How could they not have been huge in the States?? What a tremendous group
Maybe mispronouncing St. Louis a bunch of times in a song didn't endear them very well to the average American listener
An ON PURPOSE mispronounciation...GIve Aussies a break!
Underrated song. For a long time I didn’t even knew this was The Easybeats as it really doesn’t sound like them at all
Sounds more like early AC/DC.
@@algerij It's as heavy as early AC/DC, though it lacks Bon Scott's vulgarities.
If I'm ever at the movies, and this starts to play in the middle of a car chase, I'm going to lose my mind.
Classic rock perfection from The Easybeats !!!
In its death throes with a tired band that had been many hard miles one last kick and what a kick I love this band right up till I don't breathe no more
Proto-AC/DC sound) Thank you all members of The Easybeats)
George Young sets out his stall for his younger brothers.....the verses in this song are all proto-AC/DC!
This is a great song.
Possibly my favourite Easybeats song thank you
This is brilliant. Like so many other Aussie bands of the era, Easybeats are massively underrated.
This crap is far from brilliant. It's rubbish. You really must try to listen to really excellent pop more and learn to discriminate between it and this kind of shite.
@@Glicksman1 you’re entitled to your worthless opinion
@@RhythmicEye Why thank you. Thank you so much.
And since turnabout is fair play, so are you.
That's all Wright that's Stevie
Harry and George were/are serious talent, shows even back then, look at their catalogue. And Stevie belting it out, watch him doing Evie live at the Sydney Opera house in 197?
He played many times at Sydney opera, it was either in 1974 or 1979.
I just checked it out, thanks so much for the lead.
Issued in America on Motown's Rare Earth label, This only bottomed out on Billboard's Top 100 at #100. It was the second single to chart in Billboard's Top 100. A third single, 1966's "Women (Make You Feel Alright") bubbled under on Billboard's charts before the big US hit "Friday On My Mind" in 1967 at Billboard's #16 position. That was pretty much it for The Easybeat's chart singles in the US. Australia and New Zealand treated them much better as a hit group. The spin off band of George Young's younger brothers Angus and Malcolm in the band AC/DC would eventually eclipse The Easybeats in sales and worldwide success.
This is a great song . If want to hear another version of this song go search for The Little River Bands version . They do a fantastic version .
Agreed, I love the LRB version of this
I think I hear Steve Marriot's voice in there. Marvellous.
Steve Marriott wasn't in the Easybeats. I thought he was an English pop artist.
@@briankeogh8898, Steve visited Australia and did back up on this song. They were friends.
He did back up on good times.
Where do you hear it? I think Marriott's style is much more forceful. It sounds too much like Wright.
@@briankeogh8898 Easybeats were pop too. Marriott was in the Small Faces from 1965-68 and Humble Pie, 1969-1975 and 1979-1983.
"LOVE Should Be Taken For GRANTED."
- St. Son."
Proto AC/DC from brother George.
Every song was based on this song. Listen to Marcus Hook Roll Band that's when all 3 Young brothers played together EMI producer was Wally Waller who had just left The Pretty Things then produced 1 album for The Prettys.
True that but you can also hear Skyhooks in here if you listen closely.
Well older brother GEORGE taught Malcolm for sure and most likely Angus all he knew on Guitar. They adapted this one into an early AC/DC HIT.
Tragic that this song was covered by Warhorse with more success than the superior original.
Who horse
This is the Easybeats? A massive horn section? I'd never have known it was them if I heard it blind. It's a well recorded but mediocre song and doesn't sound like them at all, or anyone else, for that matter. It's throwaway studio pop that says nothing lyrically or musically. I wouldn't (and didn't) buy it. They were disappearing before our eyes by this point. You'd really want to hear this one twice?
Imagine as Good Times and St Louis weren't around yet I would have followed Friday with Sorry or I'll make you happy
I'd listen to it a million times! More enjoyable than the other tracks I've heard by them. It's genius.
