this video is terrible lmao, new Garfield video coming eventually though 🤯
Nice
you better only have positive things to say this time
btw the garfield movie you mentioned finally came out recently. i saw it at the drive-in last night and it was pretty good
Forget the "This was made for kids" excuse, this felt like an actual fever dream for me as a kid
This was made for all, it makes fun of adult and kid cartoons while showing some 🤨 weird shit. Gotta say, 9/10 and gravely underrated
That's why I love it
It didn't FEEL like a fever dream, it is the closest we'll get to seeing an actual garfield fans fever dream visualised in TV form.
I remember watching this in French though when I was younger. One thing for sure, The Garfield Show is already better than most of UA-cam Kids, which I see as an open sky junkyard with really stinky trash (not The Garfield Show, the content for kids with Among Us, Poppy Playtime and Garten of Banban).
Same :O
Fun Fact: there’s a reason why the lip syncing is slightly delayed in some episodes. That reason being that the company behind the animation of the show (Dargaud Media) was founded in France.
Because of this, the episodes were originally dubbed in French and were released in December 2008 on France 3, while the English dubbed episodes aired a year later on Cartoon Network and Boomerang (November 2009).
Simply speaking, the lip sync delays weren’t because of laziness, time constraints or low budgets, but because of regional differences.
Ah, the Sonic Adventure 2 Effect!
I call it that because it’s what happened with Sonic Adventure 2.
When the game was developed and they were making the cutscenes, they made it to sync with the Japanese Dialogue. But when it came time to translate it to English, they didn’t change the cutscenes to account for it.
This resulted in some goofy moments from Characters cutting each other off, Characters talking over each other, and even entire sections of dialogue being removed cause of the Sound Mixing.
@@Eric_64_UwU to be fair, dubbed shows or games pretty much do this ALL the time, plus, I'm pretty sure it'll take way too long to actually just change the lip sync to match what language they're speaking anyway.
@@michaeldunlap1032 but when they make a bad attempt to at least try to make it sync up good, That’s when The Sonic Adventure 2 Effect comes into play.
@@Eric_64_UwU you DO realize it's not JUST sonic adventure 2 right?
@@michaeldunlap1032 I know that, I just call it that.
The Garfield Show is what I'd like to call a "Wind-down show". Perfect to wind down to and just enjoy for its simplistic charm.
Not all shows need to be phenomenally deep or message-driven, and this show knows it.
Its main theme slaps so hard.
I agree with you, the theme song is actually really catchy and satisfying
@@tacoman6485yeah my favorite part of the song is when jon is driving the car super sped up the notes on that scene sounded amazing!
I'm having a huge mandela effect moment looking back at this show.
When I was a kid I used to watch Garfield a TON back when they aired it back on Cartoon Network and then later when it was on Netflix. There are many moments from the show that still stick with me because of how many times I watched it.
Recently I rewatched a few episodes on UA-cam after getting a few in recommended and I gotta say: I don't remember like- at ALL the show looking just so.... cheap lol. The voice acting holds up but seeing the animation as an adult feels so uncanny, like I swear the animation wasn't THIS bad when I first watched it.
I think that's just a normal thing, I remember watching a bunch of awful looking cgi cartoons as a kid and I don't remember them looking as bad as they do now either, I guess it's because I was less critical as a kid than I am now
Same when I was younger this seemed like a very high quality show to me. But looking back the animation looks really weird.
Thats the same thing with shark boy and lava girl, you don't remember it looking that bad
I guess It's a normal thing since that most of US as a kid don't think about the mistakes that some CGI cartoons had since that we were stupid
It’s hardly bad at all. Something made on a cheap budget, and looking bad are completely different things. I think the cgi and animation are pretty good in spite of the cheapness.
Looking at the show now, I am kinda like "how did I like that horrible CGI", but as a child I suppose it was fine. It wasn't necessarly funny, but entertaining for reasons.
That wasn’t cgi cgi is literally even worse
The graphics is alright
Ngl. This show gave me Twisted Whiskers vibes.
but the cgi is fine though.
@@kermitgotthesickkicks4265 Exactly. I think people say the cgi is bad because of how much cgi has improved overall and how amazing it can be currently.
I remember I used to love the Garfield show when I was like 5! The memories
Why is My Favourite Cartoon Show is Cancelled!
I still like it even if im 19
same
Same here!
same lmao
This show was the closest to a YTP on television.
No AHKJ was.
I used to watch this show when I was like 4 or 5 and looking back on it, it’s REALLY weird. Some episodes just felt so surreal to me like that one with the phone world. What the hell was that? Still though, this show In my opinion does have its moments. It’s actually pretty funny at times ngl. This brings back many memories.
I still have trauma from the Cyber Mailman episode it was so Creepy to me.
Or the two part episode of whatever garfield would put in the machine it would begin to rain said item
Yeah. The show was trippy as hell, and scary sometimes.
i thought i DREAMT the phone episode until i rewatched it again recently lmaoo
Maybe I can see something Garfield and Friends were the best. Garfield Animated Movie were okay
I don’t really see Chris Pratt as Mario, but I can see him making a pretty decent Garfield
I can see where you're coming from honestly, but I think my main concern is I usually hear him just doing the same voice for the characters he plays in movies. I don't see him being that great of a voice actor but I would be glad to be wrong
@@Wyrlwind I understand where you’re coming from, but please. Watch Onward. He has potential!
@@carsonic21 he wasn’t that bad at it after i watched it
@@HorribleIuck bro i didnt even know it was chris pratt until i looked at the cast
thats how good it was 😭
The super mario movie was amazing!
I feel that Garfield got his popularity due to 2 facts: 1 there wasn't any comic strip like Garfield back in the 70's so he got a huge amount of followers just for that. And 2 he is just so relatable and marketable in so many ways, you can really have any of Garfield treats into you and the way he is desing give him a huge play for free merchandise, as Jim Davis himself intended from the start
And of course now, the memes and internet culture made the character so versatile for different themes
He cat
Was Heathcliff around in the 70's? He was kind of Garfield-ish.
The Garfield comic strips (compiled in books) made before the year 2000 were pretty good, but then the quality declined in the 2000s. Similar to the timeline of the decline of The Simpsons. Now, I'm not saying prime Garfield was as good as prime Simpsons, but there were lots of solid jokes in the older strips. And there were even a lot of genuinely touching moments too, like the story arc where Garfield looks for his mom (book 11, "Garfield Rolls On"), or when Garfield got lost and Jon went out to look for him (book 14, "Garfield Swallows his Pride"). There's even a notoriously scary arc where Garfield goes insane (book 20, "Garfield Takes up Space"). The humour in modern day Garfield strips is extremely lazy now, so I can see why no one likes Garfield anymore.
That explains it really well actually, thank you!
I'll admit that most of my love for Garfield is because of nostalgia, but the comic strip always gets a smile out of me as an adult. But I agree, it's not laugh out loud funny. But the character being in my life us a constant comfort, especially now that hes in Nick All-Star Brawl.
I need to play Nick All-Star Brawl again sometime to try out Garfield, I still find it bizarre that he's actually a character in the game
i actually love this show, because it’s extremely nostalgic, and i feel that it’s a good show in general, but everyone has their opinions.
Used to watch this all the time when I was 8, I still love it, its pretty good to my standards
I still like Garfield as a character unironically. Im kinda sad how they dont really try with the character these days
The Garfield Show is actually how I discovered Garfield (and lasagna) and I actually loved it because it's bizarre but in a good way but I have absolutely no clue he had his own comic strip because I assumed he's a stand-alone cartoon character that doesn't have a franchise or something like that until I had a conversation with someone I know when I was probably around 7. She mentioned there's a comic of it and I was like "👀 For reals? Show me". I remember reading the comics for the first time thinking it's pretty hilarious (they're so hilariously gold that I'm sure it took a while for me to stop laughing) and I still enjoy Garfield to this day.
Side note:
I'm not even joking when I said TGS is how I learned the existence of Garfield and lasgana. Before I even first seen it in maybe 2010-11?, I legit never heard or seen of Garfield. I never even got into comics until after 2011. Same goes for lasagna as my family never took us to a Italian restaurant nor did they make lasagna at the time.
Used to watch this alot as a kid, never thought of how weird it was until i compared it to Garfield and Friends
Well since we’re talking about how weird the show is I’ll admit it:
I…kinda used to have a tiny crush on Garfield when I was a kid-
wha
YOU WHAT
I'm not the only one hooray!
Garfield is a peak specimen
😳
This show came out when I was 15 and growing up with Garfield I was honestly kind of looking forward to it. However when I watch the first episode of the weird lasagna aliens or whatever, all I can think about is how odd the animation and aesthetic was…so what I would do whenever I would watch other episodes was to purposely look for animation errors since it was fun to see what managed to slip into the final release. A lot of lip syncing problems, things that just disappear in the next shot, objects that have no purpose being there. I’m sure people have scene or heard of the one scene that was aired unrendered and I can say that it made me laugh so hard when I saw on TV for the first time because it genuinely was unbelievable to me that something that noticeable wasn’t fixed.
3:49 John:“this pizza tastes like cardboard”, cowboy hat guy: uh no, hour all meat special tastes like cardboard, this one tastes like styrofoam
Mama meanie
I have ten year old family members who still watch this daily on repeat like a damn religion.
I don’t blame them, he is n icon after all but the Garfield show kinda degraded him. The Garfield and friends shows is way funnier and in a way, better.
Bet they're planning to create a Garfield religion lmfao
They have good taste
@@soontobechannel743no😊
The best way to describe this show is a parody of itself, everything in it seems intentionally lazily done and it seems as if every characters sole purpose is to go against garfield. The only way to truly enjoy this show is to watch it ironically because it feels like everything in the show was built to be treated ironically. if you want an actual garfield show which dosent feel like its a meme of itself then garfield and friends is the thing you should watch, it potrays the characters accurately and feels like an actual garfield show and not a parody of a garfield show.
the original Garfield & Friends show is 10x more funnier than The Garfield Show. if you haven't given it a watch yet, I'd recommend it
I'll have to check it out sometime
I definitely agree. However I still enjoyed the Garfield Show as a kid. It only started getting awkward for me was when they shoehorned the musical numbers in their more recent episodes.
@@JJFBlaster oh dude the musical numbers are so bad loll, I tried listening to one of them and it's super obvious they didn't have any songwriters on the team cause half of the lyrics didn't even rhyme
I actually like it .But Garfield can be a douchebag in some episodes
the garfield and friends show was just animaniacs but with garf
NOBODY LIKES TO BE HATED BY THE POPULATION
Why do I still somehow enjoy this show?
Just to enjoy the wild and crazy ride
This show is litteraly my childhood at its peak
Hey all, I know this is different from what I usually upload, but I just thought it'd be fun to try covering something different for a one-off video! I probably won't do this much in the future because the vid got copyright claimed, since it's about a tv show. Regardless I hope you enjoyed the video! I'll have something gaming related out for my next vid, per the usual.
You kinda sound like fried from Scooby Doo
The pizza guys name is Vito sorry that’s just really bothering me
LMFAOOOOO
I still happen like Garfield just so you know! And I'm 16 years old!
The Garfield Show Is My Favorite Show
i remember always watching this show when i was a kid because it keeps airing in the TV in my free time. I don't really find the show funny or made me laugh out loud, but it's a pretty damn bizarre and entertaining to watch.
If i didn't like what i'm seeing, i'll just switch the TV into different Cartoon channel, but Garfield Show is a must watch for me because the reason i state
but looking back, it's does aged poorly especially with animation stand point, but i can't help to feel nostalgic seeing it
Yeah, I watched this show when I was younger, and like most other people here i like it for 1) nostalgia and 2) how it sometimes make you feel like your high af. It had some wack ass episodes.
The show at least gave the world the masterpiece of a song that is Go Away
8:12 "Who on planet Earth still unironically likes Garfield?"
The Izzzyzzz video right underneath this one: 🗿
I'll admit it was stupid of me to say that lmao, way more people like Garfield than I had assumed
To be honest, I think Garfield before the 2000s was so much better, and I'm actually a teenager right now. Unlike everyone else, I grew up watching garfield and friends, not the garfield show (thankfully). I'm glad I wasn't exposed to modern garfield when I was 8. I just loved the comic strips, as well as garfield and friends. I have actually not even watched the garfield show, so when I saw a video of it out of context, I was so confused.
I watched both but I still watch Garfield and Friends
Yes Garfield and Friends was the best show. Only thing I like about Garfield Show were voice actors except annoying girl twins that I never remember that in comics strip
@@peepsgsome characters arent in the comics theres…
Vito
Eddie gourmand
Minerva and drusilla
Harry
Bruno
All the cats that arent garfield arlene or nermal
Gloria
Mrs cauldron
Theres so much people!
I loved the Garfield show as a kid, and watched so much of it, but I never got to see the amazing multi part movie-like things
I recently started from the beginning and watched it all, and I really liked it
I like Nermal in Garfield and Friends but I don’t like him in the few episodes of The Garfield Show I’ve seen
Yeah they really downgraded him.
I kinda miss his old voice, it really made him sound younger and gave him more of a kid personality. Since he was always nagging his uncle in the original show
The whole thing looks like a PS2 cutscene.
nah this looks better than most ps2 games.
funny you say that, there's a garfield game on the ps2 with nearly identical graphics
6:00 This bit is beyond hilarious. XD
I grew up with The Garfield Show, and would always watch it before heading out to elementary school. As I got older, I decided to check out Garfield and Friends Show and man I gotta say, it’s 100x better than what I grew up with.
Since every episode is split into 3 parts, the writing is a lot more cleaner and organized, not to mention that it’s 2D animation so everything isn’t wonky. Meanwhile, The Garfield Show has to work with 20 minutes per episode, and considering that the franchise is about a lazy cat who eats a lot and hates monday’s… It’s kinda hard to work with that, which is why there’s a lot of adventure episodes and “plot twists” to reach that 20 minute limit.
So if you got free time in your schedule, I recommend watching Garfield and Friend’s show if you’re into the Garfield series :)
"Who still likes Garfield Unironically" I thought People would be angry about that 🤔, I like Garfield
I think it was stupid of me to say that just because I had never personally seen anyone say they unironically liked him lol
4:52 the show is French so they probably only re-animate the dialogue to fit the English lip sync when they think it’s important
The pizza guy’s name is vito
i recently watched the first 2 seasons of this show and it's so horribly unhinged that i can't help but love it
The Garfield Show looks like a video game cutscene turned into a show
8:15 I have to admit, I do, because nostalgia is a very powerful thing.
fun fact: in s2ep9 in one of the parts near the tv part there is a scene that LITERALLY HAS THE ANIMATION PROGRESS, what i mean is it doesnt look finished and shows the unedited. idk what its called because idk how whatever they animate on works or what it is
Its unrendered
I was so weirded out when i first saw that episode scene
blame the french
This man doesn't understand masterfully crafted masterpieces
I love The Garfield Show it was my favorite show and still my favorite show! The humor is funny in my opinion!
Garfield in one episode said “ I know where you live” 😂
BRO THIS VIDEO IS SO GOOD I DIDNT EVEN NOTICE IT ONLY HAD 9k
Underrated UA-camr right here
I love how many times you didnt say the pizza guys names correctly.
His name is Vito.
Im not gonna lie, i actually though this show was okay.
remember that part in an episode where in a part of it THEY FORGOT TO RENDER IT OR EVEN NOT SHOW THE GUI OF THE SOFTWARE THEY USE TO MAKE IT!? AND JON FOR NO REASON HAS ONE OF THOSE SCREAMING CHICKEN TOYS.
blame the french
Even when I was young I couldn’t stand this show for something. Like the actual writing and jokes where fine, but like the animation was so low budget that it was an eye sore to look at. I remember seeing different “characters” in the show, but they always re-used the same assets because I guess time or budget restraints. I’m sure other kids didn’t notice but especially seeing high quality shows like Regular Show and Adventure Time, than to immediately go to this, was a drop in quality. It baffles me too, considering Jimmy Neutron came out in the early 2000s and looked leagues better than this.
Show should of just been 2d.
3D animated TV shows tend to look a lot cheaper than 2D shows, from what I've seen at least. I've heard that 3D animation is more expensive than 2D animation but I'm not sure if that is true or not. That being said, compared to other 3D animated shows, I sorta prefer how the Garfield Show looks (other than Jimmy Neutron). Most 2D shows look better by a mile though, I agree.
@@Wyrlwind Unless you count Pocoyo.
I also realized that multiple characters in episodes were played by the same animation models,it was weird
i never watched this, but i watched a different garfield show and there was an episode where he baked a fruit cake and it grew bigger than the fucking house and chased him down the street in the middle of the night. basically an older version of that cake monster episode you talked about. turned it off and never watched it again, still traumatized
Can we please go to Cheese Land?
My favorite Episode is gotta be the "Against All Tides" arc.
All narrated by the great Corey Burton, The modern voice of Captain Hook, just adds to the salty dog charm.
3:33 I can't fully remember, but I think his name is Vito
8:12 that seems like a very bold statement. I watched all the 1980’s specials around last Christmas and I liked them a lot and I’m going to continue watching them again every year, and i don’t like hardly anything on tv.
I remember loving this show when I was 11. Heck, I've been rewatching it for the past 2 years as an adult and I still love it.
I remember there being another show like this one. It's premise was basically Garfield and his friends ran some sort of movie studio.
What you're talking about is the series of Animated Movies they released. If my memory is correct there were at least 3 of them.
I believe they were released around the same time period, but I discovered them a bit later. I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed it more than the Show. The stories had more meaning, way less jokes.
@@cyberpunkgrappling6447 Yeah, thanks for reminding me, I thought no other person on Earth remembered it even existed
@@cyberpunkgrappling6447 at least those animated movie were charm and he wasn’t breaking the wall unlike in the Garfield show. They should have done next time do it after episode ends or before episode begins “Garfield Says”
Unpopular opinion, Garfield and friends best piece of Garfield media
That is actually the most popular Garfield media to ever exist. Everything Garfield related after that has been hated on. So your opinion isn't unpopular at all.
Yea im stupid
I'm convinced this show is the origin of all the "weird" Garfield stuff on the internet, except maybe Lasagna Cat since that came a few years earlier. People saw this show as a kid, and then they started making weird stuff with Garfield when they became adults.
As weird as it is, I still genuinely like it.
But I’m not even a teen and I like Garfield…
I never get how they missed that animation error
Only episode, I remember was the one where Garfield stole stuff for my toy walrus
The lip-syncing as you mentioned is a bit weird, but I think it has to do with the show being produced in France.
I do like the chapter episodes. Those have a story. And like Garfield fashion ,they have musical moments
This show introduced me to Garfield when i was a wee lad
I was obsessed with this show back in 2nd grade. I guess I was easy to entertain
I've always been kinda neutral on this show. It's not that bad, but a lot of things weigh it down while a lot of other things make it great. The animation and writing is pretty mediocre. But at the same time, some jokes got me REALLY laughing, albeit rarely.
Like in the episode where Garfield gets a pocket watch and just stops time. That was probably the show at its peak for me, since it was so god damn funny.
The christmas episode was also awesome, one of the most heartfelt and charming christmas specials out there.
Do you remember what the pocket watch episode was called? Kinda curious to watch it now
@@Wyrlwindit is called “time master”

i am an abomination
Man I loved this show as a kid. I remember thinking it was pretty funny but I mainly watched it to see how weird it got. My favorite episodes were always the ones that went far outside of the realm of possibility (like TV shows coming to life or a lovesick AI taking over every electrical appliance in the house to try to kill the cast. Good times
I’m a teen and I still watch this. I’m binge watching it right now.
I only very recently went to rewatch this show and I don’t care what anybody says, I love it through and through for how unapologetically unhinged it is. To be fair, this show was like, my first introduction to Garfield as a whole (and thus being the groundwork of how I perceive Garfield) so that could explain why I’m biased towards it, but even so. It’s genuinely just an absolute ride and I love it
In season 4, why did they have to put Garfield in the most fantasy like situations, and why did they have to make it a musical
The show was gonna end so they didn’t want to make a lot of episodes just specials and since people can rewatch again and if the episodes turned out bad then the final season isn’t that special
I will admit. It does have bad animation. But it is still a good show in my opinion.
It really doesn’t. I don’t know why people say this when it’s fluid.
It has ok animation but it is still cheap but it is an amazing show! I wish season 6 would happen!
So we watched this show every day at lunch at my school in our classroom a few years back. I grew love for it and now it’s one of my favorite shows. I also love Garfield and friends, it’s great :)
It's funny to see this show come back into resurgence. While I wasn't fortunate enough to grow up with the much better received Garfield and Friends, I do fond memories of this show. I just forgot just how it stemmed away from the source material to the extent that Dirk Dinkum's song exists.
How is it so iconic! But its in a not so watched show! There is even a cover of that song but its jack horner from puss in boots the last wish!
You went wrong my dude. You should have went with the 80s and 90s classic Garfield and friends
Nah he doesn't like garfield anyways so he was probably going to hate it
I also remember watching this show, and I find this more entertaining than the Scooby Doo shows.
my favorite episodes of the garfield show is when garfield goes to the school for witches to rescue odie and then have to fight a witch. the writing is actually above decent for the show and it’s never boring. there is an entire compilation across all 6 episodes that’s an hour and two minutes long
The episode I remember the most from The Garfield Show was the one where Jon and company go looking for his old friend Lyman. I have met the guy who did the voice of Lyman in this episode. He is a Groucho Marx impersonator.
This show came out when I was 9. It was one of my favorite shows. It was honestly stupid but I liked it for some reason. Lol
I remembered the show as a fever dream but as I get more used to the style I doesn’t feel like that anymore
Even as a kid, I hated this show. It was crap since it was nothing more than making fun of a fat cat. Jon Arbuckle was the worst since he treated Garfield like a human.
I have a lot of nostalgia for it anf my mom even gave me a book that ran through an episode. Being the one where garfield gets a clock that can stop time and he abuses it. And yes, i still have it. But its in spanish
The theme song SLAPS
It’s weird. But it’s the good kind of weird.
There was (Now being older) Something i noticed, the creators used the same character models all of the time for background characters (Regardless if they spoke or not) I get kids might not have noticed this (Or didnt notice as much) But now watching it now being older (Or adults watching with their kids) I have noticed it alot
Before watching, I'm just gonna say that I loved this show growing up and was always excited to see it air on boomerang. I remember when it randomly got a new season that one time, I was exstatic! Ahh, good times... If only this show wasn't remembered nowadays for the insane animation error...
Definitely had fond memories of this one .
I just wanna say, if you don’t think they’re are any entertaining pieces of Garfield media, I’d recommend checking out the 12 tv specials. They’re all really good and all but 4 of them got nominate doge Emmy’s, and the other 4 won the Emmy.
The music and sound effect are giving me ed edd eddy vibes
I personally really like the show. It's very entertaining and some jokes are actually very funny. I don't understand why other people don't like it, but everyone has their opinions. :)
I watched this show of Netflix and found out that Nermal is actually part of the mafia
1. he didn't talk about the USA animation error
2. I'm litterly dieing from that "funny orange cat" at the end
I always binge watched this show on Netflix, even the old movies I would watch multiple times, now that I look at it again, it was very weird lol.
Yea the shows really weird. The only time it felt a bit normal was the christmas specials.
