@Delman you'd have no problem cutting dandelions with this trimmer. I filmed some of this but didn't include it since the video was already 12 minutes. It has a difficult time when grass is long and there is a lot of it. It did ok when there wasn't a lot to trim. Thanks for the comment.

I completely agree. I bought one to tryout. I figured it wouldn't work all that well but it performed much worse than I thought. I can't believe they put something out this bad.
Excellent review and video. I saw this on tv and wrote down the nu. To order one but after your review, I will not waste my money. Again excellent review and video. My b and d battery powered trimmer would have trimmed that tree in a minute or less.
I just got this trimmer, and you installed the zip ties upside down.....could be why you were having a problem with it stalling out. Yes, totally agree that this would be great for someone in a townhouse who has very little to trim up. I live on 3+ acres and I guess my grass is pretty sturdy because it wouldn't even complete the trim around the mailboxes without draining the battery. It is light weight for older folks.
I think they can be installed either way. The problem with the trimmer is the motor. Not enough strength to keep up with the demand. You're right. This could be good for very small areas.
at $49-$70 you can buy an electric trimmer that works perfectly. Homelite at Home Depot, for example. I have a trimmer, but was offered bionic for $19 and I almost got it just to have it a back up. Glad I decided to find this video first, because it saved me the hassle of buying an unnecessary Toy. Thanks
Bionic trimmer is no good. Electric trimmers in the $50-$70 price range. I've seen a few battery operated ones for just over $100. Better to spend a little more money and get something a lot better.
But they don’t use zip ties and have to be bumped to get the cord out, not to mention the re stringing is a pain so buy this POS and just pretend like you’re trimming your lawn!
Bought this last year but still in the box. Probably should just return it as I don’t believe this will work for my thick yard. Thank you for the review.
Thank you so much for this video. I recently bought my first home & (obviously) need to tend to the yard. I've never used a weed eater & I'm finding them quite intimidating. I figured this might be the tool for me. Glad I didn't waste my money!

@JeffReviews4u from another view, I think this trimmer would be perfect for what I've been searching for! I have major back issues so I must do most of my gardening seated on a garden scooter with handheld tools. With every spring comes a gazillion fresh weeds in my flower beds and I think this bionic trimmer would eliminate most of the hand pulling. Since the weeds are young and tender the zipties should be strong enough to handle them. The adjustable handle would easily accommodate my seated position too. Maybe it's not the sharpest tool in the box but in my situation, I think it may just be the right tool for my problem. Thanks for your review, I enjoyed your candid opinion.
Just discovered your channel. Thank you so much, Jeff. You’ve been really helpful in helping me make a decision on whether to purchase this gadget. I’ll be viewing all your other videos now.

This is an old review so I don't know if the product has been updated but I got a bell howell beside me and it looks different, the moter housing looks bigger and the power switch is a hold in button on the handle just above the trigger, yours looks like a cheap chinese copy made by wei xiang, I wounder if it was that but with counterfeit packaging, did your have bell howell on the handle like mine does?
I got one of these just today. But it came with blades not zip ties also the 2 poles had to be put together and the adjusting bolt couldn't adjust it was glued together. I have contacted support so waiting for a reply. I don't like the ones with string they are annoying.
Great review Jeff. I saw this advertised on TV and thought right off the bat that it was a joke. I trim 5 acres of yard and more than 300 trees with a gas trimmer and am always on the lookout for something that is lighter and shorter as I am 5' 2". This turned out to be just as bad as I thought. I will not buy. Thanks again for testing it out.
I have a hard time finding a good trimmer. Thought I'd give this a try but no good. I am going to be trying one on wheels to see how that works. I'll let you know when that posts. Thanks for stopping by.
Any idea on the specs of the battery on this thing? Volts, mA, chemistry. I read online that it takes a lithium 123 battery and I dont buy that as that's a 3v photo battery for a camera. If I see this in my walmart I'm going to mod it so it's crazy fast. 12 volts maybe. I did that with a swivel sweeper.
The specs are: Battery pack voltage 3.7 V Battery pack capacity 3000mAH Speed 9500 RPM Noise level 85db Maximum watts 32 W Hope that helps. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
@@Jeffreviews4u Hey Jeff, I'm going to have a peek inside of this thing. I have a feeling it might have a 3.7V to 12 volt converter inside so I might hotwire it to run on 12 volts if it has a 12 volt motor inside. I lost or used up the zip ties that came with this so I use the black ones you can buy at Harbor Freight and trim them down.
You're better off returning it and spending a little more money on a battery operated one from Home Depot or Lowes. Thanks for checking out the review.

well i just trashed 30 bux. this to me is the equal of the kid's plastic mower i had in the 70's when a kid wants to be like his dad mowing the grass on the weekend.
Yeah, in my opinion thus was not worth $30. That being said a few tweaks and this could be a good product. As is - no good. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

I have worked for Bell and Howell for 18 years, this as seen on tv stuff is made by totally separate companies, we have nothing to do with theses things. A company who owned us in the 90s licensed our name out to these companies. For decades now Bell and Howell has been in the business of producing high speed mail processing equipment, and a service organization.
Haha. Well I do need a hair cut - but I'll refrain from using the Bionic Trimmer. Sadly this item wasn't very good. Glad you could save the $40. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Bought one on Ebay with a money back guarantee, total waste of time and money. Same problems. When I asked for refund I was offered $5.00. Had to push through numerous emails and had to lodge complaint with Ebay to get money back. Went to Bunnings, $80 for an Ozito battery unit, really happy.
You know what's funny. Some sellers on Ebay used my photos to advertise the product. I am not affiliated with them at all and reported it to Ebay. Good for you getting your money back. $5 refund is an insult. Great tip on the $80 trimmer. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I got frustrated with it when the plastic bolt adjustment, wouldn't budge. I had to take two pliers to separate the two halves. The motor is weak, and it will 'stall' at the drop of a hat. Bell & Howell should have stuck with making camera's, they sure don't make good trimmers. I just threw away $29.88.
Im 5' 2" I dont think you were holding it right. Go from top down on weeds and I heard you hitting the stone so of course itsgoing to break. Try some longer stronger zipties that you cut to fit fromdollar store cheap or supply store. Maybe if you didnt have guard on you could use alittle longer zipties and grass wouldnt get stuck
The big problem I had was that the motor wasn't strong enough. It also paused occasionally which is why the grass kept getting twisted around. For me this was not helpful. I'm glad it works for you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I am so used to the big gas weed wackers when I was a teenager that I felt this product suck. It stops when tangle and is underpowered. However, looking at the specification of just the motor and power, it should work better. I suggest removing the cutoff protection, larger battery, longer pole and go for a dead man switch. This is a old mans opinion.
Sounds like "this old man" needs to work for Bell and Howell. Those are great suggestions. I had great expectations for this product that just didn't happen. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
@@Jeffreviews4u Here is a update. The battery power system has a delay when changing power cell to cell within the battery. You can tell when you run weed eater. This millsecond delay causes the cutting edge to slow down. This delay in cutting also causes the material to tangle verus being blown clear of the cutting mechanism.
I was going to get one tomorrow - thanks for the warning. I'm so disappointed. I'm sick of the big lawn mower and all the crap in my garage. Thought I'd try to use my big trimmer to mow grass - so heavy [ great for big jobs though] didn't work out. Bought a jerry Baker hand mower about 10 years ago and no one can push it without exhaustion in 2 minutes. Only payed 250.00 for it but was a big disappointment. I usually love his stuff . I'm getting older and don't have the patience I once had. If anyone has a suggestion I'd appreciate it. There must be something on the market that isn't , big, needing gas etc.,.
There are a few electric, light weight trimmers on the market. They are in a higher price bracket - around $150. A couple of the big drill companies make them (ryobi etc.) Sadly this one didn't exactly perform as claimed.
Bought one and it would not even cut any grass. It would run until the grass was touched, then it would turn off. Trying to return at this point. Junk.
We just got there released here in Australia right now! And to be honest my first impressions weren't sold, so I watched this review and props to you!!! It's about $59.95 out here via mail order only which is even more inconvenient!! The motor sound reminds me of any of 80's battery toy motors around that era, you know the type that you'd used to your finger into?!.. Great... Might as well use a LEGO Technic motor for props?!! Cheers for the review etc.
Wow, and I thought it was expensive here in the US. $60 is way too much for this trimmer. You'd be better off with the legos - hahaha. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
I think they stuck a battery powered fan motor in a inexpensive plastic trimmer it's unfortunate because bell and howell do make good products the company has had issues with certain products as they all do but bell and howell has a bit more of a reputation for making good stuff I purchased a bladeless portable handheld fan with led lighting and it was perfect it did exactly what it was supposed to do it lasted for probably 4 or 5 years
This definitely was not what I expected from Bell and Howell, especially for the price. I think the idea is good but the overall quality and functionality was not. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Wished I had seen video first before I bought one of these trimmers . Everything said is TRUE ... I dislike it tremendously it doesn’t work stops running for no reason. Ugh ....
I would never finish my yard with the Bionic Trimmer, not to mention my chiropractic bill. Too bad this little unit didnt have more power and a longer handle. Thanks for the comment!
I will admit I definitely laughed out loud when I read your comment. Thus product could have been more appropriately labeled by Fisher price. Although it does cut grass, it has a difficult time. Thanks for the comment.
I HAVE A WORX TRIMMER,THAT CAME WITH A BLOWER AND 2 20 WATTS ION RECHARGABLE BATTERIES, THAT WORKS REAL GOOD, BUT THIS THING DOES NOT WORK GOOD! YOU MIGHT TRY USING LINE TIED IN A KNOT IN BOTH HOLES OF THIS BIONIC TRIMMER, WHICH MIGHT WORK A LOT BETTER T1HAN THE ZIP TIES! I GOT MY WORX WEED WACKER WITH A BLOWER AND 2 LITHIUM BATTERIES ON SALE AT LOWE'S FOR 95 BUCKS PLUS MY VETERAN'S DISCOUNT!!!
The WORX line has a lot of great products. Glad to hear you have had success. The bionic trimmer did not do very well. Thanks for your service to our country!
That was my thoughts. Add longer zip ties. Still may purchase and try longer ties. If not, I can always return it. And I'm only 5'1". So perfect height handle for me.
You are better off saving the 30 bucks and keep using the weed trimmer you already have, or spending the extra 130 dollars for a 40 volt ryobi cordless string trimmer with battery and charger that does a so much better job at your local Home Depot or Lowe’s.
I agree with you. This little trimmer just wasn't strong enough to get through the grass. Those ryobi units are pretty sweet and will definitely get the job done. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
I bought one, and the one I bought has NO on / off button near the charger as seen on your post , but instead on the handle as a press in button , I left it charging over night, and NOTHING !!! does not start , its fully charged as the button is now GREEN not RED however nothing .... USELESS
Sounds like you got the dud of the duds. Now that being said I do like the switch on the handle - only if it actually worked. thanks for sharing your experience.
They have a great idea but they need to go back to the drawing board. Use less cheap plastic for starts and make a stronger motor but still light weight they might have something also keep with the blade idea not the twist ties.
I bought one but have not tried it out myself yet. After seeing the video I got cold and regret that I have bought it. It is more like a toy than a tool.
I bought the updated version on Temu that uses plastic blades and metal still trash the handle wouldn't go together but I managed to rig it up tried to cut grass after I charged it it would just turn off most the time you tried cutting the grass or and weeds . Good thing is the handle kinda broke while trying to figure out how to assemble and Temu gave me a refund without returning it back to them they said to keep it or donate the thing . Witch I'll keep it for small jobs I'll try to hack it I'll first make a new handle that's stronger and mess with the rest some how if not it's trash 🗑️.
Glad I saw this! Was just about to purchase this thing. Thanks.

@@susanhumphreys6708 If you purchased on Ebay, lodge a complaint.
My son uses it to help, great safe for him though!
Very cool - thanks for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.
Thanks for the review. When I saw the price, I thought " this is too good to be true" and became suspicious. I will not be purchasing this item.
I really wanted it to work. Sadly it did not. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Wow thanks for sharing :)
Glad to help!
I wouldn't hafta bend down, I'm 4''9 🤣HAHAHA🤣 .... Thank You for saving be $30.00....
Haha, the pole on this trimmer was way too short. Definitely not worth the price. Thanks for the comment.
Saved me $30!
Glad to hear it! I love saving people money. Thanks for taking the time to let me know.
It costs 45-50 € in Europe. Bigger save for me
Its suitable for what I need

That's an amazing observation. Thanks for sharing!
Not enough power, but nice idea if it had the right motor and extension
That's right. The concept is good but definitely not enough power, and what's up with the short pole? Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
I think it's not a good one
I agree with you. I was pretty disappointed in the overall performance. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Thanks. I'll keep using my
electric one
There are battery operated units out there in the $100 - $150 price range that do a pretty good job. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
You're welcome
@@Jeffreviews4u thank you for taking the time to reply, very nice of you. I'll look into the ones you suggested - not a bad price range. Thanks again.
Let me know how they work out. Thanks again for checking it out!
Thanks for your review! I think I'll pass on this one
That's a good choice...this thing definitely doesn't perform as advertised.
Yeah I seen someone selling open box for 12$ and now I'm going to pass. Thanks for the review.
Bought one and it would not even cut any grass. It would run until the grass was touched, then it would turn off. Trying to return at this point. Junk.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Have a great day and stay safe.
The thing sounds like a remote car.
The motor is sure small enough. Ha!
Yes, and it works like one too.
Thank you Jeff again! Review is 👍👍💜 Bionic Trimmer is 👎👎👎👎🤬🤢🤮💩😷 and middle finger...Lol!🤪
hahaha, yeah this trimmer is pretty terrible.
Jeff reviews4u It's a Toy
I think they stuck a battery powered fan motor in a inexpensive plastic trimmer it's unfortunate because bell and howell do make good products the company has had issues with certain products as they all do but bell and howell has a bit more of a reputation for making good stuff
I purchased a bladeless portable handheld fan with led lighting and it was perfect it did exactly what it was supposed to do it lasted for probably 4 or 5 years
This definitely was not what I expected from Bell and Howell, especially for the price. I think the idea is good but the overall quality and functionality was not. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Wished I had seen video first before I bought one of these trimmers . Everything said is TRUE ... I dislike it tremendously it doesn’t work stops running for no reason. Ugh ....
I love the idea of this trimmer but sadly it just doesn't work. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Would take you all day to finish your yard🤔🤔🤔 nice house
I would never finish my yard with the Bionic Trimmer, not to mention my chiropractic bill. Too bad this little unit didnt have more power and a longer handle. Thanks for the comment!
what company makes these....bull and foul?
I will admit I definitely laughed out loud when I read your comment. Thus product could have been more appropriately labeled by Fisher price. Although it does cut grass, it has a difficult time. Thanks for the comment.
The low $29.95 price made me 🤔 wonder if this thing is worth it.
This need a lot if work in order for this to be worth it. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
I purchased one recently. It is of no use. Doesn't cut any grass at all.
Yeah, these are junk. I like the concept but it didn't perform as the infomercial depicted. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Don't waste your money peeps almost busted my ribs with laughter feeble grass strimmer .
Lol...it is quite laughable. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
Thanks.
You're welcome. Thanks for the comment.
Nice to get some good advice before plunging ahead with a purchase you have to return by mail if it fails.
Thanks!!
You're welcome. This was a disappointing little unit. Hopefully they will have one that works as described.
Just seen it on tv thought I'd check out a you tube review ... and the concussion is it's 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩👍🏻 thanks for video
This is definitely one of the worst products that I've purchased in the ASOT aisle. It was very disappointing. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
I just returned mine. It did not work
It's a bummer. I wish this product would have performed as demonstrated.
@@Jeffreviews4u right. I was looking forward to using it
so was I, maybe the Bionic Trimmer II will be better (if they make a second one)
I would've removed the guard and added longer ties
thats a great tip! it will probably work better. I just need a longer handle.
thanks for sharing.
That was my thoughts. Add longer zip ties. Still may purchase and try longer ties. If not, I can always return it. And I'm only 5'1". So perfect height handle for me.
The problem is the little motor just can't handle the load. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Mickey mouse gadget 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lol. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
Is this why ToysRus shutdown?
Hahaha. It is more of a toy...lol. thanks for stopping by and commenting.
They have a great idea but they need to go back to the drawing board. Use less cheap plastic for starts and make a stronger motor but still light weight they might have something also keep with the blade idea not the twist ties.
To good to be true
You can say that again. This one is disappointing. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
What a peace of crap! Thanks so much from saving me spending money for this!
yeah, I was very disappointed with this item. It just didnt cut the grass!
I bought one but have not tried it out myself yet. After seeing the video I got cold and regret that I have bought it. It is more like a toy than a tool.
Yeah I want a Tesla weedeater.C'mon Elon,what's the holdup?
ha, it would be the only Tesla in my price range. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Nope. The tree base trimming cinched it. Get the Worx. I did.
Kind of scary some of the as seen on tv things
They sure have a lot of strange items, they have many fun ones too. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Gracias por la información, realmente es un juguete, pero puede ser útil por ejemplo visitar cementerio y cortar la grama de ahí.
They said the handle extends... it doesn't. I*'m 5'9"......I'm not breaking my back..
Well it does extend just not very far - ha. Definitely back breaking for me. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
@@Jeffreviews4u idk maybe I expected it to extend a little more
