    as a jaded NYC designer, its tough for me to respect modern artists. But this guy is seriously fucking awesome. The fact that he not only uses his machines for his art, the fact that he continues to create new ideas and never stay content with 1 module or concept is extremely impressive

    This is a whole-brain work and it is fascinating. His process makes it art. Well done!

    "This is impressive and clever but there is a total lack of empathy for the insect. The cricket is not a collaborator, it is trapped and trying to escape. Look at the drawing again, see the desperate lines"
    says one of the comments.

    what artist is the theme music? specifically the very last song?

  • @AnnaArrissa
    @AnnaArrissa 6 років тому

    You guys obviously don't accept that it's modern art. We're doing an arduino project in my Design 2 class for college and it's called "Incidental Line Redux." The robot draws for you, but you make it draw incidentally via code. So just because the robot is tied to the cricket hopping around, the robot is also tied to code to follow the cricket. Art isn't limited to an artistic drawing or painting anymore. It's so much more than that now.

    This is a little off topic but... can anyone tell me what the song that comes on at 1:42 is?

    He's a programmer with a lesbian pop star's hair-do.
    He's good at math & has access to capital, that is the point.

      building that machine is not even that expensive, he took at rep 3d printer model and adapted it to be a cnc machine with a pen on the end. Then edit the software to print only one layer and usd processing (wich is a free java framework) to do the math/movement sensor and send it to the printer. It is really easy if you really wanna do it

    The theories behind the art seem so arbitrary, so made up. Like the ideas come after the art. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

    He is a technological artist, and the machine is a fine artist sans sentience - stop arguing over it. The term 'artist' is very broad.

    • @matheusd.rodrigues429
      @matheusd.rodrigues429 7 років тому

      he hasn't done anything tho, the machine is an old concept, and the program he uses is actually made to be used that way (processing is a java framework design to be used by artists) he hasn't thought of anything ,the machine take images from the internet and draw them, or follow an insect desperate to get out of a prision and draws the path.

    You do realize that when trying to make a point of being intellectual you might want to recheck that "sentence" you wrote down. Saying that Warhol was lazy seems a very personal opinion and has in my opinion little to do with the artist featuring in this movie.

      Building a machine that had already all the schematics on the internet and then using a already done framework to do the "math" for you it is actually lazyness.

    cool, but sort of takes the life out of the drawing knowing that it was done mechanically. The human error is a big part of the piece that helps other humans relate to it.

    haha ..yeah i think this "artists" romanticizes the very everyday activity that we have at printing stores....u print an ad or a blanket paper with a intention and out comes a blank paper which you call it art. because you printed it with intention of nothingness
