RIAM Mock Exam: Piano Grade 1

In this video the Chairperson of the Senior Examiners, Lorna Horan, takes us through a Grade 1 Piano Exam. In the video, we see her conduct all aspects of an RIAM Grade 1 Piano Exam.
(This student received a distinction in his Grade 1 exam in February 2016).

Wow, I take exams with ABRSM and looking at this. Damnnn these exams look much trickier. I was shook at how quick this kid was playing for grade 1.

I'm doing grade one but my book is the 2017 one .Those pieces sound much harder than my ones mine are Minuet Sonatina and Boogie No 1

Thank you :) was wondering what it takes. I was first taught in July last. A lovely lady named Andrea is teaching me. She advised me to know a lot of theory and sight reading and the scales. Her first goal is to teach me fur Elise. I can read music though slowly and play any piece relatively fast. Still need to work on tempo though.

For the pieces - you can choose to play with or without the book - that is up to you! For the sight reading? You get a little time to look at it before you read it?

No. Some students choose to present the pieces from memory but it is not a requirement!
