would be cheaper is they use a small and long ips screen on the blade instead of fucking micro led...anyway for 3d i assume each blade send a different image for the effect
I don't know, but if you were a graphic artist and had to design a new logo for some big ass company, the pitch would be a lot more exciting with these fans.
Hey, the really awesome, out of reach stuff of today becomes the boring, everyday stuff of tomorrow. Just let the really rich guys play with and test it first, like VCRs, DVD, Blu-Ray, HD TV, etc.
+Democritus86 ...You've seen someone make an array of 2 million RGB fans before? I'd like to see this because I doubt there's even a single individual out there (companies and corporations don't count) who even bought 2 million fans, let alone set them all up together, lol... If you have a link, that'd be really nice ;)
as someone who once worked, (and hopes to get back into it) in live music production, design and operation....this thing is effing amazing! a must have in the future of live music visual production!
Simple way to really up the image quality would be to have the black backdrop in front of the cage like frame, with ONLY the blades in front of the black backdrop. You could space them any distance you'd like away from said backdrop with various length, or even telescoping rods... They could all adjust at the push of a button even. But then the entirety of the cage or frame would be hidden away, with only vivid colors over a black backdrop being seen. Would probably go a long way with this already amazing product.
It kind of reminds me of those really old mechanical televisions they would show before CRTs became a thing. Those old televisions would use a large disk with holes and a light source in the back, but this one puts the light on the fan, giving a much brighter and more clear image. It's impressive and I'm glad computers have finally caught up with this concept. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I'd imagine these will become a lot cheaper once the computers powering them do, and once third parties start to latch on.
Check your info about the single "fan" resolution. We are 100% sure that this is not a 4K per single unit(as studio that worked on animation for this hardware), not even close.
I can't comment on particular resolutions or specs, but this is their old product. www.3dholodisplay.com/LED-based-plug-play-42x42-cm-Hypervsn-3D-Hologram-Player-pd6135855.html The fact that they din't give the biggest tech youtuber this info is really pointing to how closed the system is. I am really curios if they straight up misled him or it's just a mistake.
We can't comment the specification of the device(it's confidential). We simply asking if hypervision give specific resolution to Linus, this by this pixels. Because we have seen this in action and it's obviously not a 4K display/fan. When they say 4K when it's not it will be very disappointing for costumers in the future.
The thing is, this display is unconventional and it's impossible to classify it within a standard resolution. Each pixel isn't even rectangular to begin with, it's an arc. If you watch that fan though, even the outer edges look very crisp and they aren't really creating a visible arc, so there have to be a ton of LEDs on each blade, and they have to be refreshing extremely quickly. If it's 200 LEDs per blade, that's effectively π200^2 pixels, which is less than a 1080p standard display.. Resolution on one of these would have to be calculated by the area of a circle, pixels per blade being the radius.
When I'm around things that can hurt me (like fan blades, drive belts, chains, gears, pulleys) I stay safe and think of where I'm putting my fingers / clothing. Don't think about your actions, suffer the consequences. Those people shouldn't spoil another good technology.
Well the way these displays work is they depend on a property of human vision. When we see bright lights, our eyes don't immediately let that dissappear when the light is gone, instead we retain it in our vision for a bit. These fans spin fast enough that we can see a full picture, but a camera won't be tricked as well. Should look much better in real life.
If you're talking about where the lines on some things don't line up it's because it's not being viewed straight on in those shots I think. To get full coverage without a gap they have to overlap the fans but to do that they have to have them at at least two different depths. The closer they're able to get the front of the back 'fans' to the back of the front row the smaller that error will be. The other effects like the small swirl you can see in some shots are probably not visible to the human eye, camera's don't really see POV effects the same way our eyes do.
they should be favorable, the blades moving through the air sinks the leds, plus the blades can also be tilted to move air along the other parts that need cooling.
Sure you could. Since it can render models. All you need is to treat it in the same manner as rendering 2D with OpenGL or Direct3D. Render out quads which have textures mapped to their surfaces. However that ruleset for their particular installation is just stupid. Only showing the best of a technology is inviting disaster as no one can see the flaws and propose fixes.
But it's CES. You think Hypervsn will be like "Here's how our product sucks" at a demo booth? Beside, shops in China will be using either white-label versions of these made from cheaper parts because they're all made in the same factory or another white-label will make a knock-off of this soon enough for considerably less.
No even that. It can do full 2d... the team just don't want to at the moment, as they are only pushing top of the best quality and tech showcase videos right now. So if they stick to 3D until prices come down, they make more money?
Way cool! Seems like the LEDs could be on the edge of the blades so that you could see them from either direction. Sure, the fan housing would be in the way, but for signage applications I think that would usually be OK.
Cool, that is like 'fan'tastic made.. But hey.. I see some potential problems with it though: 1. Are they shielded? If not, how fast do they spin? can you loose your hand if you put it into one? 2. They are properly only for spaces where noise is not an issue.. 3. How much power do they consume, in comparison to normal displays Also, there were a comment about them not being hot.. That's properly another issue right there.. They will properly be hot, motors are general pretty hot..
Matruprasad Mohanty 50 grand rental; more than 3 grand each to buy; 10x10 grid over 300k; so 16:9 or 21:9 or any other ratio that you want, mix and match and find your price.
Some similar tech in Czechia, but its technology is physical medium, water, rather than light using LED and fans. I didn't know the fans existed until just now. Very cool now to see this.
It looks really great but you can still see where the fans are depending on the combination of images each one displays. Example: look at the center (where the hand is and around it) at 2:36).
and to think, if it was being pushed by Elon Musk and the Dyson vacuum cleaner company, with a tie-in to Apple, they'd be the biggest and most profitable company on Earth...
The effects look amazing! Definitely gives out the feeling we're looking at holograms, like those in Star Wars (though much better looking). Looking forward to see how much this technology evolves in the coming years!

They dont blow air at all. Thats why they make nearly 0 noice.
They are thin, flat blades. They displace very little air.

South Style Movies the problem is that with this sort of media, resolution depends on rotation speed and the refresh rate of the individual LEDs.
South Style Movies seriously. How can 200 pixel on each blade be 4k? Isn't that 400x400? Not even close to 4k.
We can't comment the specification of the device(it's confidential). We simply asking if hypervision give specific resolution to Linus, this by this pixels. Hey LTT employees! If you see Mordewolt's comment, pls answer.
Well the way these displays work is they depend on a property of human vision. When we see bright lights, our eyes don't immediately let that dissappear when the light is gone, instead we retain it in our vision for a bit. yeah it's kinda like low refresh rate monitors and how you would get a flashy video if you recorded it.
If you're talking about where the lines on some things don't line up it's because it's not being viewed straight on in those shots I think. To get full coverage without a gap they have to overlap the fans but to do that they have to have them at at least two different depths.
