Previous sources that were reporting this, were deemed as fake and hoax but now everything seems to be true. If this is true will Newey retire or will make his way towards another team. Toto Wolff seems to be awfully interested in this possibility as he already tried to hijack Verstappen. I think Newey wants a future in Ferrari but not only designer of Formula 1 cars, much more then that he wants to design Ferrari's new generation commercial cars too. So I belive one day Newey will join Ferrari its inevitable. Question is when?

Depends who filled his slot at red bull. If he went ‘now’ the RB is still half a second faster a lap in the right hands, and I can think of 4 drivers who could easily do that… so not a given.

Not necessarily, he doesn't need that extra baggage in his work life at this point in his career, ontop of that maybe he just wants a new challenge to finish off a winning career. He has accomplished everything he needed at redbull. Plus there are no friends in this level of business.
