In case you two didn't know yet, there are many awesome Gravity Falls Shorts that are meant to be watched in between season 1 and season 2! They are really worth watching and I highly recommend you watch those after you finish season 1.

I don't think I've ever seen a public pool lifeguard who wasn't a teenager? Same with water park employees. It's usually a summer job that doesn't pay well. I got training at 12 that included lifeguard, cpr, first aid, etc just because my mom wanted me doing something outdoors during summer. My brother started working as a lifeguard at a country club pool at 14.
@@justinehercthehuman The first thing they teach you in lifeguard training is not to let someone grab you, no matter how big you are. A panicked swimmer can drown you regardless of relative strength. That's why you keep something like a rescue float between you in the water unless someone's unconscious. I've pulled grown men out of pools and rivers as a teenager - you just have to know how to do it.

The pool I frequent requires a bunch of swimming tests to qualify (one of the lifeguards was telling me about it, but I have swollen turbinates and terrible endurance so I'd probably never be a strong enough swimmer to do it). I've heard stories about teenagers being lifeguards over the summer, but I'd thought it was something being phased out because it wasn't a very good idea (I'm sure some teens are cut out for it, especially with the right training, but I wouldn't trust most teens in the position, it just makes more sense for an adult to do it).
