March 28 2024.....Today we found Your video for our Youngest child. We found a Push2 at a pawn shop 2 weeks ago. YOU are a Angel 😇 sent to us ...because our child just gave up on it. What Proud Parents You must have....Please Never delete this.....and We Proudly Subscribe to YOU.... a Wonderful Unselfish UA-camr. ❤
This is the best intro tutorial that I've found so far. No rushing or skipping crucial points or showing off and bragging. Excellent! Please make more. Don't worry about how long they are; I would have gladly watched this vid if it was 3x the length. I'm subscribing buddy!
Its very nice and well explained. I just wish the pads were made a lot bigger (I do a bit of finger drumming) like the MK2 or even MK3 but its a great video and nice unit.
Agreed, I would like to know if there is a way to turn off the auto loop my drummer is a very skilled one and doesn't want to do the loops, but since the pads are so small if he accidentally gets into another pad not lit up it stops the recording. We obviously just started using Push and were into the Maschine pads as well.
Derin, some people live to make other's lives miserable, even if it's just by clicking a dislike button. It's worse than being a troll. Thankfully, the number of people out there that actually appreciate videos like this one FAR outnumber the sad souls in this world that waste their life away for no reason.
Finally a clear introductory video. Many thx for that! I ve got the push, just starting with production. And sometimes, you just sit there with no idea what to do, or you get lost by testing things, not knowing anymore where you are after 2minutes. This is a clear methodical approach. Eager to get a go at it again tonight. Keep the tutorials going!
I bought my Push one and then exchanged it for the Push 2 when it came out. I've seen several other videos by other teachers - The reason this is the best tutorial for me is that my brain works linearly. This video progresses sequentially step by step. Most other videos show the different features of the Push 2 in a scattered way to mostly demonstrate its capabilities leaving me confused about when to apply the features. You gave me hope... Thank you.😃
THANK YOUUUUU!!! I've been taking some beginner's online courses for Push, and every time I do so, I want to rip my hair out due to the fact the many educators, and of all calibers, often seem to skip over crucial basic information, and or don't piece the puzzle together in a fluid way. Thank you for piecing this together in a cohesive and comprehensive way along with sharing the fundamentals! For the first time in a long time, I'm excited! I've been intimidated by my Push for far too long. Finally putting this $800 to use!
OMG, this is great. I loved how well and clear you explain the basics for using Push 2. I've been looking for a tutorial just like this one and this exactly the one I needed to watch. Thank you for this!
You are a wonderful musician and a superb educator! I am so grateful. I got this thing 2 days ago and watching Ableton's first lesson on their channel, I felt like an analphabet person watching a video on " how to write an academic essay"! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this to those of us who have no idea! They say that the real description of wealth is " how many lives you have been able to touch" . In that sense you surely are a very rich man. Thanks again!
Gosh... i bought this thing two years ago and during down time tried to find tutorials on You Tube to help me get started and none helped. I couldn't even make a basic loop. Most videos they skip the most fundamental step as I am finding them here. Finally will be able to put this thing to use. Thanks for making this. I will be looking at your other videos too
Thank you! Finally someone who explains this thing from the beginning! I'm on the fence deciding if I want to add this tool to my set up and this video was very inspiring.
Thank you for communicating and articulating so well. And the way you regularly went back to remind us and summarize what we just learned was excellent. Many of the other ableton tutorials for beginners are incomprehensible. Your method of teaching is excellent. Thank you for keeping Ableton and Push and making music digitally , in my future. Great job.
wanted to add, what made your video the best is....before you pushed a button you explained what was going to happen. That's how you teach. most of these other Push instructors assume so they push buttons without explaining what they're doing. so again thank you for that. Continued success to you. AND ABOVE ALL. please create more videos.
Hey Darryl, I really appreciate your feedback... it's always great to get an outside perspective on what you do, so thanks for that... and as for new content, I am in the middle of creating a course rhythm and finger drumming specifically for PUSH 2... hope for it to be available in a couple of months, so watch this space! All the best for now, P4L
thanks for kicking the basics, and a nice bit of theory infusion :) I learned more from half of this video than from all of the formal Ableton ones for push 2
+Auxend Totally agree with you. I'm joining to him to say thank you. Everything look clear you go to the essential and the time to explaining well with the music theory in plus it's just perfect. Something very hard to find normally. Keep going like this :) and thank you again.
agnosdik I am really glad you enjoyed the video! Nice to know there are people like you who not only learn something from it but take the time to write such lovely thoughtful comments :) Thanks a lot ;)
Whow I am so motivated. I searched for good tutorials. All where sh.....t. But this here is absolutely the best. I am a total beginner in Push 2. After your explanation I got my first track. Well a bit wire, but it is the first one via Push 2. Big thank you. I am so exited, that I will search for more tutorials from you. Big thank you.
Amazing tutorial for beginners... and not so beginners. The best I've found. Very concise and practical... Now moving on to your next course Well done!
After ordering my push 2 and not being totally confident I could use the thing when it gets here. I watched this video and now my mind is at ease, I look forward to its arrival.
thank u so much for this video. U are a very good teacher. I was clueless about how to use the push half an hour ago. now i kinda have an idea. All thanks to u :)
+PUSH4LIFE. This video is extremely helpful...I've used Reason, Mpc Studio Black, Maschine. For my skillset and workflow Push 2 seems to give me a bit of each of these....... I'm learning about the unit so I can hit the ground running. One question though, what kinds of files does Ableton support and what version software ie; Suite, Intro, Standard etc comes with Push 2?

Peace, I've seen a lot of videos on how to use push 2 and all of them suck, Why? It's my opinion that individuals seem to show off on how fast they can use push 2, for example: They talk to fast, move through parameters to fast, never show clearly on what buttons to press, never zoom in on areas that are being explained, most already have a beat preload and keep playing the beat over and over when not necessarily need, etc. You my friend, you took your time and explained everything very well and I appreciate that! It does not matter to me how long the video is, as long as I'm learning, that's all that matters... I really like your style of teaching! Continue to build and add on... Peace!

Lol same. I literally played with that layout for like an hour and couldn't figure out the trick. I still find that layout to be very alien. Also I find it's hard to translate any piano knowledge. (chords etc) Any good tricks for me?
Massive! Thank You! Agreed with one of the comments below about how i have learned more then the actual Ableton tutorials!! This starts at the very bottom and teaches you the basics. Big Help!! Please please please keep them coming!!! Thank You
Same! I've been looking at it for months thinking I might go back to Sonar cakewalk at some point making this thing useless but after watching this I will never leave Ableton.

Oh man, God bless you!!! You have helped me so much! I have not found another video that appeals to the very beginner so much as yours and I can not express how grateful I am for your videos, thank you!! You are a great teacher
Thank you, this video helped me out so much and was my next step to learning the basics of the Push 2. So many of the tutorials make too many assumptions that the user already has the basic understanding of this device. I feel that now I can finally move on to a more advanced tutorial. Thanks again for your time and for your very thorough explanation technique.

Yo!!! Dude, the was one of the BEST beginner Push2 video EVER!!! And trust me... I've damn near seen 'em all! Whoever disliked it is a certified moron!! Great Job!!! I was able to just follow along right with you, bro THANKS!!
Thank you so much. Your 6 part beginners tutorial are a most for those starting using Push. By the way, I am using Push 1. I learned right away because of the way you show Push on the screen and because you go back and fort to Live. I know nothing about reading music, but I can push buttons. Amazing job. I am also a subscriber.
PUSH4LIFE Deal. No really, you helped me out a lot yesterday with this video. I've seen many for beginners but all of them are either for newcomers to push or new to live. I'm newbie in both and with the mind shaped by Cubase and those traditional daw. Live is so confusing for guys like me at first. (Still is for me actually)
Wow! This was incredibly helpful becuse I was getting stuck on this entire process. Now I can actually start making tracks. Thank you for making g and sharing this tutorial.
@PUSH4LIFE I just got my Push 2 working(updates etc) and I learned quite a bit watching your video! I will be sure watch your other videos because you rock! Thanks!!
Glad I could help Gary! You might want to check out my new Series "Making Music With Ease on Ableton PUSH 2" that I will be releasing in June 2017. It goes way more in depth on these topics ;)
bro, u made it so clear, trust me, thank you very much. Not easy to make those stuffs operational and tailored to the way our brain works in creation time. Thanks. I am still fighting to feel completely free.
Great Video. I started with the official videos on Ableton's web site and did not really understand what was happening. Your video made it very clear. I shall be watching more of your content.
Very good video. I am considering getting this device. Reminds me a little of garage band on my Ipad with all the scales and the looping. Which version of ableton live software do you recommend to get that will also come with many of the good sounds to load into it? This might sound like a stupid question but Is there any kind of Guitar interfacing through this device to pick up some of the effect sounds to play off the guitar into the software?
Hi Clyde, thanks for the compliments ;) I use the full blown ableton 9 suite which I love... I am not sure what comes with the other versions so best check the ableton website for infos on that... as far as plugging in a guitar, that isn't possible... but you can plug it into your soundcard if you have one with inputs and then manipulate the sounds from the PUSH if you want.... hope that helps!
Really a great video! Concise and well explained, and you reviewed each of the points you covered at the end. Well done and very useful. I've had the Push for just a little while and still learned some really important points from the video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this video needed this bad there’s a lot of tutorials but a lot of them are for advanced users finally something for beginners appreciate this
Thank you so much for taking your time to help us enjoy our time! You truly explain things in a comprehensive structure; building on the steps and review where we have got to along the way. Thank you.
Thank you so much i have had my push since this christmas, failed to use it correctly much at all for a while, but with this video you helped so much. Thanks!!!!!
Thanks P4L I just bought a Push 2 and this is an excellent intro and a fast start - really inspired I'm off to create my first song! looking forward to more from you.
Excellent Video. I now have a much better understanding of the basics. The Ableton videos assumed a certain level of knowledge. Yours was pitched at a much better level for a beginner
thank you for creating this! very helpful. In your mind, what are the best ways for a solo singer/songwriter like myself to use the Push in live performances? What could the Push add to my shows to spice things up?
Great question Grace :) Hard to answer thought without knowing your songs and stage set up etc... what comes to mind immediately though is for you to use it to create live beats that you could then effect using the knobs at the top - applying filters, delays etc to create movement within them over time... another thing you could do is to have your songs set up within ableton scenes that you could then control with push, switching from one scene to the next... what this means is that you could be a lot more free when it comes to arrangement onstage... you could extend or shorten certain passages impromtu if you know what I mean... that's just a few things I can think of without knowing exactly what it is you do... hope that helps!
im gonna buy push 2 . but im new in producing music. i thought it will be harder to create. But this video is very very good. Now im waiting for push even more. Thanks
Thanks for this tutorial. Very clearly explained the creative process from beginning to end. Keep going with these lessons for beginners and beyond. Very valuable!
Thank you so much for making this video. It's been the most helpful beginner video I've found, after being very frustrated with the way other people seems to just jump past the small details. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I'd pay you to teach me in person if we were in the same place.
Appreciate it.... you might want to check out my course on composing at some point. Its like a really in-depth version of this video. Over at push4life.eu/premium 😎👍
Absolutely fantastic job. I understood more and faster from your tutorial than by watching the dvd tutorial. Can you show how to record external hardware synths into Ableton as well. Thanks and go ahead with your tutorials👍🏼👍🏼
+Tip Top Glad you enjoyed it. I will be releasing a full course based on this video in about a month so stay tuned! As far as your question, I won't be able to do that anytime soon as I don't own any external synths. Sorry about that. All the best though 👍🏽
Brilliant explanation and so simply done, thank you for this i have just taken delivery of my new push2 and love it but this tutorial has certainly helped a huge amount

Appreciate it Pierre.... now HAVE FUN!

How can anybody dislike this video? It is just great knowledge explained in a very precise manner.
+Derin Altan Thanks Derin 🤘🏼💯👍🏽

I learned more watching your video than I did after hours and hours with the manual and online. Thank you!
This guy is really something in the art of teaching beginners !
Thanks Kenn 🙏
You are a wonderful musician and a superb educator! I am so grateful. I got this thing 2 days ago and watching Ableton's first lesson on their channel, I felt like an analphabet person watching a video on " how to write an academic essay"! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this to those of us who have no idea!

+golf-freq Awesome! Thanks a lot!
This first tutorial helped me so much. I searched others, but your tutorials are very well put together and clear video and audio.
Thanks Dave. Much appreciated! 🖖🏿👽
"move vertically every three keys". The push scale secret revealed. i have seen several videos on intervals on push but this is the only one that actually explained the layout understandably. Next, how do you invert cords?
+anzatzi Great compliment... thanks.... I will be doing a whole series on harmony in the near future, so make sure to stay tuned ;)
Lol same. I literally played with that layout for like an hour and couldn't figure out the trick. I still find that layout to be very alien. Also I find it's hard to translate any piano knowledge. (chords etc) Any good tricks for me?
Can't you change the layout to 4?

Love it.... thanks for sharing!
I agree, I just got mine and this video helped more than any. Do you have any other beginner videos like this? Like a playlist or series

+Ronald Kleijn Thanks Ron. Glad I could help 🖖🏿👽
Hi Clyde, thanks for the compliments ;)
I use the full blown ableton 9 suite which I love... I am not sure what comes with the other versions so best check the ableton website for infos on that... as far as plugging in a guitar, that isn't possible... but you can plug it into your soundcard if you have one with inputs and then manipulate the sounds from the PUSH if you want.... hope that helps!
Amaizing explanation, thanks for helping everyone with your friendly skills!
Really a great video! Concise and well explained, and you reviewed each of the points you covered at the end. Well done and very useful. I've had the Push for just a little while and still learned some really important points from the video. Thanks for sharing.
Glad I could help Matthew 😁👍

Thanks P4L I just bought a Push 2 and this is an excellent intro and a fast start - really inspired I'm off to create my first song! looking forward to more from you.
Awesome!
Excellent Video. I now have a much better understanding of the basics. The Ableton videos assumed a certain level of knowledge. Yours was pitched at a much better level for a beginner
That's what I was going for :)
Extremely well done, great video! Thank you for taking the time to create and share this.
My pleasure! Thanks for taking the time to leave such a nice comment... made my day :D
I just got my Push 2 a few days ago, but this was PERFECT for a noob like me. Thank you!
Thanx for helping demystify Push 2. I'll be watching all your vids
Hey David, thanks for the comment - Glad I could help!
Thank you for going step and step and being clear and thorough in your explanations!
No worries :D
thank you for creating this! very helpful. In your mind, what are the best ways for a solo singer/songwriter like myself to use the Push in live performances? What could the Push add to my shows to spice things up?
Great question Grace :) Hard to answer thought without knowing your
songs and stage set up etc... what comes to mind immediately though is
for you to use it to create live beats that you could then effect using
the knobs at the top - applying filters, delays etc to create movement
within them over time... another thing you could do is to have your
songs set up within ableton scenes that you could then control with
push, switching from one scene to the next... what this means is that
you could be a lot more free when it comes to arrangement onstage... you
could extend or shorten certain passages impromtu if you know what I
mean... that's just a few things I can think of without knowing exactly
what it is you do... hope that helps!
im gonna buy push 2 . but im new in producing music. i thought it will be harder to create. But this video is very very good. Now im waiting for push even more. Thanks
Awesome Justinas ;)

best push2 introduction so far. thank you very much!
Thank you very much... I really appreciate it!
No worries, thanks for your fast response
Brilliant explanation and so simply done, thank you for this i have just taken delivery of my new push2 and love it but this tutorial has certainly helped a huge amount
