- ■ Carlos Sainz has been dubbed to sign a contract with Mercedes after the latest move from his compatriot Fernando Alonso, but it seems like there are quite a few things that need to be ironed out before this collaboration happens in the first place. However, with not many more attractive seats available on the grid, it’s inevitable that Sainz’s future with Mercedes could be the best move for the Spaniard, and with this in mind, are we going to see what would be a ‘drivers swap’ between Ferrari and Mercedes, and more importantly, which team would emerge as the winner from this trade at the end of the day?

With Alonso signing with Aston Martin, it only makes sense for Sainz to sign with Mercedes, this is because with Audi for example, the project will still take a few years until they start performing well, and considering Sainz is in his prime, he would be throwing away lots of years at building a team.
Red Bull could technically still be an option, but that’s only it Perez performs really bad at Red Bull, because so far there is no reason to have a different driver besides Verstappen

How?
2026 will have a change in the regulations, where the Engine will play an important role on the performance of the car, and Mercedes has showed previously that building strong engines is one of their best abilities.
Not saying they will 100% dominate of course hahahah, but there should be quite a massive shakeup in the new regulations and I wouldn't be surprised if Mercedes ends on top

Honestly if i was Mercedes, I’d get sainz then the year after, get Antonelli. Russell is a liability who doesn’t really take accountability for his mistakes. Overrated in my opinion but it’s just an opinion

Sainz is one lucky guy.
First win - max had issue Leclerc lead the race till 11 laps remaining and Ferrari screwed him by not pitting.
Second win - again not on pole but Max retired
Third win - same as above
Thats all he has till now, just a avg guy with good car ( at times , ferrari is second best team depending upon circuits ). No risk just running around 70 circles hoping for best be it 1st or 8th thats why he gets lucky.
Change that with Hamilton and replace it with his entire career. Always in the #1-3 top car. Got into Merc right as they benefitted the most from Schumacher/Laudas guidance, unbeatable hybrid engine they started designing back in 09 with unlimited budget, built off the corpse of Brawn an already successful winning team. Not to mention the secret tire tests pre 2014 season, FRIC/DAS, mid season pirelli tire tests to help them out and regulation changes to help them out mid season constantly. No driver has been as lucky as carmilton.
