As a Texas native, I think some important context for Buc-ee's is that they don't exist in the cities themselves, they're out about 30 minutes down the highway at least. Depending on which way you're going, Buc-ees becomes either the last marks or first signs of civilization between miles of pure open road. They have so much to sell because they're a goddamn oasis in the desert that is Texas.
Indiana has something Similar, Huggy Bear. It’s a giant convenience store, gas station, restaurant and motel. It has it all. It’s the mother of convenience.
Also, as a Latina, Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of a victory against the French during the Battle of Puebla, which Mexico was very much not prepared for or expected to win. I won't pretend to know the specific history of it being celebrated, but I do know that, where I live, we use it as an excuse to further celebrate our culture. And to party, because you can never have too many excuses to party.

We have some great food, art, music, cultural, and interesting ethnic crossovers (despite all the anti-immigration shit), but while we didn't INVENT the idea of "polite is different than nice", some people around here certainly mastered it.

I grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas, where the first Buc-ees was founded. The founder, Arthur "Beaver" Aplin III ran for city council here when I was little. The anecdote I've always heard about Beaver is that people used to make fun of him to his ex-wife because he's kind of short, and at one point, his ex-wife stood up for him and said "He's the tallest man in Brazoria County when he stands on his wallet."
I recently went to a Bucees and got a pulled pork sandwich and chicken salad sandwich after about 4 days of not eating because of how much work I was doing. Its been almost two months now and I think about those sandwiches every single day. I've never craved something more in my life.

As an Uber driver, the reporting system is an absolute joke and needs to be investigated by the government. Rider or driver can report anything at any time without evidence. As someone from Texas, the only thing truly great about buccee's are how clean they keep their restrooms Otherwise it feels like the walmart of gas stations. Hey woolie, bucees just broke a record for opening the biggest gas station, it’s in luling (a lil over an hour south of Austin). The pilgrimage must be made
The main fans are middle-aged or older Texans. My Aunts for 7. That being said beautiful, always clean bathrooms and fresh served bbq, bakery, and etc. They actually have the same really delicious gummy bears that HEB sells. Good quality snacks and meals during your long ass journey across Texas.
Ooo tattoo talk! Neat. Yeah to this day the most painful tattoo I've had was on my shoulderblade of all places. Because it was getting by my spine at one point. After that, the rest of my tattoos were NOTHING in comparison. Took a nap during one even. But yeah the xenomorph on my shoulder hurt so bad I named him. Leon. Since Kings of Leon kept playing in the shop while it was getting done.
The thing with texas drivers brings back nightmare memories. My wife used to live there and we've gone there a couple times to visit her parents. They actively hate people not in cars. Its so strange. They have a big culture for cars and driving, if you're not in a car you're in the way and you're less. I have seen with my own eyes drivers try to hit bicyclists and pedestrians on multiple occasions, and my wife warned me about walking around.

Ride cancel or reporting first is how you HAVE to protect yourself. Not surprised it goes from driver to rider, too.
We have lost him
Hey woolie, bucees just broke a record for opening the biggest gas station, it’s in luling (a lil over an hour south of Austin). The pilgrimage must be made
These cops are interrogating me over an ounce of weed like I didn't just murder a Buc-ee's cashier two miles over! This shit ain't nothin to me, man
Bucky's is just kind of a southern mall truck stop combo.
Woolie taking about the heaven on earth that is Buck-ee’s warms my American heart. Pro tip the pull pork sandwiches are fucking god tier.
That Buc-ee's got me speakin Esperanto
The US has some weird car based sightseeing spots. In Nebraska we have a place called carhenge which is just Stonehenge with vehicles.
Hey Pat! "Drive for show, putt for dough."
What the hell, I was wondering where I recognized that logo and looked up to see my coworker’s Buc-ees water bottle.
once again ubers showing why the whole entire idea of trusting random strangers over a taxi is a terrible idea
"I took golf in college."
Lol, lmao.
The way woolly describes Buckys reminds me of the Walmart country in Tyra Banks book model land
Woolie has experienced absolute joy. A concept considered strange by most Canadians
Glad Woolie came to the USA and discovered Buc-ee's along the way.
If I had a nickel for every podcast I know of that ended up talking about Buc ee’s I’d have 2 nickels, it’s not a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice
Wonder if woolie hit Wawa's considering he went to the deep south recently
Buc-ee has breached containment
I live in Cali there are cybertrucks everywhere it’s insane
