I just wanted to add my two cents. When I received my driver's license renewal notice 2 months prior my birthday when the license was expiring, I followed the instruction as they were in the notice. I created and account and fill out an application and schedule an appointment and pay the renewal fee. Since I used my email address as my user ID, I received and email from DMV with a link to the e-learning course. I took the course, after each module is a small quiz with 3 or 4 question and no failing, if at first the answer is incorrect it will tell to give a correct answer. In this way anyone can complete the course. Now the fun part is that, when you go to the DMV they have your record. So all we have to do is take a vision test and a thump print and take a new picture and done. I hope it helped any senior for the renewal of their driver's license. This video really helped. I had not had to take a test to renew my license for at least 15 yrs. At 71, I had to take the test, but I took the e-learning test, and it was so easy

I'm so thankful to you for this super valuable video!! It popped up randomly on my UA-cam and I'm forever grateful that it did. The on-line eLearning was easy to complete. When I got a little lost in one section, I just rewatched your follow along video and got back on tract. One word of caution to others... once I completed the course and got my confirmation number, I took a screen shot with my phone for added proof. Why?? Because when I went to print out the confirmation number, the DMV site went blank. Went to DMV for vision test and the employee said he didn't see a confirmation number in the system. I showed him the screen shot proof. He punched in the number and voila it was there 🙏

I drive a lot almost everyday. One of the rare people that doesn't tailgate etc.. Have been a licensed California driver since 1967. Haven't had a moving violation since mid '70's. The state shouldn't even bother testing me.
The DMV advertises no more testing after 70 years old, yet you have to go through all of these steps just to take A TEST AGAIN! Better off just to make an appointment and get it over with. I worked for the DMV for 15 years and they were just as confusing then as they are now 😡⚓️🇺🇸💙
I did all these steps last week before seeing this video. I had no idea this would get me out of the test! When it was time for the survey, I was quite negative haha. One thing, your documents for the Real ID can be government licenses or vehicle registrations or many other things. I used my driver`s licence and a vehicle registration.

@@justbecause502 what I did on line was e-learning, you go thru about 7 lessons, after each lesson there is a simple quiz to test your knowledge. It is not graded, it is just some sort of a review if you understood the lesson.

There is another official DMV.CA.GOV test that I know for sure you can take online here on UA-cam. It has the official logo, verbage (see example at the beginning of the last sentence}. That is the test you want to do here on UA-cam BECAUSE you can either print out your results (pass) or send your results electronically straight to the DMV site. Otherwise, if you physically go to the DMV to take the written test, you must pass the test in only 3 attempts (with possibly one person one either side of you also taking THE test).
Two days ago 5/25 Sat, I successfully enrolled the eLearning course with payment paid and got receipt with Payment Confirmation Number, but still unable get access to the DMV Virtual Test Center to start my learning, had tried clicking on "click here" wordings several times yesterday and today (Sunday) in same DMV email which showed payment confirmation number although DMV email said Virtual Test Center eLearning course available 27/4days week. Seemed eLearning access still not available or activated, is it because of virtual training center only operates on week days, not on Sat/Sun perhaps also Holidays (incl. 5/27?). Found also DL application confirmation code not shown on email. Please advise how could I resolve situations or get access to or have it activated so able to start course learning ASAP. I'm 81 years old. Thx.

Hi Sir, E-Learning is applied for class C driver license. It costs only $45. You may ask DMV to refund you money. And also E-Learning is only for renewal driver license for senior.

Question 1: Can you do all this on a cell phone, if you don't have a computer at home? Question 2: I am afraid to take off my mask at the DMV to have my picture taken. What do I do to stay safe from germs???
Answer 1: Now, you dont have to take the exam, they are no longer require the exam. You just come to DMV office and renew your driver license. Please look at DMV letter to see required documents. Answer 2: taking picture is about 5 minutes, no worry about germs.

Agree, E-Learning is hard for the seniors. You can ask your relatives to help.
At 67, Czlif, They didn't give me any test...took hrs just for photo and vision test

The California DMV website WILL NOT ALLOW 70+ the eLearning option until 2 MONTHS BEFORE your License expires. John M.

Yes, you should bring them together for sure, DMV website mentions about these documents. You don’t want to go back home to get them.

You can only renew your license if your license is expired in 60 days. Yes, you can renew by E-Learning.
I'm 70, never rec my renewal. Never rec my tags. I got a letter threatening me about that. I'm an excellent driver. Hardly drive, maniacs on road.

If you passed class C test, you will receive your driver license within 2 weeks. E-Learning is only applied for Class C.
