele não pegaria fogo ele derreteria, o sangue dele começaria a flutuar, e ele até poderia ouvir no espaço mas o som viria pelo o objeto, ou seja tem som no espaço, mas se propagaga pelos os objetos, então a arma teria que ter feito som de disparo.

    M16 and a 203 in space? Yeah. I don’t think they would work. Combustion requires oxygen. And the rounds would lose velocity incredibly quick without atmosphere. The only plausible thing I can see is some kind of pressurized bolt gun with propellant. Something of that nature. But .223 rounds unless you’re 3 ft away. Nope

    • @negorbat
      @negorbat 3 місяці тому +2

      oxygen in the case is enough for combustion (only one problem may be there if the case lose tightness, but i don't think it's a big deal for seal it)
      the atmosphere is an obstacle to the flight of a bullet (watch the video of how a bullet moves under water, the atmosphere is the same water but less dense)
      in space it will fly forever until it falls into the gravitational field of some object

      Tell me you know nothing about modern ammunition without telling me. Modern cartridges are not only sealed by the bullet, but the powder contains oxidizer. They will, in fact, function in a vacuum. The real issue is the metal components of the gun cold-welding without some additional dry lubrication. It would even be possible to make a *flamethrower* if you had a self-oxidizing fuel like Hydrazine. Basic rocketry principles.
