my trim/tilt works just with hooking up battery cable on a stand. try starting it on a 25/1 mixture on fast idle while choking it. use the Johnson 2 stroke red label oil, it seals the rings better.
The direct connect from Remote Control to trim/tilt will not power trim your motor unless you use a solenoid. You will need to use your remote control to trim your outboard up or down to plane the boat quickly.
@@njfishing1 njfishing1 when its on the stand I do not need to connect the remote to trim/tilt. I can use the side button. the only solenoid I can think of on this motor is the starter which is nothing but a relay that when 12v is send to it, it completes a ciruit that sends battery volts to the starter. so maybe u could be right their is a solenoid for the trim/tilt motor as well since it's a big motor & need 12guauge battery volts. I couldn't see just 16 gauge wire from the remote powering it. thnx for the tip.
@@fishawk90 my 1982 Johnson 90 hp does not have a side trim/tilt button on the motor but my 2019 Yamaha does have a side button on the motor itself so that is very convenient. Kudos to the previous owner who set it up using the car solenoid instead of the OEM Johnson trim/tilt solenoid. His original wiring was even more complicated than what I have now. He was wiring everything to a junction box like setup. I got rid of the box and just direct wire everything to the car solenoid to my remote control at the steering wheel so I can drive the boat and trim my Johnson 90 hp outboard. It is super nice especially when launching and retrieving my boat off my trailer at the boat ramp. A very smart way to save money. Believe me I tried direct connecting the remote control to the trim/tilt motor and it would NOT work so I had to bit the bullet and get a car solenoid instead of the OEM solenoid. The wires inside the remote control is simply too small to trim/tilt the motor or starting the motor. It is a big heavy powerful motor. It can even tow a skier in the back. I can plane my 17 feet long Wellcraft boat at only 20 miles an hour. It is old but functional.

I wonder how long it took that switch to melt.
I just wish I could hear you properly
What a mess. Just do it right with correct parts instead of jerry-rigging it.
Dear God 😂 my 4year old could do a better video on this
Embarrassing wiring job
