Just curious, can you use the Vacutrim to vacuum up the trimmings on the counter it doesn't catch? In other words, does it double as a small vacuum as well?
That would be a saving grace but I feel like it’d perform similarly and vacuum up part of the hair and you’d be fighting a never ending battle to finish it off. At that point a dedicated mini vacuum/Dustbuster would probably be more effective than a combo clipper/vacuum
@@Freakinreviews Bought it based on that. A solid trimmer that requires nothing else for clean up is way more convenient then if it was only reducing falling hair by half. Thanks for replying!
The reason the Wahl is shaving longer is cause it’s using standard sizes for cutting, so a number 2 is actually 6mm, and a 1 is 3mm, the other trimmers measurement are in milimeters

It's probably not the same units. Whal would be in multiples or 1/8 of an inch and vaccum trim looks like it's in mm. 1/8 in is just over 3 mm. So he should have started with 6mm and then 3mm.
@@frankb5728 which is a bit annoying, it would be much nicer to either use a consistent numbering method or just outright say the exact length. I thought each number was supposed to represent 1/8 of an inch but clearly not every brand is following the unwritten rules.
6:38 I would have to disagree. After the first round, they were definitely not the same. The vacutrim was noticeably closer after the first round. As someone else pointed out, the vacutrim numbers are the measurements in mm (2mm, 1mm, skin) while the Wahl is using standard sizes. I'm not sure if the instructions stated this, but this is definitely what it seems like. That being said, the vacutrim did a great job at vacuuming up the trimmed hairs, especially since it is an "As Seen On TV" product. I'll be interested in seeing it in a yearly update.
1st round closeness was way different. You could see a noticeable difference. Less hair 2nd and 3rd time on vacutrim because it took it almost all off 1st time
Here's a tip for you: A lot of those trimmer sets come with those cheap plastic aprons, which I use to drape over the sink, using the handles to cover the faucet. Awesome video!
All this time I thought you were a professional actor that was hired to do these videos. I guess I was wrong, however you are amazingly smooth and well spoken. I use a Wahl Balding. You need to plug it in, it's heavy as hell and it has the ergonomics of a brick but it works marvelously. I should attach the hose of a regular vacuum cleaner to it for maximum rusticity. Lol
Had a vacuum trimmer from Phillips norelco, biggest flaw was then entire cutting blade assembly attached with 2 weak plastic tabs on each side and if you pulled it off or dropped it and broke those it was useless. If this works as well as that without that failure then it'll be worth the price.
Just found your channel today, and so far I'm enjoying it. To me, it looked as if the Vaccutrimmer did a closer shave faster than the Wahl and faster. I really want the Mandelbrot poster on your wall, too. Lol
I don't have facial hair but I do use a Body Groomer for manscaping. For what you paid for this product, my body groomer was about the same price but alas, body hair all over the place when finished and I use a real vacuum hose to clean up the hairs. However, the vacutrim does say not for "that area", which is really where some of us need to manscape!
I kind of liked the idea but I can’t help but feel like what’s the point if it still drops 1/3 of the hair. You still have to clean up, and it’s not really much easier to pick up a slightly smaller amount of hair. I just put down a previously used towel, then shake the hair off outside and wash the towel. Works well and the only extra step it adds is the quick shake outside, still gotta clean the towel either way
@@barcham yeah basically the same concept but personally I think a paper towel is too small for me personally. It would get the majority but I’d still have to come back and swipe all stragglers up that didn’t fall in the smaller paper towel.
I bought this based on your review & I absolutely love it. Love the vacuum feature so much. Normally I would need to shower to get it off the stables. No shower needed. Highly recommend 👌

Just ordered the deluxe version using your link for the original normal version off amazon. I hope you still get the "trim"...from that sale even though it's not the same model. In my middle age I cut everything close because it all grows uneven now; plus male pattern baldness. Haircuts at a store are useless and feel like a waste of money. I don't like buzzing it all off (trimming) on a daily basis because of the MESS it makes with my hair clippers and separate beard trimmer. As a result after a week or two I look like a homeless person. I've literally had employees follow me around in "BevMo" before. The time it takes to clean it up is three times as long with all the fine/short hairs that fall everywhere. A vacuum design may make this more feasible (daily). I just hope it's designed to last (quality). Thanks for the review.
I would like to see some reviews of alarm clocks. I really don't like using my phone for my alarm and would like to see some realistic testing of more modern alarm clocks as there are so many out there now. I have been using a Remington Vacuum Trimmer HKVAC-2000 for about 15 years. I love it, but it was discontinued a long time ago. It picks up more than 90% of the hair. They made a newer model, but I've heard it's not as good. When I let my hair grow out too long, I like to use it to trim my head hair down to stubble and use a razor to give me a close shave. I also have a bald head and a Van dyke. A Goatee is just the chin hair and no mustache. There is a whole thing with facial hair purists in naming of beards and mustaches, I don't understand it but I don't like getting them upset.
I was about to say, those are some beard goals my dude. Been working on one for 6months just to get something similar to where your at. I could never shave it now that my work allows it.
It looks like the vacuum feature worked significantly better on the smaller clippings. So I'm wondering if you trimmed every day with it, would it catch almost everything?
I have a Vacutrim and I love it. I like that it is quieter than my other trimmers and I get a nice cool breeze across my face as I use it. Plus no hair on the sink.
I would say either the attachments aren't measured the same as the knob numbers, and/or the fact that it has a vacuum means it's standing the hairs up before cutting them, which would result in a closer trim. A normal trimmer is only cutting what sticks up enough on its own to be cut.
Curious how well this would work for haircuts. I know the vacuum would fill up quick but if you took off the cover. I currently use an AC powered Wahl trimmer/haircutting kit and works well.
Another good review and I bought one based on your review. I wear wigs and plan to use this to keep my head closely cropped. One thing is (since I know how precise you are) it is "fewer" hairs not "less" as things you can count like hair or whiskers are fewer and things you can't count are less. Whiskers are a close call but in this instance, you are measuring them.
You're really felt it was important correct less and fewer as if it mattered we all understood exactly what he was saying people like this are annoying gotta always find something to correct
I have noticed that the settings on trimmers with an adjustable guard are about half length of the replaceable guards. So a 2 on the Wahl would be closer to a 4 on the vacutrim.
I've used vacuum trimmers for years and this is the first one that sounds like a vacuum. I was hoping you would have compared this to another vacuum trimmer but I'm not sure what's out there. Personally I've always felt that vacuum trimmers work not because of suction, but because the opening is big enough for the hair to fall in
I’ve had a philips norelco version of the vacuum trimmer for more than a decade and they work great. They catch way more than 50%, but yes, they don’t catch all. I’d put it more at 80%. You should have actually dumped vacuumed up trimming to compare. One thing to note, the numbers on the vacuum trimmer are millimeters and the trimmer are guard settings which don’t equate to mm. Go back and look at your first pass and you’ll see that the vacuum is much closer of a trim.
Just to be picky, the 2 dial on the Vacutrim gave a much closer shave than the Wahl, so you will def need to adjust the settings differently. In fact my question is whether the settings on the Vacutrim actually even work that well, because the #2 setting didn’t leave much at all, and a few more passes might have cleaned your face completely. I’m curious whether you can achieve a scruff look with the Vacutrim. If the settings do work better after adjustments, the thing that would perfect it would be making it waterproof. Great review!
About making it waterproof, as in using it in the shower? Great idea but water would probably enter the chamber through the shaver's vacuum vents thus ruining the device. 🙏♐
Been hoping you would do this one as I wondered if it would be the usual as seen on tv junk Looks decent at least. To me it looked like it trimmed shorter even in the first round
I thought it was shorter even in the first round too. It looked to me like he could have done a 3 with the Vacutrim vs a 2 with the Wahl to get more nearly the same results.
One thing that makes a big difference is cutting head hair, which is fine ;and facial hair which is coarse and will blunt cheaper trimmers quickly. We'll see if the vacu has cheap or better blades. The wahl and the kambrook will keep on for years, and you can get them sharpened.
I think a mistake you are making is the vacuum trim numbers do not match the Wahl attachment numbers. That is why the 1st pass was so much shorter than the Wahls 1st pass
The settings are not the same on each shaver. The no. 2 setting was like the Whal no. 1. It was an uneven match, but in the end it worked. I'd be more curious as to how long the charge lasts and how the weight feels in actual use.
I had a vacuuming beard trimmer for a long time, the only reason I don't use it anymore is that the battery eventually died. The only downside I experienced, if you can call it that, was that they require the slightest bit more maintenance since you have to periodically dump out the whisker tray, on the other hand the reduced mess more than makes up for that. Vacuuming trimmers are a gimmick, but they're a gimmick that works.
Can this be used as a body trimmer/groomer for manscaping too...of course NOT in the shower. Please inform if you would. Thanks! Happy Holidays to you and yours friend...🙏♐
The goatee looks great, maybe you should keep it. It is just worth noticing the vacuum trimmer is in mm instead of numbers from wahl (each number adds 3 mm). 🙂 Can't use the vacutrim as a "mess reference" for the other times you used in comparison to the wahl because you're comparing 1 mm with 3mm plus those vacuum systems usually work better on short bits. I like the chamber of the vacutrim is larger than my old philips, which has a vacuum but it's basically useless. It would be nice to have something with a stronger vacuum and an even larger collection chamber. Anyways, I am thankful we have many wireless devices these days, no more dealing with annoying cords. 😁
I have an older Braun I think and a newer Wahl vacuum trimmer. The older one collects hair better but the Wahl cuts better. I should see if I can replace the head on the older Braun
I like the vacuutrim better. My husband was leary about buying one but after he watched this video he's gonna order one. As always thank you for the reviews. You look good with goatee ,I like it .
EH, half left means I still have to do work cleaning up instead of just a quick single wipe with a cloth. I feel like if it isn't amazing at picking up hair, then you're better off going for a razor that is going to give a better shave with more options. Still interesting though. I never knew something like this existed
7:27 that my biggest gripe about using electric shavers no matter how meny passes you do or how careful you are it's never going to get smooth, that fact is one of the reasons I started growing my beard out.
They vaccutrim cuts shorter on all the settings, can you vacuum up the ones it does drop, and also will it continue to vacuum up good after a few months it will be interesting to see the year update on this.
Maybe the suction is reduced when it's blocked up with hair. Try emptying it out halfway through your trim and see if that doesn't increase the percentage of hair captured
I bought the Vacutrim after reading great reviews, and I was disappointed. I want only stubble on my neck, and it doesn't accomplish that, even on the 1 setting. In fact, it didn't seem to cut any neck hair at all. I'm considering returning it.
Id like to see a review of the bakblade and see how that holds up. Im forever looking for a really good electric razor and so far ive been using the norelco one blade but am curious about the bakblade
I luv how guys make faces when shaving facial hair. My husband recently purchased a new Wahl after many yrs of success, however ,he repaired a few tears in the cord, thanks to fluffy the cat.
A #2 trimmer guard is "two" eighths of an inch, or roughly 6mm. The vacuum razor probably was using 1mm increments which is why they cut differently. (I guess)
I just ordered one of these. I'm sure some hairs fly away from the direction of the vacuum after being cut. I did not think every whisker would go in the vacuum.
Hey, just an observation, but the vaccumm trimmer looks like it didn't cut a full 2. A two is hair that is 1/8 of an inch long and that vacum trimmer looks like it was too short.
The reason why you're not getting a closer cut with your Wahl shaver is because the blade is worn already. A test that alternates them from new would be a better barometer of how good they are.
R.I.P. to his facial hair. But on the plus side, it made this review so much more exciting to watch. The vacuum trimmer thing won this round. Facial hair never stood a chance, 😂.
It would seem the shorter the hairs are, the better it vacuums them up, which makes complete sense. I personally only do general maintenance which means a lot of tiny bits of hair, not really whiskers. It might work great for that... Cleaning up hairs is a B. The more there are, the harder it gets. When it's just a few, it's actually rather easy but when it's a lot, sometimes it feels like you're just pushing them around and some get left behind with every move you make. Even if it doesn't get all of them, I feel like it'll still make clean-up tons easier.
How much hear the vacum cleaner collects depends on the length of the hair you cut, the longer the less that can enter the narrow space to be sucked up. In Europe it costs less than 25€ from a well known company without a oil bottle because they use better non oiled blades, titanium blades I think
i have found over the years that trimmers are all about the same and for me it boils down to the battery if it goes bad in less then a year the trimmer isnt good, i dont trim every day or even once a week so if you can only charge the battery less then ten times......

There is my main man with yet another video!!
good speaker and helps a lot with this new tool......................
Can't use the vacutrim as a "mess reference" for the other times you used in comparison to the wahl because you're comparing 1 mm with 3mm plus those vacuum systems usually work better on short bits.
It's not a goatee...it's called a VanDyke! 🙏♐
@@AladdinSaneNYC Not for a layman.
I got the old man one of those bibs you hang on a mirror to collect whiskers. They work great.
They vaccutrim cuts shorter on all the settings, can you vacuum up the ones it does drop, and also will it continue to vacuum up good after a few months it will be interesting to see the year update on this.
cool test and the vacutrim is pretty cool i like the vacuum but it looks bulky , if my norelco bodygroomer gives out i'd probably buy one.
I'm invested now. Must see how it holds up. I hate cleaning whiskers off the bathroom.
Maybe the suction is reduced when it's blocked up with hair. Try emptying it out halfway through your trim and see if that doesn't increase the percentage of hair captured
You can get a vacuum eyes Wahl razor that does the same thing and has the built-in measurement system for pretty much the same price at Walmart
I bought the Vacutrim after reading great reviews, and I was disappointed. I want only stubble on my neck, and it doesn't accomplish that, even on the 1 setting. In fact, it didn't seem to cut any neck hair at all. I'm considering returning it.
What do you suggest for a head shaver, that can almost get it shaved like? Thanks and another awesome review, RIP beard
Damm it James, another thing I have to buy because of you. LOL Keep up the great videos...
How about doing a comparison of the vacuteim vs the manscaped beard trimmer?
Id like to see a review of the bakblade and see how that holds up. Im forever looking for a really good electric razor and so far ive been using the norelco one blade but am curious about the bakblade
What do you prefer for a smooth head shave
That was a realistic test in my book.
i recently bought one from amazon. i love it. u see barley any hair in the sink while trimming ur beard.
Thank you for your sacrifice for this review. Impressive.
Great comparison! I'm curious about reliability between the two. Will the Vacuum Trim last as long as the Wahl?
I luv how guys make faces when shaving facial hair. My husband recently purchased a new Wahl after many yrs of success, however ,he repaired a few tears in the cord, thanks to fluffy the cat.
A #2 trimmer guard is "two" eighths of an inch, or roughly 6mm. The vacuum razor probably was using 1mm increments which is why they cut differently. (I guess)
3:53 Lookin’ like a default RuneScape Character!
I just ordered one of these. I'm sure some hairs fly away from the direction of the vacuum after being cut. I did not think every whisker would go in the vacuum.
Please review skull shaver it's awesome
Which was easier to clean out?
“I don’t really have much of any body hair but I did find a couple places to try it out” Hmm, 😂
The vacutrim side looked shorter on the #2 setting, to me.
That thing would be ideal for trimming the bush in the front yard 😁
R.I.P. to his facial hair.
Only thing left is how long will it last before you have to toss it?
That dial is so genius I can't believe I haven't seen it before.
Wahl makes a vacuum trimmer too. It's been great for me over the years. Best of both worlds. Ha.
i have found over the years that trimmers are all about the same and for me it boils down to the battery if it goes bad in less then a year the trimmer isnt good, i dont trim every day or even once a week so if you can only charge the battery less then ten times......
