  • We’ve gotten a ton of work done on the monza. It has a new 4150 brawler carb, edelbrock air gap intake, accel plug wires, and a ton of weight reduction. It’s that much closer to becoming a full running and driving car again.

Imagine what dual exhaust would have done to allow it to exhale much easier even w the stock manifolds it would have made a decent amount of difference I'm sure they really are light cars to begin with and we did the same thing to actually a olds Starfire used all the V8 bracketry and such from a 262 Monza to slap a good healthy 350 w a mild little cam and let it breathe well along w a good hei distributor with a good quality module and a aftermarket coil we curved the advance in the distributor to get the advance to come in when we wanted it the motor was not super high compression or anything so we could bring in full advance quite fast and with all that tinkering around the damn thing scooted like a scalded cat lol those are the secrets to waking up any motor really the total advance to be there when the motor will tolerate it w out detonating a good dual plane intake and a good carb no matter what it's in you'll get the best fuel economy and performance because it's happy and running at peak performance even older tired worn out motors can wake up decent so what if it smokes a little especially on start up cuz it needs valve seals and leaks oil a little bit run the snot out of it especially a small block Chevy they love it and will not disappoint lol

Any plans to switch out those 4 bolt wheel lugs? All the HP in the world wont do any good if it can’t get to the street.
I had a ‘80 Monza with a mid 90s 305, and the biggest problem (aside from all the maintenance issues with an ‘80s GM product) was wheel spin. There were virtually no aftermarket wheels for a 4 bolt RWD vehicle.

If you dont you may get interference from the shaft since it is oblong shaped! If you dont and it hits it will kinda lock up the steering as it rotates !!!

@@travisblack417 With this cast iron Chevy 350 and other iron blocks, how well do aluminum heads match with the block ?
->as am very well aware, which occurred with the many production iron block engines with aluminum heads, the head gaskets 'blew', ruptured, easily and the heads warped also
->the main cause is due to the significant difference between the expansion, contraction rates, amounts, etc. of aluminum compared with iron.
->am aware the head gaskets within those decades, were not the modern metal, multi-layer as are commonly used since.
->however the essential heat, cooling differences between iron vs aluminum are still significant !
->Please tell me You experience, thoughts, ideas about this.
->thus, for every reason, using an aluminum engine or full iron should be the proper combination, correct ?

@@alecweinstein4990 I totally understand. I have some experience getting factory AC up and running with R134, so I'll offer my advice and help if you need it. I"m not trying to push my opinion on you - do what you want to do - this just my $0.02. First, I don't see a major downside to ditching the heavy A6 compressor or the crap tube & fin condenser that came factory. A6s are great, but incredibly heavy compared to an aluminum case Sanden. And the tube and fin condensers will be a major bottleneck with R134 - they really need to be replaced with a parallel flow condenser anyway. Second, I personally would keep the evaporator suitcase, vacuum controls, dash controls, and ducting installed until you are sure about how you want to do AC. That system is ugly and space-hogging in the engine compartment, but it incorporates a large evaporator and functions for recirculation and defrost that will work better than an aftermarket system. Unfortunately your system is probably VIR (valve in receiver) and there isn't a good way to adjust the suction throttling valve (POA valve located inside the VIR) on that system, so you would have to convert to an accumulator / cycling system. I am local and happy to help you sort it out. Best way to reach me is through Instagram @chevyhotrodder
