Originally released on 4th August 1964, the band's 3rd single You Really Got Me went to number 1 on the UK singles chart and later in the year to number 7 in the US charts. The track is taken from the Kinks self-titled album "Kinks" released in the same year, which also features tracks including All Day And All Of The Night.
Lyrics:
Girl, you really got me goin'
You got me so I don't know what I'm doin'
Yeah, you really got me now
You got me so I can't sleep at night

@@billgonzales8978 I don't think they mean the members of the band. I think they mean the band and it's songs.
i heard their song in a Tony Danza movie in the late 80s KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF MY DAUGHTER
This song was so revolutionary when it was first broadcast on the radio. Nothing like it was ever heard before. The Kinks were so much edgier than the other groups of that day. They remain a very important rock group in the history of music!
They were banned from the US for years because they refused to change the lyrics of Lola. That and union issues…
@@chipsterb4946 Not true. They were banned in late 1965 for union issues relating to showing up late for shows, on stage fights and Ray reportedly clocking a reporter. The ban was lifted in 1970 and the Kinks came back to the charts with LOLA and Apeman from the Lola Vs Powerman lp!

How did England produce so many great bands in the 60s?
And we're lucky to be able to listen to them now, mate. Kinks >>Beatles imo.
Anon San not only in 60 ´s mate .. pink floyd , beatles , ledezeppelin , queen , the who, kinks, clash ,yes, fletwood mack, oasis , blur , rolling stones etc etc etc
Anon San Because they were all listening to the good stuff - The BLUES. They took that old African American music and made it into something of their own.
Anon San Imho it's because they had to listen to the American music and reggae etc. and work out how to do something similar themselves, without a record label pr system to shoehorn them into a mould. Made them inventive - took a razor blade to their speakers to get the rough sound etc. I think Britain and Ireland really had the best rock and roll for this reason - the bands were so individual!
Peter Still the Brits did not have to listen to the Americans. They developed their own sounds. America was not the example to follow.
The Riff, that changed everything
Copped from 50s Chicago electric blues..... steal from the best.
Ron R nah, the first to use it was from a Western swing group. Look up bob wills with the song called Barnard blues. Recorded in 1947. Almost 20 years before this.
