You need to crimp with the flat side of the connector. You’ll get a more secure crimp.

I have the same problem with all that gunk on my exact same model evinrude as your. So you believe it was the switch relay needed replaced ?

Yeah that’s all it was. New relays and it works like a charm

My trim goes up and down from the throttle but only goes up from the motor. Any idea as to why it won’t go down from the motor?

My guess would be the motor switch itself

Yeah the throttle switch works fine. I’d trouble shoot the switch on the motor. Might be working or the switch
