I think the George Daniels Springcase Tourbillion is worth a video of its own. Such a special piece made by a legendary watchmaker.
That is a special watch HRM. It would be days of research to do right. Jeeeze, you make it difficult to be watch pundit! Take care, Bill
WOW ! What a story. I had no idea about about this 2499. Thanks Bill.
Like you Don, it was a new story (and watch!) to me as well. Take care, Bill
Incredible story behind some of these watches, its another reason i love buying preowned! You never know what life they have lived before you
Funny HRM, you have a point, but once I get a watch, I never think of who might have had it before-a saint or a demon? I just hope they took good care of the watch. Take care, Bill.
Great story Bill. I really enjoyed all the detail. That watch would sell at auction for over 5 million easy.
The "celebrity" premium can get nuts...especially on top of a watch like the 2499. Take care, Bill
Swiss Courts of Appeal .
Working at Glacial speed .
She’s not getting any younger , you know .
Thanks for keeping this story fresh in
Eyes of Watch Collectors .
It would marvelous if this returns to Yoko Ono ❤
That would be a Beautiful , Timely Justice ✌️
Thanks for sharing the story Dr.!
My pleasure Javi! Take care, Bill
Great story Bill thanks 👍❤️🏴
Great video, and story Bill. You are the modern day Rod Serling, because that story is straight out of the Twilight Zone
Betst regards, Brian
My work coordinating Lyrique has put me in a horological Twilight Zone, Brian. Did you get your notice your watch is on the way? Take care, Bill
@watchartsci Yes I did, thank you. It's scheduled to arrive sometime on Monday.
Hello Bill Fantastic and intriguing watch story! The Patek 2499 is such a desirable piece in itself, and then you add JL etc. at autction with all the stars aligned my guess 15-20 million watch especially if the proceeds going to a good charity just my guess. Great video cant wait for the conclusion.
Hey Dom, thanks man. I do wonder what will happen with it eventually-she's 91 now (...finally someone older than I am...) and so the final fate of the watch may end up with the inheritor's decision. Take care, Bill
Thanks for the story & G'evening Mr Bill 🤠 .
Hey IdleTime! If it's evening, it's a bedtime story! Take care, Bill
loved the story----------------what's the value without John Lennon provenance? thanks Bill
Thank David-the 2499 seems to start around $130k with no celebrity ownership. Out of my range! Take care, Bill
I missed the live Bill, sorry I was taking a nap.
Hey Dr. Bob, my live chats have been known to induce naps...so you may have just been early. Take care, Bill
Paul Newman's Daytona was so well known even before it came up for auction. So don't see how this would come close to it.
Some estimate this can be 5x higher
Guess for now, we will never know. Doing the math $75M. No way
Perry, the Beatles are far better known than Paul Newman; so you never know how much someone is willing to pay for a watch, especially one so much better than a Daytona. Take care, Bill
@watchartsci my point is no one equates expensive watches to Lennon. So regardless how popular he still might be, it will limit the appeal. But who knows n maybe one day we will find out.
So does this "Mr. A" still have physical posession of the watch, or has it been deposited with the court?
I believe it is in the custody of Mr. A's attorney until the appeal is complete, Jonnie. Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci Thank you.
The value of the watch is between $20 million - $70 million given by Jay Fielden in his June 24, 2024 New Yorker Magazine story about the watch
Saw that story in my New Yorker and thought: I know someone who'll love that story!
Yes, Jerry, that's where I got it from. It's the only subscription that we have (...other than the Sunday NYT). Take care, Bill
great story, Bill. Been away for a while - nice to see you again
Welcome back Rel! Take care, Bill
John Lennon; the ultimate champagne socialist….he loved working class Liverpool so much that he decamped to Manhattan….🤣🤣….🇬🇧
Agree, love their contradictions.
"Imagine no possesions" when a whole floor of their hotel used for fur coat storage.
Never paid much attention to the Beatles (or any other musician's) politics-just their watches Mike. Take care, Bill
Rich people don’t bother me, rich people using their money to buy undue influence over public policy to protect their gains at the expense of the common good bothers me. Flaunt your wealth all you want, just don’t buy my representation in government out from under me or we’re gonna have a problem.
@@ctdavis3277 Hugely amusing comment. I’m sure you’re terribly angry/annoyed/concerned about something obviously very political…..I wish I could help you….🤣…🇬🇧
I think easily £500,000 in a wide open auction.
Gynechiatrist, wouldn't it be more like £5,000,000? Take care, Bill
im a big fan of the Beatles, ive seen paul in a secret concert in paris. Great story. Can u do one on Jay-z or John Mayer. I think 2 popular videos
Hi Bobbe, thanks man! I do mainly watches-this was just an interesting watch story. The drummer in KISS I believe is a big collector too. Take care, Bill
Nice summer "titfa" Bill.Stay cool unlike Mr Lennon who was quite a nasty piece of work.
My titfa tat is my summer lid, Richard.😎 Glad you like it. Take care, Bill
